In the shed.
I have very little knowledge of the premier league and the players in it. They are not in my Village....yet.

Years ago, I was on holiday in a B&B, in Scotland and, one morning, I sat opposite a bloke in a Newcastle shirt and I was wearing my Brentford away shirt. He was 20-ish and looked closely at the badge on my shirt and then started chatting. He was quite knowledgeable about us. It was very refreshing.
If you had worn a Brentford home shirt that would really have got his attention.

Old Malden, actually......
It's better than it used to be, where you'd answer that you supported 'Brentford', and then they'd have an awkward silence not knowing what to say like you just told them you were terminally ill.

Now at least they're like 'ah ok, doing quite well nowadays aren't you?'.
I never cease to be surprised at just how much better known we are these days. I was in Argentina just before lockdown and managed to get tickets to a couple of matches out there through a tourist agency. I met several Aussies and Americans at both games and when I was asked who I supported gave it my usual 'oh, you won't have heard of them....' line. And yet on both occasions within seconds people were proudly showing me photos of recent visits they had made to Griffin Park.

As good as they've been in the second half of this season, if/when they go up I still fancy them to be one of those clubs that gets less than 20 points and gets relegated by March.

Got to love our neighbours - think they forgot they spent £100m plus and ended up with 26 points.

I know someone who has at various times in the past thirty years or so had season tickets to both QPR and Fulham. No real interest in either team, the season ticket was purely so he could go to watch the "top" teams of the time. Probably only went to about 8 games a season. I think he would have had trouble even naming more than seven of "his" team. Even that passing interest only lasts as long as they are in the Premier League.

When we go up, I'll make sure I send his details to the Brentford ticket office to stop him if he tries to pull that trick here!
I hope we can attract youngsters from in or near to Brentford as possible, not old blokes, who support other clubs but are at Brentford for the convenience of Premier League football.

I think we'll attract all, young, old, short, tall. If we go up we'll be a very attractive proposition.

Evening folks, I've already been on this thread a couple of times inadvertently I will say... but I've registered solely to say well done. I'm assuming you'll win tomorrow, I can't think of a single good thing Stoke have ever done for us!!

The table doesn't lie, you've had an incredible run and I hope you enjoy the Premier League. If we've not totally lost the plot hopefully we'll join you. Boing Boing.

Thank you for the kind words. What has caused the Baggie meltdown? Has negativity from Bilic transferred to the squad?

Absolutely - whatever any of them might say now, every Baggie will be praying that Stoke do to us what Huddersfield did to them..

Bournemouth fan popping in - been registered for ages and not posted for ages.

We've had it - so really hoping that Watford go with us and you get your chance at the top level. I'll be especially chuffed for my mate who I went to school with in Bmth, Dave B, if you manage it. I'm sure he posts on here, not sure what his Username is..he does live in Boscombe, but I don't think its 'Boscombe Bee'.

Anyway - best of luck etc etc..

Shame Bournemouth look like they're gone, plenty of clubs I'd rather go than them. The Championship is good though, you might enjoy being a promotion contender.

Well yes - 10th in the first season, thought this is good fun - bigger grounds etc..didn't expect to be champions the year after!

Certainly getting a bit tired of getting pumped most weeks. I went to our first 3 matches at City...lost 5-1,4-0,4-0. It's good for a pint at least lol

To be honest, being a Brentford fan in the premier league is not something I dream of being, I love the championship. For me it is not about that, it is the glory of promotion, to finally do it, to have that moment when the final whistle goes and you have won something. That is the only thing that drives me at the moment.

Not sure if it’s just me but I have noticed a change in attitude amongst some people who support Premiership ‘big names’ . For a long time they have taken a mild interest even patronisingly saying ‘ your lot are doing well’ . Once it looked as if we actually might be promoted they stopped smiling but after Saturday you can see they are relieved. We looked as if we were stepping out of the patronised zone and might even go up and beat them. Their discomfort was obvious as was their relief in their commiserations . Sod them , COYB

A really good point. I had a couple of mates watching the last two games who and Man Utd fans. It was all tongue in cheek but they kept saying "wouldn't get away with that in the prem", when Raya would pass it out the back, or "you would have conceded then if you were in the prem".

It is banter admittedly (crap banter but hey ho), but I can't help but feel that maybe Man Utd could be in an FA Cup final this season if they had David Raya and PJ at the back, rather than De Gea and Maguire.... petty I know!

People aren't that comfortable when we start to threaten their Hollywood Premier League are they. I feel like they think we have no right. I much much much prefer the Championship, but if we beat Man Utd at Lionel Road next season, I must admit, i'd be returning some of that "banter".

