£4m!!! That's nearly as good as the Yennaris deal.

Incredible.

To how much does that bring the grand total of the January incoming funds?

£23m?? But, don’t forget, these fees could be spread over the players contracts they signed, 2,3,4 years etc. So it doesn’t all come in at once, as some may think...

Also, just remembered, would Walsall also get a piece of the pie again??

yes, as it's further profit for us. Can't recall the size of their percentage however, 20%?

Yes, 20% iirc. Potentially another £150k for the saddlers then! £600k for Brentford?? Nice work. :)

£4m for Grigg though? lol

Is that the Easter Monday game after we got promoted where the players were on the piss for most of the weekend?! I think I’ll let him off that particular game. :D

He ran out of effort and energy getting from the coach to the dressing room!

I didn't like or rate him, if you hadn't guessed!

I was bloody annoyed. We threw it away. Soft penalty and then Grigg gave the ball away deep in their half. Didn’t chase back and they scored right at the end.

He was a disgrace that day.

That was definitely the final chance you sense he'd get, and it just told you that he has no future here. Possibly a year of substitute appearances and being played out of position killed his motivation. There was no way he was getting in the team ahead of Trotta and Donaldson though.

I was annoyed at it going 2-2 until I remembered 'oh yeah, we're promoted...it doesn't actually matter', although sort of had to train myself to think that a bit.

Add on Walsall's solidarity payments for his development between the ages of 17-22 which gives them another 2.5-3% of the £4m https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_(association_football)#Solidarity_contribution so up to another potential £120k. Presumably an extra 0.5% for us as well.

£4m is ludicrous, fair play to Wigan for that robbery :D

Sunderland are nuts to pay that money. Don't doubt he'll score a few for them, but £4m to buy a striker in the third division? Crazy money.

Looks like it's £3.25m + 750k in add-ons for Grigg

Played in a standard L1 style he’s a top goalscorer at that level. He’s not up to the Championship and he’s not up to playing even in L1 in a style that would work in the Championship as we found when being the exception to his great L1 record.

I suspect that he’ll score goals to help Sunderland up, which obviously is paramount for them to achieve this season, then they’ll sell him on to the next L1 promotion contender with a bit of cash to spend this time next year when he’s scored fewer goals in half a season in the Championship than a few Centre Backs. Again. Probably Reading.

Is @Magic reading this? £4million!?!?!?!

Shows how mad the market is out there when it comes to strikers.

How Grigg isn't starting ahead of Charlie Wyke at Sunderland I don't know. Even in the few minutes he was on last night Grigg won a couple of challenges and held the ball up when needed, Wyke didn't win the ball all night and offered nothing.

Features in the Sunderland til I Die documentary season 2 covering 18/19. From the looks of it, their owners were desperate to sign him at all costs

They paid well over the odds for him. Wigan basically rinsed them because the owner had no plan B.

I think it was £3m rising to £4m, which probably won't happen now. The owner just wanted the deal to happen because he found it exciting...

Yes it was very poor business but the pressure from the fans would have been huge especially as they lost Maja who was scoring for fun

Jack Ross the manager said he was worth 1.5m maximum but the dick of a chairman went out and done his own thing. Sunderland need new owners yet again, but need a clear plan that the supporters will need or have to buy into, as throwing money at it isn't what's needed there clearly.

Hat trick for MK Dons against soon to be relegated Swindon.
