Some of the houses in that "dire part of London" are worth more than streets in Leicester.

And a post just below that says “Dire? You sure? It’s at top of Chiswick High Road and a short walk away from Kew Gardens”.

They dread coming to Griffin Park.
Won't be any different next time and they'll be going home
with their tails between their legs again.

While this is not exactly said about Brentford, but what Zidane did have to say today felt to me a lot about TF's approach to this season.........

Team tactics
"To attack well we have to defend properly. We've been doing that for some time now, we're strong defensively. That's the basis we follow to then attack well. We'll have to have a lot of options tomorrow in terms of our attacking play. We know that if we're strong defensively, we then have the quality to cause anyone problems

"I think Brentford would be able to come up with a better thread than this, in fact they could probably do a far better forum with far better members. Unfortunately though their moderator scouts have been watching us write and deem none of us good enough for their mighty forum."

Little do they know....

The Loft For Words preview is excellent as usual, there’s a really intelligent, insightful analysis of what Brentford have done over the last 5-6 years, interspersed with the sort of digs that you’d expect and a fanzine should be making at local rivals.

Let’s hope he has to write the match report through gritted teeth again.

We’re now at Fergie’s ‘noisy neighbours’ standing with them. Starting to take us seriously, even if they still don’t grasp that we see them as our bitterest rivals.

The bit about last week’s mental health minute, tickled me. KO at 3.01 messing up people with OCD...

Agreed. Credit where it's due, this is a well-written, well-informed, witty and above all generous appraisal of how the fortunes of the two clubs have been reversed over the past six years or so.

"QPR are fifteenth, as they have been for several years now." lol Exactly how I used to feel about us, except our 'natural' spot seemed to be 13th.

It’ll be a belter. Most of the comments on the loft for words match thread seem to agree with his preview. They hate it but know we’ve got it right for a club the size of us or them. And that they accept that they’re not a bigger club must really hurt. Haha!

Beaten by better team who will definitely finish in the top 6, probably in top 4. I think Warburton needs to start recognising there are several teams in this league that we are not good enough to go toe-to-toe with and accept we will have to deploy some different shapes, strategies and approaches that might be unattractive on the eye but might get results.
We just looked like a bunch of naive plucky boys playing against experienced clinical professionals today.

From Loft For Words

This but I want us to look forward now. Keep trying to emulate Brentford. I'd rather be like them than Fulham who are still trying to buy their way forward. Maybe that works when you've got 30,000 fans: it's okay for Villa, Wolves, Leeds, Newcastle. But we need to be sustainable. And I'd rather continue on that path and lose against Brentford every season, than overspend and go out of business.
Well, they're certainly getting that part of the plan right! lol

Leeds forum in Meltdown again this is just one from today

Brentford are a major threat and will be there at the end. Leeds will feel the pressure and have to deal with it otherwise another 'MASSIVE' club will leapfrog us into the PL. I take my hat off to the B's , they know what they're doing alright.

Like this in particular:

Brentford have a fantastic front three and a quality manager who is similar in many ways to Warburton but who has perhaps more progressed technical players to work with.

BUT... Brentford have to go up this season or literally all their forwards, one midfielder and their centre backs will be snapped up. They may be able to replace most of them but the reality is that they have the physicality, pace and stye to hold their own in the lower half of the Prem if they go up. They have been knocking on the door for years but this season they really need to capitalise on the group of players they have. As hateful as it sounds and feels, they are just that much better than us right now. That balance may well change again in a few seasons.

Their front three have real pace, youth and physicality. They have Faurlin style playmakers in the middle and big ugly sh*ttu type defenders. All very cleverly amassed. Something we will be able to do if everyone holds their sh*t together and let Warburton get on with it over the next few seasons.

They also seem to have a rabid dislike of Sir Peter of Gilham:

Bus stop in Hounslow on 20:33 - Jan 11 by smegma

The commentator mentioned ' ill feeling between the clubs since QPR tried to buy the Bees in the late sixties'. I wonder where they got that info from ?

Then they picked out the saddo Gilham in the stands and mentioned what a 'die hard fan ' he was. Which answered my first question above.
[Post edited 11 Jan 20:46]

He is poison. He has twisted the facts about what happened to make QPR in to the villains. Misses out the fact that they were going out of business
and they came to Loftus Road to beg Jim Gregory. But don’t let the facts get in the way.

Had a lovely evening winding up QPR fans on Twitter. It seems they fall into the 2 camps, those that recognise that they are going backwards as a club and the future is not rosy and those that think they are a big, successful club and refer to their trophies (league cup win in 1967 isn't it? and their record as a PL club. What they fail to see is the more that they crow about being a 'big club' the more their regular defeats to Spartak Hounslow get highlighted as a dismal failure on their part. Definitely a lot are in denial about the gulf in class between the two squads.

Football is very cyclical unless you are one of the “big six” or so.
At some point inevitably our star will wane and bragging rights will reverse.
