I don't think any of our loan signing or short term deal players would make many peoples first choice 11 players this season.

as much as I was pissed at Simpson for missing that penalty, and my comment at the end when he cried (which I now regret saying) we need to sign him up pretty quick...

Yeah i wouldn't disagree with this he looks a decent player, I am surprised he's not been used more than he has lately. He'd have more goals than Gary and Charlie if he had started as much as they have.

I like Simpson too but he hasnt been the same since his injury and he is a bit injury prone. I think he would be an expensive gamble.

I don't know if a price was agreed with both clubs, I feel he is now like Saunders who couldn't get a full 90 minutes... all players get injured:wave:

Yes I really like the look of Neilson and Byrne although I would leave him on the bench just.

Maybe Simpson. He had gone well off the boil but thought he played really well when he came on last night.

Neilson is the only one, Simpson would be a good buy for a max of about £30k but no more, he started off like a house on fire but has gone well off the boil ever since he done his hammy in about SEPT.

Possibly Nielson. What I cannot understand is why when we have 2 strikers who would find it difficult to hit a cow's arse with a banjo have we not at least tried amongst this mass of mediocrity to sign an out and out striker on loan.

In terms of current form I think this is our best team, Macdonald and bean have been very poor recently.

If we are to progress on the field than there are a number of both loanees and existing players who are not good enough for the team and whilst I love teh style of play under NF if we are to go to the next level then I would imagine there will have to be a significant number of changes to the squad during the summer months.

Eh they have 21 goals between them and are very good players.

I'm not convinced with either MacDonald or Alexander this year.
Mac works hard, and i'm not sure if our style of play isn't suiting him, but he doesn't ever look a threat.
Alexander at least has his size to create problems.

In the last few games, we've had alot of possesion, but MacDonald or Alexander haven't had a chance..... Is it their fault, or should i be looking towards the supply?

Macdonald scored last week.

I do agree that we need a Jordan Rhodes, Billy Clark 25 goal plus type . Easier said than done. Maybe Mr benham will give us a nice summer present.

Cannot really judge loan players until they have been given a decent run in the team...however I think some of our regulars need some bench time......Weston...CM...Woodman(for a rest)......Alex....I have always liked Grabban....what does he have to do to get a game.......YOU REDS....

If we think that none of the loanees are worth a place in the team/starting line up then that is a sad indictment of the current and previous regime. I thought the whole point of bringing in players on loan was to improve what we have. Not saying that every loanee would play every game but we are clearly not too impressed with the majority of the signings. This has to improve going forward.

I agree with this, and wouldn't want Simpson in either of the NEW / NEW positions, he's not good enough for Hudders, he's not good enough for us.

Grabban offers something Aleaxnder doesn't have.....good first touch and pace.......I really cannot work out why he doesn't get a game ?

I think Grabban's a more natural replacement for Charlie. What we don't have us a ready madereplacement for Alexander. I suppose Simpson is the closest we have but I'm not convinced he's a genuine number nine. Undoubtedly, Scott's failure to add sufficient depth to the forward line in the close season has seen us rely heavily on Macdonald and Alexander and with those two now in desperate need of a break, we have too few options to replace them.

Interesting that while we all talk about a better playing style we're still stuck in the "big man, little man" argument up front. Perhaps the time has come to go for something different that's based around movement and pace instead.

If only Cort could have stayed fit.............it would be interesting to see how he would have played in current system.:(

That is surely the problem 21 goals between them. All of the top 6 teams last season scored over 70 goals in league 1. Where are we expecting to get the other 70 from?

Its not bad with 15 games to go. The point is its hardly " couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo ". If Mac gets a chance he normally takes it or makes the keeper work. Alexander has been very good for me this season.

Spot on & unfortunately it is also true of a number of the permanent signings. A number of posters have said on another thread that we need up to 10 (?) signings in the summer & we certainly need a few. How many players have we signed since June? Not really a very good legacy for the new manager imo.

Do you honestly think that are any out and out 25 a season striker avaiables on loan? Of course not... The good ones are all playing! We need to sign them and pay a bit of bunce to bring someone in. during the summer.

As much as I like Alexander his finishing accuracy is very frustrating at times.

11 goals from 72 shots doesn't seem all that

Really does sum up why Scott should have been shown the door a lot sooner and certainly before he squandered this seasons budget on Championship rejects.

Not bad is unfortunately not good enough. I happen to like Charlie Mac, he works hard and always tries. However with Cort gone, Forster no longer an option and with nobody else who can score with any consistancy we just dont have the firepower. The game is all about scoring goals and we haven't had anyone at Griffin Park who can do that and take the half chances for a long time. Good strikers are hard to find but its better to spend money on them than waste it on umpteen loanees whose wages we have to pay for spending most of matchdays sitting on the bench.
Its not NF's fault but he has been left with a squad who are top heavy in midfield and running on empty up front.

Your right, but he still brought in 3 loanees and none of them are forwards.
