Great read, pretty much sums up my current malaise with the 'sport'.

Aha. Someone commented on another thread that the atmosphere was sh*t at Griffin Park (again) and I said that I couldn't give a sh*t any more. I was criticised a little for my lack of support but a lot of that article is what I meant - I love watching football matches and I now no longer care about much of the sideshow. The match I've most enjoyed this year was my boy's Under 15 team winning 3-2 in what was a muddy, crap at times, competitive and dramatic game. As the boys came off, I could see in their eyes just how alive and in love with football they were at that moment. That's what I love about football and I'm now learning to accept or ignore all the other sh*t to keep getting that buzz.

Probably everybody except those who benefit financially from the whole thing will agree entirely with this article.

A load of sense there, particularly this bit...
'I’m tired of the fury and rage that greets every announcement as if it is a personal affront; sometimes football matches are postponed, sometimes football matches are lost, sometimes players are sold. I’m tired of the constant search for a scapegoat. I’m tired of the childish dismissals of anything a past player or manager ever did for the club as being ‘sh*t’. I’m tired of the twisting of the past to suit current arguments.'

Not me, GPG plus the BBC for results (occasionally). I don't watch any TV football anymore, unless the Bees are playing, and certainly don't visit any other websites, message boards or ring radio stations.
Football for me is in a state that I don't like and have taken my ball home.

I agree with it all, but he failed to mention the TV coverage, which is possibly the most boring and saturated aspect of football these days.

Tired of premier league football which is full of Carlos kickballs and tired of the England team who are a bunch of overhyped show-ponies.

Don't have Sky so only watch the FA Cup,, the Champions League and MOTD.

Still think football outside the premier league is great.

Only really follow the Bees these days.
Premiership is only interesting this season as there's been a break in the norm with Leicester and Spurs doing well.
FA cup is dead
Too many foreigners and a substandard England team.
Money is wrecking the game

just a quick "outside" perspective - it really was quite noticeable when i moved, and i found it liberating, to be away from all the hype and hysteria. as Les mentioned, the sideshow is frankly becoming irritating. and money is certainly wrecking the game. it really is nice to be a step back from all the hubbub and appreciate things for what they are :)

Agree with every word. Sad, really. Would be lovely to wind the clock back 25 years. And yes, that does mean I'd rather watch football in dilapidated stadia on a pitch not suitable for crown green bowls. Cheaper, better atmosphere, more competitive, hardly any cheats, no diving, refs not pilloried, a more even playing field, money not at the root of all evil, players not seen as demi-gods, and genuinely exciting TV coverage, even though there was far less of it (which is why it was better).

Twice I'd say, they had a run in the Championship from 2008 until 2012. Sucks that the 2012/13 season was for them a return straight back from whence they came.

You should add overpriced. You now get an 18 year old kid Rashford going to be paid £15000 per week just because he scored some goals at the weekend, Not forgetting the ridiculous Rooney and likes are paid.
