According to the commentary we are only the second team in history to get past five Premier League games having conceded only two goals. The other being Everton at some point apparently. Although Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have all conceded just one in four games so I expect one or more - possibly all of them might be joining our club soon.

Only caught the second half but what a great defence we have. And a huge uptick this season in our sh*thousery skills which might get slated by others, but most that slate us will do so from glasshouses. Top, top team. Up the Bees. :sorted:
It has certainly been a fantastic achievement but I understood it was the second 'just promoted' team having conceded only 2 goals that was the reference?

Here is your Saturday afternoon Fact Check courtesy of Untouchable (clean sheets aplenty edition):
  1. Win 2-0 away from home ✅
  2. First away win in the PL ✅
  3. First away win in the top flight since 5th April 1947 ✅
  4. Another clean sheet ✅
  5. Another game where we have more than competed against an established PL team ✅
  6. Another game where we have created multiple chances in addition to the goals ✅
  7. Fantastic defensive performance when we went down to 10 and even then we could have scored more ✅
  8. Only 2 goals conceded from our first 5 PL games ✅
  9. Still in the top half of the table ✅
  10. 8 points clear of Norwich, 7 points clear of Burnley, 6 points clear of Newcastle, 5 points clear of Leeds ✅
  11. Only 2 points from the Champions League places 😉✅
  12. Ajer fantastic at the back and the tackle to prevent a near certain goal shows why we parted with so much cash for him ✅
  13. Norgaard masterful in the middle. Once again covering more ground than any other player ✅
  14. Mbeumo is finally a PL goal scorer. His effort has deserved a goal and his ability and ongoing potential are frightening. Undoubtedly will be the third of the BMW to make us more than £30m ✅
  15. Baptiste had a moment of madness. But he’s made it in a game that hasn’t cost us anything. He’s earned his place in the team and will come back again ✅
  16. Ivan Toney. Wow. I’m not sure my meagre words can any longer describe how good he is. ✅
  17. Nice to see a bit of sh*thousery in our play towards the end. We’ve been on the receiving end too many times. About time we gave it out. ✅
  18. For those who are keeping count, of the relegated teams last year it took Fulham until match week 12 to reach 8 points; WBA until match week 15; and Sheffield United until match week 20. Relegation for the Bees? No chance ✅
  19. Liverpool next. They’re 15 league games unbeaten, 19 times Champions of England, 7 times FA Cup winners, 6 times Champions of Europe. But they haven’t won at Brentford in the league since March 1938. They’re getting smashed. ✅

Oh maybe. Perhaps I misheard. I did find it surprising to be honest. The other team was Everton. So if that's the case, it must refer to the top tier as opposed to the Premier League. :sorted:

What a superb away day, what a performance, and what character in delivering a near faultless away performance. This for me was a more impressive win than Arsenal. Let’s not forget that out of the starting line up only Ajer was not with us last season.

I was slightly apprehensive before the game as Wolves just won their first game of the season last weekend and I saw Wolves play United the other week and they were superb, creating chance after chance and were unlucky not to win that game. So to restrict them to not even a shot on target shows all we need to know about our performance led superbly from Toney and Mbeumo up top. Their link up play has been outstanding all season so far and got their rewards in terms of goals today.

This was also a master class of tactical nous from TF, got the team selection spot on, got the subs spot on and doubling up, sometimes three players on Traore their main threat, obviously showed we have done our homework on Wolves and the players executed the instructions perfectly.

I always followed the progress of Wolves in recent years as they came up to the Championship same year as us and with Leeds by far the best two teams in the 7 years we were in that league. But I feel we have overtaken on the pitch. We have continuity in our play with an excellent team spirit. Well done for Shannon tweeting. It was a mistake, he owned up and the players stepped up.

Anyway, fans were great and loud, every player was 10/10 for me, the sun was out, two points of second and even the M40 drive back was a breeze. Loving the Premier League and LR will be rocking next Saturday. Not had a drink all day so about to open a bottle (or two) of red.

Much non-biblical man love is forming within me for Ajer. Great player, but also such a character. His 'goal-like' celebrations for his tackles are one of the best things I've ever seen in football. 😂

A QUESTION THAT DEMANDS AN ANSWER

Just why did David Raya need to change his gloves, given that he didn’t need to use them all game?
Wolves came at us pretty hard at the start of the second half and Rico was being given a torrid time.
Cue, glove change to time waste, give us a breather to compose ourselves and to just waste a little time.
It's amazing that I've never witnessed that before. It's perfect as if it was an outfield player changing his boots, he'd be asked to leave the field, you can't have that happen with keepers. Absolute masterstroke

Just got home. About to open a celebratory bottle. What a game! What a win!
Toney was top top superb. Everybody else was merely….excellent. Ajer and Nørgaard super excellent. I’ve no more words, except to say that I forgive Shandon his moment of madness.

