Has anyone else's dislike of Swansea sort of melted away? I have no desire to check their forum really when I thought I would after the game. All the tension has gone out of our rivalry IMO.

I said a while back the main problem was that the stuff we hated about them was the stuff their own fans hated about them but just didn’t like being told by a rival. Reading their match thread, apart from a few who were still banging on about Frank, that is borne out. They knew how limited and unadventurous they’d become, how Cooper’s style was far from what they had built in their previous rise, how reliant on loans, how little their owners had cared or invested in the squad and that we were basically just better all round, especially on the day. But it’s like all the little and big irritants your wife might have. You know them, you know how it feels when she’s loaded the dishwasher all wrong again. But if someone you aren’t great mates with says to you in the pub “LOL your wife’s an absolute effing nightmare” you’ll go ballistic.

I feel they’ve been up and down too many times in the past few years, they give me Norwich/Fulham vibes. Swansea have only been promoted once, and the one relegation. I do think though that for the neutrals Brentford would be the better team for promotion. The Swansea side that was promoted...www.redcafe.net

Yes, Nottingham Forest are terrible to watch and rubbish, but it would be better if they were in the PL than us because everyone could sit around remembering Brian Clough, and that one time in their history they weren't bang average. I know some folk don’t agree with me but clubs like Brentford, Bournemouth, Wigan, Reading etc don’t belong in the top flight. They offer nothing beyond existing to survive. I know we would probably be the same but we would contribute more in terms of the away day for other fans, the history and nostalgia.
I mean, for example where would you rather go, Dean Court or the Stadium of Light, the Madjeski or Hillsborough?
They’re just tin pot clubs with tin pot grounds. I suppose it doesn’t matter watching on Sky though

The irony is the "history" he values is all about being a smaller club upsetting the big boys, which is what Forest used to be about. All of a sudden now they find the idea upsetting. Funny that.
Nor do Forest with their dire football of ages now.

Someone needs to remind these other fans that having been in the top flight does not actually mean anything for the future, particularly those that are badly managed by dubious owners who also think that a dusty trophy cabinet wins matches... ask any Northampton Town fan...
All my Championship supporting mates were very supportive at FT. People who are objective and non-biased understand that the brentford model is the best route to success if you don't have a billionaire owner or state owned funds .... lots of jealousy in those threads..

Not really, I am watching the highlights for 5th time and they are still ****s.
Fans and club are OK, it’s the manager and the style he plays.
He was saying he thought the ref was doing us all the favours. Deluded,I thought they got most 50/50 decision, about 5-6 stone walls yellows and a red no given.
The red card was probably an unfortunate slip but it was out of control and dangerous so always a red. Ayew elbows raya and the ball hits the bar, the goal would have been given, that is a tactic they use to attack the keeper and get away with it just like the shirt pulling at corners.
Once we got two they were never going to get three because a team set up to cheat and illegally stop better teams play and grab a goal from bundled free kick are not going to get three.

Having a billionaire owner has helped us quite A bit though. We might do things the right way but wouldn’t have done it without MB’s 150m odd input.
Think you'll do at least OK in the PL. I like Brentford F.C. b/c I met my (American) wife on Brentford station, 1985. Lived in Twickenham then and went to Griffin Park a few times. Been far away across the ocean these past 30+ years, back home to see family the past month (worth the ten days isolation.) You'll forgive me only just noticing the play-off score, been somewhat preoccupied and drowning in disappointment after my 24 hour round--trip between Manchester and Porto. (It's 22 years since City won their play-off final against Gillingham so perhaps in 2043 it'll be Brentford v. Atletico Bilbao or some such in another CL final.)

After Cooper went to Thomas just before the end & shook his hand my hatred for him & Swansea did wain, I even went on their forum & contemplated telling them that next year might be their turn as they played (or didn't) like us last year but "Christ" after reading a few of their moronic comments normal service was resumed - they are a bunch of Knobs.
Wasnt this year their last with the parachute payments? Given theve been carried (kind of) by loan signings last 2 years i think they may struggle to push on next season, and i wouldnt lose any sleep over it

That gillingham team had 11 ex Brentford players in it that lost in the play off's with Brentford the year before. They went up the year after.

They've got no chance. Ayew will be off.. All the loans will go back, no more parachute payments, 2 big teams (and Fulham) coming back down, all with cash to spend. Going to be a long hard season for them I think..

Got chatting to some Swans fans in the pub we ended up in after the game last night in Ealing. They'd been to the game and were staying over. (Not sure why Ealing??!!!).
They were OK, but kept dropping in little digs about Thomas Frank, the fact that Ivan would be off, and look them up again when we'd had 7 years in the PL like they had, and had won a major trophy........
In fact, on reflection, they were a bunch of c***s, just like 99% of their fan base seem to be.....

Feel that Premier League could become a closed shop of sorts as this year was predictable that WBA and Fulham would get relegated and that the Top 5 of Championship would consist of the three relegated sides us and maybe Swansea. Thats as it turned out..in fact if Bournemouth didnt have that dodgy spell under Tindall they may well have gone up instead of Watford and I wouldn't have wanted to play Watford in the Final.
This year I think the Top of the Championship will be the three relegated sides and Bournemouth.... and I actually dont think the three relegated sides are that good but who else will challenge them , Barnsley?
