They worked fecking hard to get strikers, offered unbelievable amounts in transfers, agents fees and wages. Most on here get this but agreeing fees is the easier part and then the greedy games begin. Anyone suggesting they left it to the last minute or reacted late is so far off the mark. This has been a brilliant window with a late twist that went slightly against us, it’s done now so we have a very talented squad to mess around with and to watch evolve, they worked their bums off to get that forward in, how do I know, I just do.

Being an old f**t, I remember when we were excited to sign Mickey Cooke for £1,000.00.

Now millions.

Long may it last!!!

It's been a banging transfer window.
Goalkeeper: upgraded (I think)
Centre backs: brought in better 'defenders'
Wing backs: have some (what looks like) quality cover on the left, Sergi/Clarke on the right
Midfield: quality additions, shame about Sawyers but Jensen already looks amazing and Norgaard could be what we've been missing, Yearwood definitely a good prospect
Wingers: incredibly kept both Said and Ollie, as well as adding another 2 (Mbeumo and Valencia) who both look quality
Striker: only position with a downgrade, but always thought we stood no chance of keeping Neal. Do have options to cover, and I'm sure that'll be discussed to death.
In all, we've kept 2 of the 'big 3' in Ollie and Said, as well as adding a more solid backline, and some midfield upgrades. And some potential for the future. Couldn't ask for much more. Still reckon we can get top 6.

Poor sod looks knackered. I bet he's put in a serious shift the last few weeks. How anyone can knock our transfer activity is beyond me.

We have a good few fans who wouldn't pass the club's no d1ckhead policy if it applied to supporters that's for sure.

Not a silly question, you are not alone in wondering why the interviewer did not get that clarified.
Probably the question most would like answered also why we went for Godoss when he had issues which were i believe
quite well published.

Absolutely right. Phil looks absolutely shattered in that video. We were probably one signing away from the 'greatest transfer window.....ever' and Phil & co were working their arses off to make it happen.

Some of the stories are just bonkers and dealing with football madmen must be infuriating.

If we are in the mix in January then expect another bonkers window.

And the general is still here.

If I was forss, Watkins, canos or marcondes I would be thinking fukk you, what do you need all this lot for when I am here. You need to get past me first.

It had nothing to do with his previous proposed transfer. It failed because of the agent. Nothing more.

Absolutely.

You offer stupid transfer fees, agree stupid salaries and the bollo goes on and on. Greed, greed, greed. In the end you say piss off enough is enough and send them home.

Dealing with charlatans and mercenary money grabbing shysters every day must wear you right out.

Every thieving second hand car salesman and barra boy is now managing the top football players and those people we all avoid in the markets on holiday are now the ones you need to do business with on a daily basis, truly exhausting.

Were we not concerned by his issues with Fifa which according to reports could see him banned?
Don't know but that wasn't the reason the deal stalled. Regardless, FIFA wouldn't ban a player if agents or clubs were found to have acted improperly.

That is key. We can't simply "write off" the season on 1st January if we're a few points adrift. We were above Aston Villa in the table in February last season, and look where they ended up!

I dont need it answered, I am not stupid enough to think for one second that was a factor.

We seem to know the shoe and pant size of every player in the world including Venezuelan left wingers skulking around in Poland, do you really think we were not aware of a well published fifa complaint regarding a previous contract signing?

We didn’t get it over the line cos they wanted 50k a week like West Ham and Newcastle pay to sh*t players who can’t run straight.

No. I suspect the club does some basic research on players such as reading the player's wiki page and it was on there obvious to anyone that can read English. This did not collapse over facts that were well known and public. It collapsed due to arsehole agents.

Nothing hugely revelatory in that video but a good assessment of the whole window. He’s never going to be able to share the juicy behind the scenes gossip of the deals that didn’t happen, as much as some here would believe they’re owed an explanation.

He seems like a thoroughly good bloke and as Nana points out he has worked his backside off this window. Top man

A couple more probing questions on how the day unfolded would have been good.
If I was interviewing my boss's boss's boss knowing the day/week/month he had had, I wouldn't be going all "Paxman" on him. Would you?

A really strong window. We got in some quality...
Raya
Jansson, Pinnock, Thompson
Norgaard, Jensen, Yearwood
Mbeumo, Valencia

Just a right back and CF short of a full set!

Some of them are serious quality, our wage bill must be considerable this year. Very good job to the entire team on getting this all done, here's to toasting promotion at the end of the season!

Wasn't concerned why it broke down, just thought it unlike brentford like to get involved in a situation that could involve a player being suspended, nothing to do with what his
agent or him wanted, however he didn't sign lets let it go.

Am I the only one concerned by the bit at the start where Phil emphasised that the “outgoing window is still open”

It would be nice if you did recognise how much work and effort went in to try and make this the perfect window. Some of your earlier posts "we should have done this earlier", "why didn't we do this or that?" "We don't have any strikers". Let me ask you, how do you think Matthew Benham is feeling tonight? It's his money, his risk and he was prepared to splash the cash? Would you answer this question for me please? Do you think you are more disappointed than Matthew that we were unable to pull it off?

He needs a drink and a holiday. Well done sir.
I'm sure he'll have a weekend back on Tyneside but I think it's back to work next week. There are decisions on potential contract extensions for at least 5 players, then there's the focus on a striker target list for January.

So, are we getting Dervisoglu or not? This is the weirdest bit of this whole saga. I'm not actually that fussed by Ghoddos not happening, he looked impressive but it was by no means certain he was going to be an out and out striker.. Dervisoglu looks like an incredible talent and would be an extremely exciting purchase if we can get him in, however there's been absolute silence on this one despite both his dad and his club saying he was over here.. Not even a hint!!

Shame he didn’t explain the Ghoddos episode
....sometimes you have to say no to someone when they demand....i do it with my kids often enough....give in to greed and you're in trouble....parent or business.

I thought he was coming in January. Is that not the case?

He gets 5 months off now, so I'm sure he'll be happy :fishing:
