Wow, if anyone wants to see the difference between the Brentford of last season and this then watch the first half highlights of the Derby game from early last season on the official site.
We are certainly more efficient and solid but the flair has diminished.
I am not complaining. The season is long and hard and needs must and if we can get out of this league with our new approach then all's well and good. I would like to see us start games at home on the front foot though.Weve been sexy and silky for ages though and the end result is that we are still in the championship, if sacrificing abit of swagger gets us up then so be it. Weve hardly started playing Pulis ball, im sure the free flowing football will return
We went 4th when we beat Rotherham last week.....This the sort of game that is a must win, and will be a real test of whether we are going to battle our way through, both mentally and physically,
On paper, we win. But as Blackburn showed, even 10 men can easily upset us, when we get complacent.
Derby will be looking for at least a point, and will be very defensive . So it’ll be closer than we would like, but 2-1 to us going into the last 10 minutes, and then we heave a sigh of relief with a very late goal.
The mental challenge is that this is a real opportunity to get 3rd or 4th tonight, depending on Reading’s result, and close in on Bournemouth.
We do need to win at these moments, because they are key, and as we showed right at the end of last season, you can’t keep missing out on opportunities to push up the table!
