There is no loyalty in this game. Not with their short careers and greedy agents. Lets be realistic, if Fulham offered Forshaw treble the wages he'd kart wheel to SW6 to sign if it was stipulated in the agreement.Wigan, Cardiff, whoever lets get 4/5M and get rid of a want away player and maybe stick on a sell on fee of our own. Were not short on midfielders anyway, get it over with this cant be good prep for a new season. My main love of Brentford is due to bees being in the family, the fans, away trip banter and pride in the community (although im now up north) this overrides on field success for me. players come and go and whilst the saga has been distasteful im not going to loose any sleep. Heres to Saturday. Up the bees.

Looks like he's on his way. When someone tweets that they are unsettled then it's not the best sign !!!!!! Get money and move on

ffs this is dragging on
What are you on about, it's great that it's dragging on, we're not rolling over and are holding out for our demands, we'll get raided by all and sundry if we show we're a soft and easy touch. Get with the plan, of course it will drag if we stand our ground.

We should hold on as long as possible.......

I never said I did. My statement was that if a bid from whoever doesn't meet our valuation of a player, why tell the player? Just 'cos someone makes a bid, you don't have to tell the player. No contract would have that, otherwise players would go for 10K, not millions, just because someone's bid for them. As Burford Bee said, he's our player and nothing has changed, so why is he unsettled or has someone been talking to him behind the scenes. Nice little signing on fee etc.?

Rejected bids stating the player do not get released to the press unless someone is trying to stir up trouble and force the move, which Wigan are. We had the nerve to reject the bid, so they've released the story.

People saying "anyone would leave if offered more money" doesn't fit with sports players. They are an asset to a company (like a computer), not like an employee. If you have a laptop that's worth £2K, you don't sell it for £10 just because someone's put in a bid.
Of course contracts can state that a player is informed of ANY bid that comes in for them and you would be very naive to believe otherwise. Agents would ensure that such provision is in many a contract.
Your others comments about him being an asset is true. However nobody is suggesting that he should be sold below what asset value BFC consider suitable. That doesn't however stop someone bidding below that expectation or the player being informed of any bid.
Do you believe that Odubajo first bid was accepted by Orient? I would be surpised if we started at £1m and I would be surpised if they didn't want a little more up front, but went on to agree a fee. That is how it works.
The other thing about football players is that loyalty should work both ways, but we all know that clubs will try and offload players they no longer fancy as an asset to whoever comes along and often forces players out of contracts or indeed left to train on their own etc.

Not that I think we should play him but what is the cut off time for transferring players to sign with their new clubs. Isn't it 5pm the day before?

Really hope it is not a new signing but Forshaw signing a new contract. Would cause a few people to consider what they have written about him in the last few days....I can only hope!

It won't be Forshaw signing a new contract with us, he has two years to run and if we pay him what Wigan are likely to offer, the whole team and their agents will be knocking at the door asking for more"

Thats the trouble with Brentford, no ambition if we want players to stay or attract class players to the club we must have a Mont Blanc to sign paperwork with!

Brentford boss Mark Warburton for once hasn't commented on the situation lending credence to the rumours circulating on social media that a deal could be nearing completion.
Miaow. Maybe he's getting ready for Saturday.

What a daft thing for them to say particularly given how this has been handled from their side and that MW has only responded completely fairly and professionally when asked about the situation.

To be fair, it's an unofficial site

Its their equivalent of Beesotted isn't it?

I like the idea that it must be true as MW hasn't commented on social media rumours. If managers, not just MW, had to respond to every rumour that was on social media I'm not sure they would get any work done

Yep,

Guess stuff like the following could be under discussion

1) Fee agreement
2) asking Everton to lower their sell on %
3) Brentford wanting their own sell on %

Exactly.

All this "Friday 5pm" talk is irrelevant, since he can't be fit enough to play on Saturday for either Wigan or Brentford.

Meanwhile, every extra day he's on BFC's books is saving Whelan another grand or two in wages.

Too late. If your wife spends a fortnight at her mother's saying that she is leaving you then the relationship is as good as over. "One more tries" are almost always doomed for failure. Stephen Gerrard was the exception, but that's Merseyside where adultery is considered perfectly normal (note to admin - please check if this is libelous). If Forshaw was to take the field for Brentford again, it would either be under sufference or because we have satisfied his greed. He's gone. In every sense of the word. As for signing a new contract - that's the last thing I want. He has two years left on his current one which was perfectly acceptable to him a year ago. The timing is awful but the sooner we get rid the better. It's unfortunate but it's reality. We've got a Championship season to be getting on with :sorted:.

Might as well give him away then...rather than wasting all our money paying wages for someone who can't play this weekend!

What are you basing this on? Forshaw hasn't made any comment as far as I'm aware!
