How’s Brentford not a traditional club ? 130 years. Mostly in the football league, played in every division.

Any club deserves to be in the top flight on merit. Why are so many clubs deserving when they cheat by massively over spending ?

Wednesday & Boro and have been lower league in recent times themselves. Why are so many football fans thick ****s
Boro went bust in the 80s. Remember padlocks on the gates at Ayresome Park.

Having followed football for more than 50 years I have a mental ranking for which division every club kind of belongs in, based on that period of history. I'd put Middlesbrough in 'Division 2' or the Championship.

On the same basis, Brentford will always be a Division 3 team in my mind, which makes what's going on now so much more fun.

Other fans often talk about us in terms of 'we have no history' but confuse us not having one with them not knowing it. Most have to consult the internet to discover we were once in the top flight.

Other fans do look at us as being a small friendly club.
Many dont know that Griffin Park once held nearly 40K.
Even the friendly Boro fan on here wished us luck in the Prem and stated
something along the lines of filling our new stadium, not knowing that it
would've been full this season anyway, in the Championship.

"We are the famous, the famous Brentford"

Indeed or your own programme collection as per p1 of that Boro thread - make me smile
" don't think they've been a top fight club "
"1935-1947 :)"
"Should have checked 1st, I even have a programme from the 1st division season" (produces picture of 1940s programme)

We’ve got ‘history’; most just isn’t very glamorous is all.
So what?
Makes what’s happening now all the more fairy tale-ish (and beautiful).
The reason why most clubs have a soft spot for us is because they invariably beat us.
Don’t like us so much now, do they 😊

I’m quite happy to be living through a period when we’re making the things that will be looked back on as great parts of our history. If in 10-20 years time we’re such an established part of the upper reaches of the PL I won’t shed many tears if people don’t have the struggle up from L2 tattooed to their eyelids but reserve the right to remind younger fans of it if they whinge about only getting a draw away at Old Trafford and how we ought to get a more ambitious manager.

Alan Curbishley has taken us as far as he can. Careful what you wish for, League 1 beckons.

It’ll all be sorted by bringing back the bee badge we wore in the 2020s.

Funny how Swansea fans already think they've won the league. Really hope it all comes crashing down for them.

'I have no doubt that we will perform from the start of the match' is arrogance apparently.

I really hope they don't go up....

An "apology", of sorts, from the OP, having been called out by some of their more sensible posters:

"I read it back and feel a little silly now. It’s not arrogant at all. Glad I was called out on it!
It initially reminded me of when Frank said they’d 100% win the second leg. Although that turned out to be true, I thought it was a little arrogant. It just got validated because they won which annoyed me.
Their reserve forward Emiliano Marcondes said something similar before the Playoff final, which backfired.
They’re a good team but they don’t need to be so arrogant".
🙄😁

So...... I think this Sheff We’d fan must be mainlining crack whilst necking a five litre flagon of Buckfast....

“Very much gone off Brentford tonight. Will be my new team to hate for the rest of the season.

Dirty, anti football, cynical bastards“.

Nice to read that.
We're not here to be liked, We're here to win.

Enjoy League One.

Assuming he is annoyed at the 2 tactical fouls one of which resulted in their player being subbed off - we probably would be saying the same if the roles were reversed

We have been saying the same for 5 years, the big difference being most teams like Swansea seem to get away with 6-7 every game before they get the first yellow.

Also SW make no mention of the 8-9 time Rhodes jumped into a player without even looking at the ball and the other 6-7 fouls for pushed and trips the ref didn’t give first half,

From a supporter of a club that tried to drive a coach and horses through the FFP rules! Nothing to see here, jog on you deluded gits.

Agreed, can't be too upset with that summary. Anti-football? Not really... but there was a healthy dose of cynicism in our play yesterday.

I think we got mugged by the epitome of cynical, dirty play - Swansea City - and learnt a valuable lesson.

Thank you, you Taff ****s. Especially Ayew*

It wasn't a red but probably what they call an 'orange' card. I can understand them being very cynical on that challenge though as it had the subtlety of a freight train.

We need to learn he dark arts yes, but perhaps in a slightly more subtle way where you don't aim for the ankles.

Should get this pinned up in the dressing room on Wednesday.

What is interesting here is that they are already thinking about our game on Wednesday, almost as though the Wycombe game today does not exist. If they are complacent Wycombe can punish them as we found out for 45 minutes when we played them. Norwich should win but its not a forgone conclusion imo.

You're not wrong but I'm guessing it's just herberts like this bloke who are thinking past today to Weds and certainly not the Norwich players themselves. We'll see.

True, but it works on the players when fans underestimate us too. Does anyone remember Simon Hately, the Villa fan who called us a pub team on Twitter? I sent his tweet to Bob the Kitman and he tweeted that he did post it on the dressing room wall and we came away from Villa Park with a draw after that last-minute goal from Egan.

And they still didn't beat us, until their promotion.