Reaching the championship was a dream! My first season was Steve Coppel as a young 10yr old kid, Stoke final devastated me, and the MA showed me just how special the club and fans were of this club. I've loved the ride, my first ever away trip was Hereford in L2 so yes I would love to trade that for Liverpool a away.

I'm very happy in the championship, but for MB and ambition why can't we cement ourselves as mid table and challenge in the cups? And then Europa League?

With MB vision and setup why can't we upset the apple cart? Spend the money wisely and compete? Continue to bring in young hungry players develop them and allow them to move on to top 6 sides while competing and challenging.

I do see us a unique club probably because of the core 5K of us but I'd love to add another 10kcore who brought into the history and values of this great club.

Work colleagues, facebook friends etc are now starting to laugh at Brentford. Also Bees fans getting angy on social media is not the answer. Maybe one day Brentford will surprise me and actually do it when the occasion arises. I've had enough of this season now, enthusiasm is being drained. Play offs are grim. Prove me wrong Brentford.

Totally agree, hate us in the playoffs... And IF we did the unimaginable and win at Wembley.... NONE OF US CAN BE THERE TO SEE IT!!

I hate the reactions of some bee's after one defeat... Yes it was important but its not over yet.
Although I must admit I haven't really enjoyed the last two games.... Nerves on overdrive!

It seems the general opinion of many Forest fans is that, because they took 6 points of Brencelona and good results against the other contenders, the play-offs are theirs for the taking. The only concern is not dropping the 7th place on Wednesday!

Agreed. To be cannon fodder and smashed every week and have everyone say, little old Brentford bless them, gave it their all but couldn't live with the big boys, back to the small time as they ruffle you hair and say we are a cute little second team to support.
I felt the same about the championship to be honest but by Christ did MB and the boys surprise me, you just never know.
Well if you do go up - it's a laugh going to all the new stadiums (unless they leave a fake bomb etc..) and different place to go for a pint etc. Like some others have said, just roll with it - and you'll get the odd few surprise wins along the way.

Newcastle is the away you need to do. Great place, locals, beer etc..ground central too.

Did it when they were in the Championship - great weekender and would go back again. The worry I have is whether away fans will be allowed in grounds next season - would be typical of us to get promoted and can't go to any grounds on my to do list lol

This sort of condescending attitude from fans who think they know the PL is literally ridiculous.
I remember a Wolves fan who was pissed off at us nabbing the play off spot in 2015 saying we'd certainly "do a Derby".

The sort of people who tip us to "do a Derby" (if we do make it) are the sort of people who would refuse to believe we could ever make it up to the PL, were the evidence not right in front of them.

On a similar note, I worked with a Middlesbrough fan until 18 months ago. He went to a lot of games and claimed to know all about us. Also claimed we had done well to get where we are but told me (admittedly after several beers) he fully expected little old Brentford to be back in League One in a few years. It's a shame that the god of irony couldn't fully punish that boast this season.

Just as a general point re: the thread title.

You’ll always have fans of bigger clubs that don’t ‘get it’. If anything that’s probably a good thing and it doesn’t really offend me.

I find it much more insightful to hear the views of supporters from similarly sized clubs. You can quickly establish a common understanding of what it’s like to be a Brentford fan and focus on the detail. You get a real outside perspective not clouded or interrupted by a slightly patronising series of questions about how a club like Brentford operates.

I know we’ve had supporters of Exeter and Oldham on here in the past and it’s fairly obvious from the outset that their posts are more valuable to discussion than the waffle you’ll get from, say, a Leeds fan pretending to understand (I say that as a general admirer of LUFC).

Now Chiswick (proud to be a YIMBY)
Coral's Championship team of the season, with four Brentford players, without being bias I think we should have at least six in this team.
https://news.coral.co.uk/football/who-gets-in-our-championship-team-of-the-year.html
No offence, but I think you are being biased.

Nearly every team has at least one top player who would have a valid claim, so for BFC to get four is mightily impressive (imo).

As for the four they've chosen, agree completely with 3 of them, but still not convinced by Raya. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good gk who has improved our team and at 24 is only going to get better, likely much better.

But he is prone to the occasional mistake - I like my gk's to be ultra-consistent and I'm not sure there isn't one out there who is less error-prone. Samba at Forest? He's impressed me in what I've seen of him (incl GP) and gets a lot of praise generally.

Though I might include Ethan, to keep the BFC compliment up to four.
