I'd imagine we'd want to play a couple of reasonably competitive games before resuming the season but are we able to play friendlies?

I expect so. Lee Bowyer said this week that Charlton have a friendly against a PL team lined up.

Need it to be competitive too though, although reading the Bob Booker book, Dave Bassett deliberately arranged friendlies against lower standard opposition to give his strikers confidence.

Dave W£bb did the same, I think. We were rubbish though, as soon as we started playing against sides that were supposedly our level.

Presumably you can only play friendlies against other teams that are also routinely testing their players?

The only clubs training are those in the Premiership and Championship. So any friendlies will be PL v EFL

Perhaps Chelsea will be interested as we're not far, play decent football (so it will be a test) and they get a chance for another look at Said too. Be good for us to be really tested too.

Will not Play-off clubs in L1 / L2 be training at some point soon? Oxford maybe.

  • Clubs being forbidden from travelling for further than 90 minutes, though teams like Newcastle will be granted special dispensation if they have to travel further.
  • All players must travel in their own cars, possibly in their kits.
  • No official referees will be allowed, with members of coaching staff taking charge.
  • Full risk-assessments of the stadium/training ground before games.

Strange one about no official referees... Can see some unpunished tackles going in.

I disagree.
I think coaches know a little more about the laws than we give them credit and will apply them properly.

Reckon we will get quite a few asks with so many Prem clubs near by, our standard of Football and existing relationships

Isaac Success should have received two red cards, he was totally out of control.

There was a brief article in the Times yesterday that said that Premier League teams would be allowed to play friendlies against teams within 90 minutes travel time and Brentford were specifically mentioned as potential opponents. I guess some of them will want to get a close up look at us before next season. :)

Last time we played them in a PSF they kicked the sh*t out of us. Hope they don't try that again.
I got the tube from Waterloo to South Ealing that day as the trains were cocked ,after the game I accidentally got off at Covent Garden and didnt get home until 3 am

It wasnt really an accident ,seemed a good idea to have a beer or two in town ,and you know how it goes sometimes
