All things considered - he was sh*t and disinterested for us apart from his very first game when he got 2 and missed a pen iirc.

Good luck to him.
He was never disloyal and, as far as I can remember always did his best for us.

Nice lad, wish him well. I think lg1 is probably his level where he is a decent striker.

Would agree with you but he just scored twice against a Premier League team.

A Weakened PL team who clearly weren’t up for it.

He was extremely poor when he was here. Looked as if he couldn't be bothered most of the time.

Pleased to see him doing so well this season. It was such a pity it didn't work out here. I'll never forget just how angry Dean Smith (as Walsall manager) was to lose him.

Still can't believe this guy only scored 4 goals for us. Great goal under pressure from 3 players in the best team in the country.

I have an irrational dislike for him based on a suspicion that I don’t think he really gave it 100% at Brentford.

I did say it was irrational.
He’s like a red rag to me for some umfathomable reason. Maybe it’s the beard.

It just never came off for him and missing that late penalty against Sheffield United made all the difference IMO. A hat trick on his home debut would have given him the impetus he needed. as it was injury, illness and international trips did for him. Gave up near the end and his performance at MK Dons was shameful but I would prefer to remember his match winning display at Notts County.

So nearly an instant hero v Sheff Utd. But agree that MKD away performance was an utter disgrace.

I think that’s it.
I detest his lack of ambition.

It’s weird as he obviously has the talent to player higher, and it seems in ‘big games’ he almost wants to prove that he’s been misplaced at a lower level...but then drops back into almost complacency again...

...It’s super frustrating for fans as most of us would rip off a limb to get out there on the pitch and put all we had in...however there is a growing breed of footballers for whom it’s just a job...Pogba and Sissoko in the premiership come to mind as higher level examples...and equally both of those fellas don’t really command any respect from me

Good(ish) player.

He tends only to score lots of goals in a system where his team focuses on creating chances just for him. I maintain he could score 10-15 goals in the PL if playing for a team with limited other striking options. Danny Graham did something similar for Swansea.

Problem is that when we had him, at the time we had a talisman in Clayton Donaldson who was just more important to the team. So if he did play, he was often shoved out wide (even then he didn't play badly, it just wasn't the right role).

2 goals against Man unt and 1 versus Man city, I reckon if he played for a decent champ side he would score goals. When he has played at this level the teams he has played for have been complete dobbins. If I had a fiver for every player who has been written off as a player who can't do it at this level even though prolific in League one I could buy us a new centre forward myself. He struggled here because Donaldson and Trotta fitted the bill and were scoring, maybe something about his attitude wasn't right so we sent him out on loan, don't know.

Donaldson played on the right, Trotta played through the middle.

Maybe he has something extra in the locker to show with a return to the Championship, no reason to think he can't get better.

Argh, we had a proven striker and let him go! The DoFs must resign. Etc etc etc...

Except that he didn't get any better while with Brentford, unlike a good few other strikers? And last season, he only scored five times in 33 Championship games for (an admittedly crap) Wigan.

Plus he'll be 27 in July.

Strange one - could still go either way?

I think he's probably a very good League One striker, and not good enough for the Championship... Fair enough if it's his level...

Hes a very good L1 striker but for me will never cut it in the Championship.