Agree with everything - but a coupe of extra little points.
1: in the first half we had our old attacking Bees back -
2: while Ivan and Christian got the top credits, Nathan Pinnok had yet another superb game. By my reckoning he's made just one mistake since promotion.
3: yes, we played 10 against 11 for most of the second half, but don't forget we were down to 9 at one point for, what, five minutes. And we were still too good.
4: and for all their fans talk of our sh*thous-ry, they're quiet about their 'keeper having his name taken for trying to scuff the penalty spot before IT's
nonchalant kick beat him. Among other things
*finally - what an incompetent clown of a referee.
Thought the ref was excellent myself, the disallowed goals were both correct calls 👍

Yep I don’t like the time wasting and sh@thousery but do unto others etc etc!

For all the talk of us sh*thousing and time wasting, we created 2 clearcut chances in that period, Mbeumo hit the bar and Janelt really should have scored. More than they did for most of the game....

Decent assessment from a Wolves perspective.

Very decent assessment. Overheard one Wolves fan outside the ground in how we beat them up on the pitch. I loved that assessment.

I also heard quite a lot of f***ing Brentford mind you :)

Great game and performance.

After a shaky start where we were making some silly errors we looked by far the better team. I was surprised by the lack of intensity from Wolves, very little pressure on the ball allowing us to start finding our passes and building a rhythm; stark contrast to previous games. In most duals we stood tall and they just couldn't cope with Tony, great for Bryan to get his goal but bloody hell he could of had 5-6 goals across the last 2 games!

It's funny (slightly off topic - my apologies), I have good mates who supports West Ham, Man Utd , Arsenal, Spurs etc.
For years, they've always had a real soft spot for the Bees and would sometimes attend home & away games during our time in League 1 & Championship.
However since this season begun, I have sensed there "liking for the Bees" have somewhat cooled down and are not so enthusiastic about us anymore.

Like this comment:
The most infuriating thing about their time wasting was that we had to sit through an additional 6 minutes of watching us try to have a shot on target...

On reflection, I suppose it depends on how you regard female genitalia.....
Sounds like the name of a girl band Louis Walsh might put together? In which case they're probably rather good. 🤷‍♂️

From The Molineux Mix.

Jeff Shi has ****ed it.

Bruno hasn't been backed.
Still the same **** poor back line.

Penalty and ensuing madness aside, Brentford didn't do anything all game.

We just don't have the players to cope with these sort of physical matches, and that's been the same story for the past 4 years.

Sort the ****ing recruitment out.

Did nothing - but won. What more could we do?
They're having a Neves breakdown. :hat:

It's all my fault!

Driving up today, my son and I were going through our general chit-chat about the game, including:

Last season, we though we seemed to start the trickier games with measured control, letting teams come at us and sort-of sounding them out, then on 20 minutes we'd let loose, hoping we'd see that again... on 20 minutes today, we looked at each other and...

Discussing players, we agreed that Nørgaard was PL quality from his earliest appearances – he controlled large parts of the game today, best player on the pitch.

Traoré was like a PL version of Ricky Shakes, that gave us a few giggles during the game.

I must say that I can't help but wonder what's going through Matthew Benham's mind this evening after a performance like that ?

Surely, if there was ever a vindication for all the years of investment, it was today
Things definitely on the up. Match of the Day very complimentary tonight!

Still absolutely buzzing about that performance. Thought we sussed them out pretty early on and apart from Traore and his wayward crossing they caused us little trouble all game. Toney, Mbeumo and Norgaard were all immense today. Toney looks an international player in waiting and his partnership with Mbeumo is getting better every day. We had the ball in the net 4 times first half and we should really have had a couple more in the second half. Baptiste's red card was so frustrating as he'd held onto the ball too long and got himself into trouble. It seemed like this would be a typical 'It's Brentford innit' moment and the moment the game turned. TF resisted the temptation to withdraw one of the two up top, instead taking of Sergi and bringing on Onyeka. Odd.. Wolves came flying at us and only a stunning tackle from Ajer stopped them from getting one back. He celebrated it like he'd won the European Cup. This seemed to galvanise the entire team and after that there was no way they were going to score. We played the game a little, took our time with free kicks and had a couple of 'questionable' injuries, however we were still being positive when we got the ball and Mbeumo smacked the crossbar not long before Janelt dragged his shot tamely wide when well placed to finish it off. Wolves couldn't really have complained if it had been 4-0.. Really good cameos from Roerslev (who finally got to grips with the dangerous Traore), and Zanka, who slotted in so well you hardly noticed he'd come on. Was going to say we held on through injury time for an historic win but actually we didn't really hold on, we were pretty comfortable. This is a team who deserve to be in the PL and deserve to stay there. Can't wait to see what we can do against Liverpool next week...

I honestly think if Traore could find his man and score a few goals he'd be one of the best players in the world. He got past Rico almost every single time like he wasn't even there but couldn't find his man. Must be so frustrating to watch as a Wolves fan.

There's such a belief about this squad at the moment. Even if we lose 3 out of the next 4 (very possible) I'd still back us to keep the spirit we have within the camp. There's something very special about this team and I think Thomas Frank and Brian Riemer deserve a ton of credit.
