Assuming he is over his knee issues this is the perfect short term option. An experienced international centre half with something to prove who can come in and sit on the bench and play perhaps one game in four.

He will not get in the way of the pathway for younger defenders and at the end of the season we can review where we are. Hopefully Pontus will be back, Goode recovered and Reid will have done a decent job.

Far better this than a panic buy.

Surely a stop gap to fill in for Pontus? Plus he has experience of promotion with WHU, a valuable asset in the changing room!

He's 32 (according to Wikipedia), are we really considering someone that old?
Needs must I would say. Be interesting whether loan or permanent, but either way a good experienced replacement for the injured Pontus.

Wonder if Said had any input on the move, persuading Reid he would bee looked after well, and the good reputation of 'playing for Brentford'?

Said can't speak English. Reid is in the USA. Other than that, great thinking! :)

Suspect his Danish roots had a large part. I didn't appreciate his youth was spent in Denmark, playing for SUB Sonderborg and Midtylland before his transfer to West Ham. Wouldn't be surprised if he knows Thomas Frank already.

A great short term signing I’m sure he would feel comfortable in our set up with his Danish upbringing

West Ham have posted videos of Reid training with them in recent weeks. Still, I doubt him and Said have ever spoken.

Mind reading comes extra! Said must have a splattering of English by now...?

Very interesting but I wonder how it would work. If it did happen he would need a couple of weeks, subs appearances to get up to speed then would we rotate him with MBS and Pinnock? Don't think he would be coming here without a reasonable guarantee of playing a decent amount.

Doubt if there would be any guarantees as such. Just much more chance of being involved on a match day, IMO.

West Ham mate saying he will rip up the championship and will be an amazing player to have behind the scenes. I imagine Sorenson will be able to learn a lot off him. 150+ games in the prem and promotion experience too. All for this.

That's a good point. Ethan has been fantastic as a defender but he doesn't fill the leadership gap when Pontus is missing.

Would be an ideal signing (if fit) for the rest of the season given we have no genuine CB cover at the moment. He will certainly get some game time with two games a week. Mads and Pinnock will need a rest.

I can tell you Winston Reid is a decent leader and will get the in refs ear.

The main issue is that he has only played 12 games in 3 years and all of those were in the MLS.

Im not a fan of Winston Reid as a footballer after watching him week in and out. Hes OK (overrated IMO)

Will he do well in the championship? Yes, probably. but the rustiness concerns me.

From my WH season ticket holder brother : Quality player who never got his place back after he was out injured for so long. Ogbonna was fourth choice after diop and balbuena, and he was first choice. Now Craig Dawson is number 2 - how things change!

Lot of Premier League experience but a lot of serious injuries in the last few years. If he has anything left to give he could be very useful and we have nothing much to lose and everything to gain.

Biggest shock to me is that he's still at West Ham!

I kn0w this is easy to say when its not my nmoney, but even if it is us, still a good deal. Say 22 weeks at £70k a week is £1.5m With the profit on recent sales this seems a reasonable gamble to go for the golden prize of prem money.

Having seen our defence in some of the last few games i do think it needs a refresh, even if only temporary

We've probably got a dozen games at most to get out of him. As he's already played 10 this season, hopefully he can manage that.
