What did you think about having a transfer forum as opposed to a thread?

As you will know we tried a different format for this window. Instead of having a single thread in the Team Talk Forum, we had a whole new forum with a thread per player

Did you, fellow GPGers, like it or lumped it?

I like one thread per player.
But I would volunteer to moderate some of the repetitive speculation.

I honestly can’t remember, but was there more extraneous and uninformed posts? Opinions are great, but not when presented as fact. Or are you just collecting data?

Don't pat yourself on the back too soon. I think the inevitable amount of activity helped and January will be much quieter.

Oi, who do you think I am? Cliff Crown?

This is information gathering, not "Matthew Benham trusted me to assemble a wonderful team" etc. etc.

The length of this window and inevitable sagas made this approach better. You may be lucky to get a 10 page single thread out of January.
Why does the title here say SIGNED?
Had to choose a prefix due to Nazi Mod rules.
You could have selected "No Prefix" like I just did. :)
Keep the dirty linen to your own forum!

Wasn't sure about it at the start but actually think it worked quite well in the end..

Separate threads for potential incoming players were useful. Outgoing players probably didn't need an additional thread to their existing one IMO.
This, but would add some of the 'rumour' incoming threads should have been drowned at birth, due to being based on nothing at all.

Haven't to admit wasn't a fan of threads for each suggested player..

Just seemed to be lots of names we would/could never get or want....

Maybe we should ditch the 'suggestion' option? Some of them were ludicrous...

Worked well on the whole once we all got used to it. A couple of unnecessary threads for players very loosely linked, but that can happen. I would have one thread for 'Suggestions', rather than individual ones.

I agree about outgoing players not needing two threads. You sometimes had both threads active at the same time for the same player.

But I was won over, after some initial skepticism.

It was a 100% improvement... Easy to follow... Knew who posters were talking about.

The title tags were great advising if it was just aa rumour, a suggestion, substatianted or a ship that just sailed.

More please

I liked the new format. The only thing I would add is maybe a read only 'at a glance' thread which would be locked so only the members known to be privy to the odd bit of inside info could update . This would help when members only have the odd minute or so to check the latest goings on and can get relevant updates without having to read all updated posts in every thread. Which I enjoy doing when I have the time to do so.
I appreciate this might be a lot of work for the mods that already put a lot of time in on here .

Liked it, bar some “suggestion” ideas, because that’s not actual speculation (if actual speculation is even a thing).
Suggestions could be its own sub thread as it’s just us chewing the fat.

Worked much better overall.

And personally, I actually enjoyed the gravitas awarded to each suggestion with their own. thread :pop:

Is that apart from the rumour incoming threads that turn into actual signings? I think the GPG as a whole did well in weading out wild rumours from unreliable sources and over time the ridicule heaped on people that post without first researching the source will tighten that up further.

I liked the new format, maybe a further tutorial, based on feedback, on how to use the forum to best effect might be a good idea as there seems to be quite a few saying "I didn't know you could do that"

Only call up new posts and just found it frustrating that you'd have 2 threads per current player. Think it works for incoming players but not for outgoing

Was it my imagination, or did quite a few rumour/suggestion threads get started by you?!
touche! Actually didn't start any suggestions though I don't think? Was going to put Eddie Hutch up at one point but decided against it....

Voted for much better. But agree with earlier comments that outgoing threads were not really needed.

I liked it.

I support a thread for each outgoing player. I am a seasonal visitor here these days who tends to get drawn in to the gossip around the end of the transfer window - there must be many like me. I don't tend to read the latest in team and players talk every week. It was helpful to be able to see who the incoming and outgoing speculation was for by scrolling one forum. Eg I could see there was speculation about Mbeumo and Raya on a new thread and not by reading page 181 of their existing player thread every time someone posts on that.

Im not sure if it's a brand new change but thanks also for leaving the "outgoing" thread open for a day or two to react and round off the discussions.in the past it has felt like the thread is locked the microsecond the transfer appears on the official site leaving all discussions to continue in "news of former bees". I understand the logic of the old approach but prefer this one.

I thought it was great.

Agree RE points about suggestions having their own subsection; but can't say I agree with points about outgoing players. I actually really like the split, and I think once everyone is used to it it'll become easier for everyone.
One thread regarding speculation, another based on performance and "general chat" works really well
