Friends: I am assuming most of you will have seen the sad news about the death of West Wilts Bee (Peter Hayward) last weekend. I don't think a date has been set for the funeral service yet – hopefully we should have that in a day or two, however the family intend for it to be a celebration of Peter's very rich life – with Brentford Football Club at the centre of it.

The family have requested FIFTY "Brentford branded face masks". I have been in touch with the Club and they have agreed a very generous discount, so I will be buying them next week. I am prepared to underwrite the cost for this, around £230, but obviously if anyone wants to chip with modest donations to soften the pain – well, I won't turn it down.

Please message me directly if you wish to help.

Hi stedders, given Peter's contribution to the GPG over the decades and given the level of donations to the GPG recently. I'd be happy for the GPG funds (as donated by members far and wide) to be appropriated for this. So put us down for £230.

Lovely gesture Nana, I’ve donated already so happy for mine to be redirected towards the air ambulance or any other charity the brothers choose.

That is such a kind and generous gesture from you.

From me and all the family, thank you very much.

Very generous.

More than happy for my small contribution to the GPG to be used in this way.

Cheers 'nana. I have received £60 so far – I will forward this to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
Many thanks all.

Heartily approve of this.

It is really fitting there is a general contribution from GPG. It feels particularly apt as representing those of us who only knew Pete as West Wilts Bee.
