In the next few days or weeks, we will be migrating to new software for the GPG. For those interested we will be leaving vBulletin and moving to XenForo.

I believe we move software providers once before in about 1937 and it caused a lot of angst. So please prepare yourselves.

We have already performed a test migration and it looks good. Some wrinkles to work out, but otherwise OK. There will be some teething problems, and some features may take a little time to appear, and some may not reappear. But I hope you all will like the multicoloured seats.

If there are a handful of you that are sufficiently interested in having a sneak preview of the new software then please let me know. You will probably be an expert in fonts, colours, svg, or maybe xenforo.

There will be no drone footage or "farewell old software for the GPG" shirts produced.

Will we be able to pick any part of the old GPG as memorabilia, such as fonts, smileys or notifications of infraction? Will there be test events?

For the first few months we will have to run at reduced capacity due to a nasty virus.

True. Ace Face has already said that he doesn't want to use it unless everyone can.

ps don’t sell off the plans, pennants and one offs that were prototypes and not for sale. Thanks.

We will be selling off old posts that we don't want anymore. Some of the more valuable posts we expect to be sold for at least 2p

Are we still allowed to call smilies, smilies? or do we have to be politically correct and call them emojis?

Great to hear! Was possibly the biggest weakness I'd say, although worked pretty well last time I tried it.

One thing I have been thinking recently, is that can the emojis be updated? They're very....2004 era ones. It would be good to get the options you can get for phones and WhatsApp etc.

I won't ask about the name of the site lol

Emoji: native American term meaning "he who resembles emotional state of poster". I really don't think it apt to be appropriating this kind of language in this day and age.

Will you be migrating the original cesspit of vitriol, or will work start on a brand new one following the upgrades?

Seems to have gone down well with all 300,000 previewers.

Therefore the new crest a 100% success already.

I assume you will be raising funds through auctioning items from the old GPG :)
Yes, but not expecting much for your posts - except perhaps ones that blackmail your neighbours.

I am furious about this, why were we not consulted about possible changes? :very angry:

I blame the marketing team.

I can't take all this emotion of moving.

Firstly a new stadium, atleast we had 20 years or so to get use to it, and now this.
