Disgusting. More so they have a couple of black players in their team. More pleased we beat them. Can’t stand their fans.
You know what, I get it’s early and in a massive game and having someone celebrate in your face is terrible and slightly out of order😀, I get the playing with yourself signs and shouts etc but what makes you go there like this sh*t did?
Tiny minds and thankfully a tiny % of idiots go down this route.

A couple last week from the Doncaster Forum:
8 years since we beat Brentford with that goal from Copps and today Brentford are promoted to the Premier League. Congratulations to Brentford for that achievement it shows steady progress and the right funding and financial strategy then it is possible to achieve.
What Brentford have achieved is exceptional.

Even with their strategy and funding it has taken exceptional dedication and shrewd choices of the individuals behind the scenes to execute the plan.

After our day at Griffin Park, those Brentford fans couldn't have imagined what was in store for them.

The vocabulary is so outdated, not to mention the stuff you see players are subjected to on social media. That's the thing that baffles me. Not that people harbour such views because they do sadly exist but just the sheer stupidity.

Last weekends matchday vlog from Swansea fans.....

Just enjoyed every moment of that 🤣.

A question ? I understand national anthems before England games etc , But why in the play offs when the majority of the players are not from the said country ? Be better playing both teams anthems ? Just a thought

We are going to have to get used to some real idiots now we are big league. The moderators will keep them off here but Facebook has already succumbed. I just saw one guy (i don’t think based on the UK) say it was lies that we played top flight football back in 1947 as it was our first time as we are the 50th premiership side.

:banghead:
Genuine idiots are welcome.

Man Utd channel Stephen Howson going into detail about how we've been promoted and how we are run

It is a repeat of the same things we have seen and heard already but some pretty wide of the mark facts. I don't believe MB bought FCM to use as some kind of lab rat to experiment on in order to build the template for Brentford which seems to be one of the theories doing the rounds, I am also not sure about his numbers, did we really pay 5.5M for Ollie Watkins etc.?

It is nice that people are taking a genuine interest and impressed with what we have done but some of the facts going around don't really stack up.

It's fairer to say that we paid closer to £2M for Ollie and the rest wasn't triggered until we sold him to Villa. I quite liked some elements of that MU guy's video, but agree that a lot of it was reading, rather inaccurately, from Joe Pompliano's thread and does a disservice to some of our actual transfer dealings.

Big club small club. I've always been puzzled by this as in football you are only as good as your last game. A club can have a great history and big financial backing but that doesn't guarantee success. In fact the reality is that big financial backing actually means massive debt and history doesn't win matches. It gives you a nostalgic time but that's it.
So Thomas has it spot on. Focus on the next game. What has been achieved is down to superb organisation and a long term strategy. The leagues are littered with the remains of ' big' clubs which still think they are special.

Did sell-ons always used to be a "thing" in transfers, or am I just noticing them more these days?

I think they have always been there, it is just that we do a hell of a lot more selling at a profit then we ever did before and to a very high value. Remember the Michael Turner fiasco 16-17 years ago, somehow we completely missed out on the sell on due to some skullduggery in regard to Hull part exchanging him and accepting a payment less than what we sold him for if memory serves.

And the DJ Campbell Transfer.

I looked back a few pages and couldn’t see this posted elsewhere - apologies if it has.

Another vlog from a Swansea fan of the play off final. Lots of waffle before you get to the match although he does have a chat with Billy from Beesotted.

The 2 minutes between 17:40 and 19:40 show both Bees goals from behind the Swansea goal.

The Swansea red card is just after 27:30 and it looks even worse from the Swansea end despite the vlogger claiming if there was VAR it wouldn’t have even been a booking.

In fairness, he concludes that we outplayed them and deserved the win and that they will struggle next season without investment from the owners.

Thanks for the link. Actually really enjoyed that, thought he was pretty fair in summary. A "nice" reminder of how utterly cr@p Wembley can be if your team doesn't perform, still feels so amazing to be on the other side for once!!

Glasgow Rangers fans were happy with our promotion

Thanks for that link.
Some great comments on there!!

Particularly liked these:

"Played well, Swansea didn't lay a glove on them.
They did lay a few boots on them though"

I loved the impending doom the moment mbeumo picks up the ball from the clearance !
"The impending doom", sums it up perfectly for any of the Swansea supporters. Kind of how I felt about Bournemouth's early goal in the second semi. But, Bees recovered, Swans just lost the plot.

Just come across this little gem from Mr Chansiri.

I liked this response from one Owls fan:

"But at the end of the day ,We are a selling club ,We sold Hillsborough."

Waiting at checkout in Morrison’s Totnes. Guy at till talks about football and says he supports Liverpool. I say I am a Brentford fan and I said we were looking forward to playing them next season. He looked completely blank and I explained we had just been promoted. He shrugged.
he will not be shrugging in a few months I am absolutely sure.

A perfect illustration of the difference between a supporter and a fan.

Had a similar thing 3 seasons back (seems forever, Smith still manager!) in the pub watching Leeds v Stoke and chatting to a Leeds fan saying I was watching to see what Stoke were like as Brentford were playing them the next week. He asked whether we’d drawn them in the League Cup and was genuinely amazed, 4 seasons after we’d come up (and iirc finished above Leeds at least twice) we were in the same division.

chelsea fan at work. We tried to have a proper conversation after we got promoted. He says we will struggle and probably let in 10 a couple of times, but we shouldn’t get too disheartened. Completely serious.

I explained that we’re actually ok, he then admitted that he had never even seen us play so has no idea what we’re like. FFS.

I've not watched MotD for probably 5 years and have no idea who some of Englands current squad are. I don't suppose he watched Quest! I will however be re-aquainting myself with MotD next season!

Match of the Day isn't great...but I will be watching it given our involvement in the division. 10 minutes of highlights and 5 minutes of analysis of West Brom V Southampton just stopped appealing to me a few years ago. At least Quest rattles through games, in fact the League One and Two sections are best for that.

There will be a lot of Prem fans who know nothing about us, as in nothing. We'd better get used to it.

Lots of very positive comments here from WRDC:

Although this is my favourite:

Thought this was amusing!!!

"Horrible isn't it.
Type of club who simply don't have a ducking thing outside of their control go against them when it matters.
You'd never see Watkins or Toney end up with a broken leg and miss 3 months of the season or anything like that.
Everything just falls into place for them with no major blows at crucial times."

Quite!!!
And I certainly don't recall things "falling into place" for us over the last 45 years I've been a fan.......

I'm quite vocal about my dislike of Leeds fans, but I had similar. At work somebody I sort of knew was telling me about how he was a season ticket holder and followed them at most away matches. I asked if he'd been to Griffin Park, he asked who played there. When I told him he said that he didn't do cup games. We'd played them in League 1 and two seasons in the Championship at that time. Was he a liar or just an ignorant c*nt?

This is gold.
Anyone would think we've just bought promotion two years in a row.
The other week we were the team of bottlers that blows promotion year after year. Shrug.
