Innit. We're approaching 2/3s into the season and the mighty Brentford have managed one point more than us. No wonder they're such arrogant ****s with rival supporters sucking them off like this

My god - can't stand them. They have a chip on their shoulder since we beat them in the play offs.
Bet that vodka is tasting extra sweet reading that sh!tshow of bitterness ;)

they're so weird!

The media seems to like Brentford probably due to goals/strikers/scouting system/bridesmaid-syndrome, it gives the media something to put an angle on, other than “team A beat team B 1-0, well done to them”.

There is no rivalry other than them being up there, and others thinking of them as sneaky cheats. Which happens every season, replace Swansea with Forest/Cardiff/Middlesbrough/Derby/Leeds any other season. And fans on the internet spouting which is just nothing.

The game when Alan Cockram was on co-comms I had video but still didn’t know what was going on. He kept talking about spaghetti bolognaise.
lol! I can literally hear a baffled Alan Partridge saying that!

"...How many recent seasons have they done this though? Looked promising and then fallen away and stayed down."

This seems to be an often quoted idea but I dont think its anywhere near true...
14/15. Started slow ..reached top 6 around December and stayed between 3 and 7.
15/16. Started slow ..reached brief high of 8 around NY...dropped back to low of 18 before recovering and ending 9th.
16/17. Started OK before spending most of season mid table and reaching 9th at death.
17/18. Started slow before slowly improving and spending season mid table and touching 8th/9th in last few games.
18/19. Started well (top 6 early - top 2 briefly by game 3/4). Poor run dropped us down by December and then slow recovery to 10.
19/20. Started slow. Steady improvement in Nov/Dec to reach top 6 where we stayed.

I'm not sure any of those could be classified as 'looking promising and then falling away'. Maybe 18/19 but it was very early in season we were in top 6. Last season we were never in top 2 and although we lost the last 2 we didn't fall away..more couldn't make the last step.
would be good to go on to their board and make this point.

Not least that it will worry them even more as us falling away is not as inevitable as they think

They just dislike the fact that we have a model and a way of playing with fantastic recruitment.

TF is really disliked by a few. Weirdly.

Have a look at the Planet Swans board. They have a whole thread about the supporters called “ Brentford Boys”. A very bitter bunch indeed. All seems to stem from TFs views on the Henry sending off last season. The fact that the red card was overturned and he was correct in his assessment, seems to have been missed by some of them.

The weird thing is they have another thread on promotion rivals where pretty much everyone is saying we’re going to be champions. Otherwise, apparently, the big problem apart from them not liking TF is that we don’t know our place. Which is nonsense. We know our historic place is midtable L1 and we’re just enjoying making new history. Basically another variety of “teams like Brentford” so meh to that.

It's pretty funny that they have a whole thread about us. I think they're used to being the team everyone likes where everyone raves about their brilliant football. They now think we've taken that mantle so they're even more salty. Also, for what it's worth, I think the underlying numbers tend to point to them imploding later in the season. So they'll all be anti-stats just like Forest we're last season. Which ended well.

Sorry mate.
Most of my mates that support other teams think we are very good and we will go up.
I don't really care about what other supporters say about us because i know we are quality.
Hope thats better lol
I don't care either really, but it's always nice when you hear other teams fans say we are good.

"I think we will win this, not been impressed with Brentford, they have scored goals, but always look scrappy and very suspect at the back.
So 3-0 to Reading"

The best response to that rubbish is on the pitch. If we can continue what we are doing we don't need to say anything, performances and points speak for themselves.

Brentford is an incredibly well run club - Norwich is not. Fulham is not. No yo-yo club is a well run club
Brentford are masterful in the transfer market - they signed Maupay, sold him and replaced him with Watkins, who they then sold and replaced with Toney - each time for a cheaper fee and huge profit.
Brentford already have some premier league standard players too (Henry, Toney, Reid, Dasilva, Raya, Jansson and maybe Ghoddos)
I would expect them to sign a fair few players but nobody too expensive.
Let's put it this way: they have the smallest fanbase and therefore the least matchday revenue (when fans can attend) out of all teams in the top 3 leagues. Brentford in theory belongs in and has the infrastructure and financial backing of a league 2 club (new stadium will hopefully change that though!) and yet in the context of building a new stadium and having a +net spend every season bar 1 (this includes Stadium expenses btw) since 2009 in which the club has won 2 promotions, no relegations and reached playoffs 5x. The club is almost always poached of its best players, especially in recent years and yet they always replace them with better players too
If they made it to the Prem, they'd struggle, sure, definitely a relegation candidate, but if they can survive that first season Brentford will be a mid-table side for a long time.
🤷‍♂️

They seem to think they are MUCH better than they actually are.
I'd be amazed if other teams didn't see how easily we got in behind their full backs? As much as our current vampire like aversion to crosses, this is a huge potential problem for them. It seems from the stats they've kind of got away with it so far but possibly more through luck than judgement...

Apparently we "always look scrappy" 🤦🏻‍♂️

"Hob Nobs"?

I know Reading FC were originally known as 'The Biscuitmen', because the town was best known for producing, well, biscuits. (None of this la-di-da up yourselves 'Royals' mullarky).

But the biscuit factory in question was Huntley & Palmer, and Hob Nobs are made by McVities.

Calling themselves 'Knobs', however, that could be said to be authentic.

Good biscuit knowledge. On the basis that Peek Freans were based in Bermondsey, perhaps we should call Millwall the Freak Peens.

Actually, Millwall FC were originally a factory team, formed by the workers at JT Morton, a Scottish company who also had a jam factory on The Isle of Dogs.

I think "Jammy B a s t a r d s" might be more appropriate.

Though I think if Hurlock challenged me, it would be "Mister Jammy B a s t a r d".

To be fair the next few responses are stating that they all laugh at his posts and suggest he is not representative of the forum members, let alone Reading fans on the whole.

I think the majority of comment, whilst obviously Reading biased as you’d expect, are largely fair.

We do look vulnerable from crosses and are conceding goals (1 clean sheet in the last 10) but score for fun so would expect them to fancy their chances with their recent defensive record.

Brentford certainly on a hot streak at the moment. Shows what can happen if you don't take your chances against them.

Poor results today, but daps is right. We need to do it for ourselves.

They can't be talking about themselves.

They didn't have any chances against us.
Another classic line lifted from that forum,

"I still get annoyed over the dodgy pen at Bristol City and not being allowed the goal v Wednesday at home. We should be top. Bloody refs"

Obviously completely ignoring they didn't have a solitary shot against us but the ref stole two poiints by not giving a blatant foul on Raya at the end. We should be three points above them.

What a bunch of jokers.

Swans Forum: They're a good side, fair play. About 75% as good as we were in 2011 but without the class

😂 Oh Swansea fans...

(P.s. I looked up that 2010-11 season. They finished on 80 points and lost 14 times. They finished in third, one place behind Norwich...maybe they will get a re-showing of that year!)
