This season most of our draws and 1-0 defeats have come against teams that have made it hard for us to play and/or have converted their one half-decent (or in the case of Birmingham at home, one tenth decent!) chance. We ought really to have had a few more draws.
Yeh, I'd agree that the defeats and draws have come against teams that have been harder for us to play against than the ones we've beaten. :fishing:

Being spoken to by a Leeds fan, next door neighbour, on Saturday: "Thanks for beating Fulham, not that I think they'll catch us. I watched the match, you've got a good little team there. Sorry about tomorrow, my dad's coming round to watch the match, it's going to be loud". Didn't hear a peep.

Why angry? That's just funny! I trust you maintained a dignified silence, shorts? Think Nick would have been beating on their door upon final whistle. rofl

Sorry... "shorts" as in "Shorts" as in JohnOmarasShorts! (I was addressing the man!) lol No, I just think the silence of the following day, as against the warning of excessive noise, is hilarious and needs no further comment, other than a polite "how was the match?" when Shorts next sees him.

Dignity is my middle name.:D I went to the car just as his dad was leaving, literally seconds after the final whistle, I gave a small wave and smile and he just turned away. Lovely moment, little Brentford indeed.

A real BFC love in on the latest NTT20 podcast with a great tactical overview of how we play by Michael Cox.

They do like us a lot on there, they are very xG orientated with their views so our philosophy matches theirs quite well. Haven't listened yet but will do a bit later.

I enjoy watching some of the better fan offerings from other clubs on YouTube. One of my favourites is All LeedsTV - particularly straight after they have lost lol. They are passionate about their club as one would expect and always confidently back their team to win whoever the opposition. That said, they are always particularly complimentary whenever they talk (reasonably knowledgably) about Brentford. This is from their recent review of their pre-season predictions. The bit about Brentford starts at 25.35.

I particularly like the bit where the chap on the left says he should be in red and white stripes! Too right mate! :)

Fair-minded and reasonable, though, and right about their performance at GP. Best visitors by far.

NTT20? Sorry, don't know what this is.
"Not The Top 20" Podcast i.e. no Premier League, just EFL. Various links here:
https://ntt20.com/

One of the guys behind it regularly appears on Quest's EFL show.

And here's another one talking on Sky last year about the signing of Ethan Pinnock:

They generally seem to know what they're talking about, I'd say.

Living in deepest darkest WHU land, that nonsense comes as no surprise, their ignorance is unbelievable :very angry:

But of course they are always keen to remind us that they personally won us the World Cup in '66

Jickwack club, can't wait to smash 'em next year (or comically pass them) :sorted:
It’s just stupid is what it is !! They are no Everton or big six. They have been there recently enough and enough times !

6 wins and 2 draws IIRC Bournemouth and reading
In 1992? Yeah - that's right - and the last 6 games were all wins.

I meant it would take 6 wins and a draw in our last 8 games for us to get to 82 points from here. Would be a very decent return IMO, and (according to GPG Supercomputer) would only give us around a 50% chance of automatic promotion. Tough ask, but - as Pontus said - we'd be stupid not to aim for it!

Yep but I believe that’s the marker we have to put on the board and if both WBA and Leeds get 83 points or more (given our superior goal difference) then well done them. Realistically however good we play, and on some occasions win by a decent margin, we will have a couple of slip ups when luck goes against us, we don’t quite click or the other team does a number on us.

From WBA Forum:

"Nervous about going to Brentford?
I'd be a little apprehensive if we were away at Barca but not the mighty Brentford who have lost 11 games in the mighty Championship.
We're going up as Champions, relax."

Slav hasn't got the tactics. Clueless. I can see brentford winning the league and we will have to battle it out with Leeds and Fulham for 2nd.

Outclassed if we're being honest. They scored fairly early on, at no point looked like conceding even if they didn't create much, and whenever we looked like getting back into it they quickly put us on the back foot again. They closed and ran more than us throughout the game, energy levels far higher. One looked like a team who's been focussed since the break, we look like a side in pre-season. They closed the game out with supreme ease when we should have been throwing everything at them as well. Said it all in stoppage time at 1-0 up there was only one team who looked like scoring.

Very difficult to us winning automatic promotion based on really months of form. Severely lacking creativity. The strikeforce is legitmately among the worst in the league. Bailed out previously by the goals from elsewhere but now they've dried up we have nothing.

Brentford were the better team. Back to back wins against us and Fulham, most goals scored in the league, some quality footballers, they deserve to be promoted.

We look awful, shame they didn't end the league.

Absolutely pathetic bar 10 minutes Brentford completely controlled that, we are smack bang in trouble here Bilif doesn’t know the best formation let alone team, we don’t look like scoring 3 shots on target in 2 games is embarrassing for a professional team, we are smack bang in trouble here we really are.

Slight overreaction on the same site:

Dismal. Not a chance we're getting promoted this season.

Forget the next win, I honestly can't see where our next goal is coming from. We're probably the worst team in this league bar Hull and have been since January.

A shame that their fans can't translate those nerves onto the pitch for them really... No goals in those games must be concerning though, but it is also another example of people adding runs from before and after lockdown together thinking it translates into much.

Obviously West Brom are still in a much better position table wise (I'd love to be in their position) but there are several arguments that we're the better team between the two. Let's see how the season pans out but it's still a bit early from their POV to think it's over.

Any news on Leeds fans reaction to our win tonight??
Are they celebrating it as much as our win at Foolham last week (i.e. pretty much 3 points to them) or do they see us as a threat yet??.......

That board seems to have attracted the less intelligent fans compared to the other one...

The easiest way to tell, and I sort of mean this, is to how good the site looks. The best fans are on the better looking forums as they have standards.

Can understand where Fulham and WBA fans are coming from. We made them both look sterile in attack, and picked both off with evil efficiency. Whispering death.

Love this comment:

Frustrating to say the least isn't it. At least tonight we have lost to a very good team. First time this season I have felt we were genuinely second best throughout.
He didn't see the game at their place then

Most would have preferred a WBA win. I think they may be wondering whether a Bees win last week was quite as good as they thought.

I did enjoy ...
"Brentford's 3rd highest attendance of the season tonight."
"Always looks depressing seeing Jansson playing for such a tin pot club"

But caution from some...
"I'd Say Brentford are a bigger threat then Fulham"
Got a bad feeling about Brentford!"
"Did say they'd be a major threat from day one"

Fulham fan before last night's game:

"I honestly think we need a Brentford win. We need them to go up in the top 2 as we can not beat them in the play offs. They are just too good for us."

 lol

And another:

"Despite the fact that they have done the double over us there are still people on here who do not give Brentford the credit they deserve. Maybe they are our smaller neighbours but currently they probably have the best team in the league. They are well drilled, smooth passing and run their hearts out."
