Need it to be competitive too though, although reading the Bob Booker book, Dave Bassett deliberately arranged friendlies against lower standard opposition to give his strikers confidence.id like a small sh*te team , where we can score plenty of goals. . get the breadman on the blower
Dave W£bb did the same, I think. We were rubbish though, as soon as we started playing against sides that were supposedly our level.Need it to be competitive too though, although reading the Bob Booker book, Dave Bassett deliberately arranged friendlies against lower standard opposition to give his strikers confidence.
think we've played spurs, arsenal and southampton in recent (ish) behind closed doors friendlies.Perhaps Chelsea will be interested as we're not far, play decent football (so it will be a test) and they get a chance for another look at Said too. Be good for us to be really tested too.
- Clubs being forbidden from travelling for further than 90 minutes, though teams like Newcastle will be granted special dispensation if they have to travel further.
- All players must travel in their own cars, possibly in their kits.
- No official referees will be allowed, with members of coaching staff taking charge.
- Full risk-assessments of the stadium/training ground before games.
Strange one about no official referees... Can see some unpunished tackles going in.
Or our players before the transfer window. There was a brief article in the Times yesterday that said that Premier League teams would be allowed to play friendlies against teams within 90 minutes travel time and Brentford were specifically mentioned as potential opponents. I guess some of them will want to get a close up look at us before next season.
