"What we learned from last night for next season" on an Ipswich forum included this:

- We have to become more slick in the attack, the space between players is too much, when Brentford attack they’re 10 yards away from each other playing one touch football (ripped us a new one).
- The transfers have ruined this club for the foreseeable, lack of real quality is frightening, Judge the expcetion, not enough quality on the pitch last night.
- Finally, Brentford is a model of how we should run a football club. Everything about it.

https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/456854/what-we-learned-from-last-night-for-next-season./#3

All things considered, I was very impressed by the Ipswich turnout last night, both numbers and support
Gallows humour and solidarity, it often happens when all else is lost. Fair play to them.

I know this is a journo and not a fan, but there was an interesting article in The Guardian the other day which picked "Ten Championship players Premier League clubs have on their radar":

Three of them were from Brentford (Ezri K, Neal M and Said B), with no other club having more than one:
https://www.theguardian.com/football/football-league-blog/2019/may/20/ten-championship-players-premier-league-clubs-have-on-radar-football

(Others were: Grealish/Villa, James/Swansea, Bowen/Hull, Loader/Reading, Webster/Bristol C, Connell/Bolton and Adams/Brum)

I don't think so. If you are referring to the bit that said "this is from they're forum" it expands to "this is from they are forum".
as opposed to against um?

But the subtle consonance of “an ocean of pedants” suggests wave after gentle wave of pedantry. (I am my own best critic). Thinking about it, they probably would say, “****ing Brentford-
Stagnant Pond of Stagnating Pedants.” Bastards.

I can hear it now bellowing out of the Ealing Road

"We are Brentford, ***ing Brentford
Stagnant Pond of
Stagnating Bees"

Saw this on the Charlton forum- made me smile:

Brentford were the best team we have played so far and anybody can easily say they took us to school.
Indeed it can be argued they took us to baby shower, nursery, kindergarten, infant junior and secondary school, college, Uni, Oxbridge, the Sorbonne and Yale.

Great article in today's Times by Matthew Syed "Community club who don't just connect with fans...they invite them to team talks" Good to see that the ethics of the club we are proud to support are recognised.

I got invited in to a team talk during the Warburton era.

This thread has had a bit of a hiatus this season, so here goes,

Dalestykes, BBS forum....'They were very decent, as a team and as individuals. Got some class in that team'.

Hope this team gets this thread moving now.

In fairness, some of our own are not much better informed about our club.

Jusst don't get comments like these though as I've never seen anything in the media about our financial position in any negative light whatsoever. In fact during the summer I saw quite a few pieces about the tens of millions we've made in transfer income...

Just people seeing how much money weve spent and forming a lazy opinion without educating themselves

Not even going to bother registering on their forum to respond to rubbish like that.

a few of their fans see it how it is... they know we are actually quite similar in the way we are run, but admit theyre a few years behind us in what they want to achieve. then they have the few idiots who i quoted

They go on about the fees spent (mention two summer signings in Pinnock and Jansson but then said Canos and Watkins whose been here for a few years now) but failed to mention monies received.
Since January, we have sold £60m worth of players, and spent £26m (give or take a couple million on both for slight differing fees as reported). Either way, that is still an approximate profit of £30m without even adding in promotion bonuses we may have had in Hogan and Egan.
Ok, we may "owe" MB £90m, how much of that is the stadium? We've not been far from making a profit lately, mainly because of player sales admittedly, and this next financial year we are even, apparently, going to show a profit.
I can assure you, I think one day soon MB will be rewarded one way or another.

Does your calculation include sell on clauses other clubs may have had? For a club with operational losses the size of ours the transfer business makes the overall picture a lot rosier, but not quite as rosy as your figures suggest

Admittedly, not but then I've not a clue the actual sums if that, whether it's 10 or 25 etc

The sooner that Matthew Bennett gets out of this club the better, lining his pockets week after week at OUR expense, selling off our best players for his own bank balance, and no doubt his massive ego will see a Mathew Bennett stand named in his honour at the new ground we have worked so hard to get.

I like this from the Bristol City forum - About GP rather than the team:

"Wednesday really is going to be the end of an era. There's aspects of Griffin Park I won't miss- especially bundling down a narrow, crowded corridor to try to get to the toilets at half-time - but there really is no stadium like it in this day and age, at least at this level of football. Even if standing ever returns, it will be in a much smarter and more sanitised form and - whilst I'm not one of those people who gets nostalgic old, grotty, ground with poor facilities or feels modernised stadiums automatically lack atmosphere or soul - it is going to be weird that, next time we visit Brentford (FA Cup or play-offs notwithstanding) it will be without some of the things that made a visit so unique."
