Brentford manager Thomas Frank batted away complaints over time-wasting from Wolves boss Bruno Lage and insisted his side fully deserved their first Premier League away victory as they won 2-0 at Molineux.

Afterwards Lage complained about the number of Brentford players needing treatment in the second half, plus a change of gloves for goalkeeper David Raya, but Frank responded with a wry smile.

“First of all I want to praise Bruno for his fantastic coaching career and the job he has done with Wolves,” he said. “He is an excellent coach and I hope you write that with what is coming next.

“I could ask him what he would have done if he was leading a newly-promoted team. We are just a bus stop in Hounslow, playing against Wolves, established in the Premier League and with 10 times our budget, leading 2-0 away, 10 versus 11.

“I think his players would lose a bit of time also. But I could also ask him how the first half went.

“You look at the game and did we deserve to win? Yes. Expected goals, big chances, everything. When it was 11 versus 11 and when it was 10 versus 11. You don’t use excuses, just say you lost to the better team on the day.”

Frank offered to post a picture of Raya’s gloves – which he insisted had a large hole in them – on the club’s website for any doubters, but preferred to focus on a performance in which Brentford showing their attacking threat in the first half and their defensive strength in the second.

😄
Hint of sarcasm in his praise of Lage, or you could call it sh*thousing.

He surprises me with some subs but I tend to forget that he works with the squad all week and is therefore far more aware of their current fitness levels and capabilities than us lot.
He has a very unusual and effective plan for playing with 10 men in the back half of a game with a 432 formation. We did Bournemouth with it last year too.

I feel we are so lucky having a guy like TF in charge. As people have said he's intelligent, thoughtful and insightful and extremely well qualified. I think he makes a refreshing change in interviews from some of the more moronic managers you hear ranting on post match. Let's not forget also the part Brian Riemer plays in all of this . He seems again to be very well qualified with an excellent background making him the ideal right hand man for TF.

Good point regarding Riemer. I wonder if he holds ambitions to become a ‘no.1’ in the future. It’s the slightly left field appointment you could imagine a League 1 club making.

*Checks if Thomas Frank interview questions are still open.

Or us when Frank gets an offer he can’t refuse elsewhere. Not sure why Brian would want to go to a L1 club.

Haven’t we done that already?

And, to answer the Brian question, to be a No.1.

Number one in a club that has none of what we have. I could see him getting a job in Denmark above that.

Brian Riemer is the defensive coach and I think he's the one driving the "shall not lose" mindset.
Thomas Frank said:
Brian is a very experienced coach, with three-and-a-half years as Assistant Manager at FC Copenhagen under his belt. He has won championships, and experienced both Champions League and Europa League football.

He comes from an environment where winning is the expectation, and we are looking forward to him bringing this mindset to Griffin Park. For the past ten years he has dedicated himself to coaching and developing players, and we look forward to having him bring the same energy, experience and drive to the setup here at Brentford.

I just understand why so many opposition fans dislike Thomas so much, I genuinely don't get it. He's never rude or disrespectful towards opposition fans or teams. He's certainly no Neil Warnock!!!

From a leeds supporting colleague its because he comes across as a bit cocksure. I think that refers back to some of the comments TF made about Leeds when they went up and we didnt (along the lines of we were the better footballing side). To me though I think it was just good old PMA - though I must admit at the time some of the interviews did feel a bit hubristic in the lead up to the Stoke and Barnsley games.

(assume you are missing the word "don't") ...
Because he manages tinpot Brentford and not Liverpool or Chelsea etc or also not a world class ex-pro therefore not allowed to presume to make intelligent comments or show passion.

Can’t take everything Leeds fans say at face value. According to some of them we only got promoted because of Bielsa.😄

I wonder if he will get the credit when we beat them🤔😏

you can offer education but not are going to want to be educated, not until it’s to late anyway

I see this lunacy and raise the stakes a bit higher :) Please note - this actual w*nktrocity was posted one month before Brentford got promoted to the Premier League……

It baffles me. I know this might sound arrogant or just not nice lol

But some people just don't have football intelligence.
Don't understand the game properly. Can't read tactics/games/players properly. And say stupid stuff as a result.
I'll even admit my dad sometimes I wince at his comments I love him to bits but he says stuff and I'm like have you thought properly "football" minded about what you just said lol

I know people have different opinions I accept that but some people just don't have a football brain.

Every win and we'd need to play the same XI the following game, even if it's two days later. Every loss we should make 5 changes. Frank doesn't know what he's doing 'if he doesn't select this player who I personally like.'

I think most people currently really appreciate what we have here with this Head Coach, but some of those takes last year are really shallow. The team are soo well prepared and organised for our system that it's unbelievable. We are currently very, very fortunate to have him.

It's like Leeds fans two years ago, slating Bielsa for not doing what they wanted him to do. Utterly moronic...

Why am i not surprised to see that name with that post.
Some people are just edgy for the sake of it but come across as unintelligent plebs
Is that the bloke who always tries to post first on the official BFC twitter feed when the team is announced prior to a game?

Probably in the dark recess of his bedroom praying for the day we lose a couple of matches so he can begin his next electronic media Frank Out campaign.......

Am I the only one to notice there appear to be at least 10 GPG’s who were very verbose last year with their constant negative posts .......up to the time when we beat Swansea and now don’t comment at all...I can’t imagine why😎
Verbose, eh! Well that's a polite way of putting it. Bl**dy numbskulls!

Great interview, crazy how that millwall game panned out and then managed to turn the corner for us and set us on the trajectory that has lead to us being where we are.
