Thing that makes me smile is that fans from a "giant" in the footballing world such as Birmingham have to talk about little old Brentford lol

I love being in the Championship.

There was a Tweet from a Villa fan taking the piss out of Birmingham signing their players from Tin Pot Brentford.

You can imagine all the abusive replies he got.

Yep. At least Birmingham got three players for Villas outlay on Scott Hogan. Mind you they are probably paying three times Hogans wage too

Bet they're not, I'm sure a little bird told me Hogan was on ridiculous money at Villa and hence why happy to join another Championship club, circa £60K a week

Villa fans fancy their chances of giving us a drubbing now we've sold "half of our team". Dunno when we started playing 6 a side

Sadly I doubt the playing staff will be quite as deluded - but here's hoping.

We shouldn't get too confident of getting a lot at Villa, they have a very strong squad and have to start putting some results together soon.
I'd take a point and would be ecstatic with more.

It really is unbelievable. £60K per week!!! £240k monthly salary. I keep repeating the numbers. £60K per week for kicking a ball around a field. Wow. No wonder they're all for sale to the highest bidder. I don't blame the players but that is just an obscene amount of money.

Hats off to MB and DoFs for holding their nerve and not folding early when West Ham were the only interested party and offering a lot less than Villa did.
Compare to the story of how Jack Charlton laughs about stealing Andy Mac off us with a derisory initial offer that we accepted!

So wrong that any footballer should earn in a week, far more than any of my nurses, secretaries and technicians will earn in a year working for the NHS.,

I have been shocked at the level of derision we have received. Is it a sign of pent up frustration that this little club has the gall to even put a team out against these so called big teams? In the words of Kevin Keegan I will love it love it when we turn them over (again)

If we get this much abuse I wonder what some clubs say about Burton?

"We should be turning these over at home"

Shouldn't they though? The amount of money they've spent compared to us and the fact we've just lost 3 key players, and on the fact we haven't won a game yet? Not being funny but they have every right to think that they need to be winning these games for promotion.

Thankfully we know how good we can be even without those 3 players and ultimately the ones that we've replaced them with could and should be equally as dangerous. Watkins, Dalsgaard and Egan are quality replacements and they wont know about them yet. Our performances this season have been good and would like to think we will grab a point at Villa Park.

I honestly don't blame them at all for thinking they SHOULD be beating us.... You're assuming it's coming from an uneducated fan. (You could be right of course)

I'm sure they remember Egan's late equaliser at Villa Park, last season. :hat:

But for a linesman giving Hogan offside when he wasn't we would've done the double over them. Villa were cack in both games last season.

Yeah. They should have done us last season too but were lucky to get a point from 6

There are some alternative comments on the site:-

Brentford could have had 4 or 5. Have sold their best players yet are light years ahead of us at playing football. That comes from the Manager and coaches. Imagine us playing like that with the players we have!! We would piss the league.

My cousin was in the holte end and after the game said he didn't think we did much - I pointed out 18 shots to 10, 5 on target to 1 showed different...

The longer clubs like Villa keep thinking they only have to turn up to roll over a team like Brentford the better. You would have thought their fans would have learnt this after the battering we gave them at GP last year and yesterday by the sounds of it.
