I think there are Bees fans that still get drawn in by the lazy reporting of "Manager Thomas Frank's Brentford". Thomas is a component of Matthew Benham's Brentford and the club will continue doing what it's doing with or without Thomas – he's the conductor, not the composer.
Very true, so really what you are saying and I agree with, is that it's a pointless exercise replacing Thomas whatever our form is. It's Matthew Benham we need to get rid of.

He won't go based on whether we go up or not, he'll go if he stops executing the clubs strategy as required. Us, Swansea and Norwich don't go into two slots, and despite all being very well managed this season, someone is going to fail. You can't get rid of any of them so the idea that we would dump him seems ridiculous.

So Promotion was for the taking last season Stoke away Barnsley home and the play off final 3 chances and blew it .This season we reach the top of table then lose 2 games .If we dont go up this season then I dont think Thomas is the man to do it .

I don't think the club will replace him if we don't go up. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He'll be a better manager for the experience as well.

Would that be the same promotion that was there for the taking when we were 11 points off 2nd with only 10 games to play??

Forget about the 10 games to go....with 2 games to go we were in pole position. This blip is very reminiscent of last season, we get in pole position and we start to lose...

How can you forget about winning 8 wins on the trot? It doesn't make any sense

I don't mean literally the poster above stated that promotion was there for the taking....with 2 games to go it was and we froze, thats hard to disagree with.

By the way Franks is the man, i'm in no way advocating that he is not the man for the job.

Did we "bottle it" or didnt we? What a high level of analysis to apply to the very complex job TF is doing. FFS.
Come on mate .. just because we’ve lost 2 on the bounce two thirds into the season .. you can’t compare it to losing games 45 & 46 last season .. sorry
Its more a reflection of me getting carried away and thinking we were as good as promoted I think..

A typical gpg meltdown.
Let’s see what happens in the next series of games before the “bottle it“ phrase gets mentioned
All I'm saying is if we dont go up this season with the position we are in and the team we have and what happened last season I wouldn't be confident of Thomas getting us up next season

Not as long as you granted but been going since 1984, 1-1 v Plymouth (Tony Lynch) season ticket holder for the majority of the time since then, played for the youth team in the 90’s, got my name in the programme for scoring a goal against Watford. Went to the first game at the new stadium, named my dog Hurlock...

It was just an error..

Let's wait and see what happens this season mate.
Plenty of time in the summer if things go wrong.
In the mean time just chill and give it a rest.

Bit of a bust-up between TF and Austin following their winner it would appear.............
From BBC Sport report:

"QPR boss Mark Warburton on the win and Charlie Austin's goal celebrations near Bees boss Thomas Frank: "Thomas and Charlie will shake hands and move on.
"It's a local derby with emotions running high and Charlie's just scored the winner - it's never going to be nicey-nicey. Someone might not agree with the way he conducted himself, but Charlie's a top-class pro and it means a lot."

Didn't notice it myself.
Anybody see it/seen footage after??..............

I'd take that over finishing mid table year on year with nothing to play for by March. Maybe we should wait to see how the next 16 games go first at at start of season I'd have taken 57 points as a good finishing having sold our two best forwards and having long term injuries to two other major players.

He ran right up to the Bees bench and turned to them, as they were seated, with clenched fists, celebrating like he'd won the FA Cup.

Good from Frank, etc that they didn't flinch.

FFS the doom mongers are out in force again. Anyone need reminding that we've only lost 5 games this season and are second (in an auto promotion place) right now. You'd think we'd just got relegated from some of the sh*t people are posting!!

Saying forget the 8 wins is just as valid as saying forget last season's Barnsley at home and Wembley. Take each game on it's merit or include all. Had we lost 8 on the bounce and won v Barnsley it wouldn't have mattered. TF is our most successful manager with one season in charge, plus this one in very odd circumstances. We may have been much better off with 1 and occasionally 2 games a week. We won't know until hopefully next season. He has already improved on last season. You can't ask much more than improvement. I think he is very much the man to take us up. He is right more often than not.

He also baits Rico after his poor header for their first goal. Absolute ****.
I think - I maybe wrong here - but Ivan might have done the same thing. Or bounced the ball off his head. Pontus would've sorted Austin out if he had been out there.

Ivan did it against Reading, picked the ball out of the net and then bounced it off their defenders head.

To which my reaction would be; 'so what?'

When I started supporting Brentford we were near the bottom of the 4th Division. We've spent only about 7 of the last 66 seasons outside of the 3rd or 4th tier. I always dreamed of us being in the second tier but never even bothered to think about the top flight because it seemed so utterly unlikely. Now, thanks to clever investment and some supremely smart people running the club we find ourselves in a position where the impossible has become possible. But we are punching way above our weight by pretty much every metric you can think of. A place in the Premier League would be wonderful but even the fact that we are able to have serious conversations about the prospect is utterly bonkers.

Comparisons are difficult because of all the material advantages TF enjoys over past incumbents but he is surely one of the very best managers/head coaches we have been fortunate enough to employ. Could anybody draw more from the current squad? Possibly there are some out there who could, but the risk is enormous - Alan Curbishley and the hubris of Charlton fans spring to mind straight away. Just so long as we remain competitive in the Championship we are still living the dream. Losing top spot at this level is probably the best mini crisis we have ever experienced. These are the very best times any Brentford supporter under the age of about 80 has known and while we can still hope for even more we have no right to expect or demand it.

Wouldn't mind so much if it was actually a decent goal but it was a jammy deflection

Nothing wrong with thomas, if he is good enough, to take us in 3rd last season, then he is good enough to take us into top two imo.

When he's back I hope he plays with Janelt we need to start getting clean sheet as I fancy us to score in most games.

Think it might be a bit much to expect Thomas to coach the side and play mate ;)
