Fair enough but we too were significantly weakened, starting without four big players for us: Janet, Ayer, Baptiste and Wissa
Sure. But I reckon Rudiger and Silva missing is more of a downgrade than our replacements

Chelsea goalscorer Ben Chilwell speaking to Sky Sports: "It was very tough. The last 20 minutes we showed the mentality we need to show all season. They have had a brilliant start to the season and their fans are good for them. In the last 20 minutes to half an hour they were really pushing them on and it was hell on earth.

Think we need a new sign when fans arrive at the stadium:
Welcome to Hell!

Newcastle fan on another forum i use: "That second half performance from Brentford was outstanding. Chelsea very lucky to get the win there. Brentford are easily my favorite team to watch"

And my wife's grandpa has been gushing in his praise this morning - even heard him boring my mother-in-law about what a great game it was etc. He doesn't know his football, just enjoys watching now and then, so no great analysis, but he said if we play like that we'll be champions soon :)

This makes me laugh and very proud of our boys. The comments on here from the Chelsea fans while the game was playing, had me in stitches.
Start from page 18 onwards ENJOY:

One Chelsea fan: Wtf is this...it’s Brentford we are CL winners, they are decent but this shouldn’t happen

Second Fan: Brentford have been playing like Barcelona 2010 in the last 20 mins we are defending for our lives

Funny stuff on there. Particularly liked "I'm calling a cardialogist" and the chap who suggested the post was their MOTM :D

A lot of them also panned Konte and Lukaku

I thought Kante was superb all game unlike Loftus Cheek who was excellent before the break.
Lukaku was hopeless and looked a huge, cumbersome, overweight lump but has very good feet for a big man

I loved Lukaku at Inter the last two seasons but it’s become even more clear since he came back to England that he really is a flat-track bully.

Said the same Loftus-Cheek controlled the mid field first half but was anonymous second whereas Kante was everywhere throughout. Lukaku was awful and Werner hardly got a touch all game. A lot on theit forum are going ape sh*t about how poor they are up front. I like most of us watch a lot of football and have watched Chelsea many, many times I don't ever remember seeing a Chelsea side totally dominated and quite simply battered as much as they were in the second half yesterday. It was the clichéd fine margins Bryan's off the post and Norgaard's scissor kicks could have made it so different.

Agree, amazing to think Man City are the only other side to have tested them this season. Not often you'd describe a defeat as confidence building.

Seemed like TF brought on Forss to negate R L-C, possibly to make it harder for him to drive through the midfield, which worked amazingly, as I forgot he was playing till I heard his name a few mins from the end, whereas first half he looked like a Rolls Royce smooth player.

Re Lukaku, I remember a pundit on Totally Football podcast saying when he joined Chelsea he was concerned as Tuchel had said he is great with his back to goal, and the pundit says that isn't how he played for Inter, which is why he scored so many goals for them. He feared if Tuchel used him like that he would return to the Man Utd Lukaku, and that seems to have been what happened.

My brother in law is a Chelsea supporter and he watched the game on tv and he said he didn’t understand how Chelsea survived he said we were superb but the one thing was that the noise we made at the stadium gave him goose bumps he said that on the tv it sounded so loud I told him that as a west stand season ticket holder the atmosphere has been so so good ridiculously loud and it will only get better

Given how much their squad cost (and continues to cost in wages) I'm not going to waste any time sympathising because they have two players out, or letting that fact detract in any way from another fabulous PL performance from our boys

Being talked at by a Leeds Fan on Saturday (why is it always a 4king Leeds fan?), rather condescendingly, "Your lot are doing quite well at the moment, you know it's going to fall apart soon don't you?". I smiled and said, "Like Leeds this season?". He found somebody else to talk to.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Brentford ”play like people from the village travelling to America for their first Christmas” (@ 34 sec). Can’t really disagree..

‘Fans’ living on a different continent, 3000 miles from London, wearing shirts bought at Balogun Ajeniya for 2,500 Naira, talking about what they’ve just watched at their local spot on satellite tv 😂

These jokers should be wearing Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC gear :), not scratchy Chinese knock-off shirts of their favourite English club. 😡

Alternatively, let people like what they like rather than being criticised by some bloke in a different continent 3000 miles away.

It seems we are still spoken about in the red half of Liverpool. Our name is mentioned in bits, especially on this page of Liverpool's away game at Atletico Madrid post match thread.

In depth analysis on our playing style by our friends from the Midlands:

Q: "I've read somewhere (reddit???) that they like to play a long ball game at times. That surprised me as I don't recall them doing that particularly. I thought they attempted to be a little more sophisticated than 'lump it up top'. Anyone watched them recently care to comment?"

A: "Very much. Very physical. Unafraid to use the long ball."

I think it’s a fair comment. We’re not a team who have nothing much else but will go long if merited. A bit like an old mate of mine who’s a Villa fan and once a bit of a chap- he wasn’t out looking for a ruck but he didn’t discourage one which found him.

I do some work for the FA, and my boss is a Leeds fan. We had a get together and were sat at a bar, when another colleague (a Wycombe ST holder) comes over to the two of us and asks, 'Have Brentford played Leeds yet'

'We've not played anyone in the bottom six', I replied

The Wycombe fan laughed so much he repeated the question so I could say the line again.

Guess I might not be working for the FA for too long!

More from Leicester:

"Exactly the type of opponents we struggle with. This will be a very very difficult match. They are playing with a lot of swagger right now and a great deal of confidence and enthusiasm backed by a noisy supportive crowd,"

Let's make sure we play 'with a lot of swagger ... and a great deal of confidence and enthusiasm backed by a noisy supportive crowd,' by backing the team from the start with as much noisy support as we can muster.
I shall certainly be noisily and supportively backing the team with a view to them playing with a lot of swagger and a great deal of confidence and enthusiasm. :)

Our swagger coach will have been hard at work this week and our expected swagger rate will be high.

I mentioned on another thread I was up town for a function this week and on the way back lots of Chelsea fans got on at Earles Court. Listened to them gloating over their 4-0 win when I very stupidly said - but you were really lucky last Sunday. Do you know what they all agreed! There were also 3 Fulham fans at the end of the carriage who just kept very Quiet!

Listening to the radio earlier, heard an optimistic Man Utd fan previewing their game on Sunday say that Atletico Madrid and Brentford had shown that Liverpool are vulnerable when put under pressure. Read that again. Never thought I would hear us mentioned in that company in my lifetime.
