The fact that anyone still thinks fondly of Barbet just shows how far we have risen compared to them. If they were anything like a serious rival he would be a hate figure.

They are a serious rival .

Yes, we still want and need to get 6 points off them. What they might do in the other 44 games is their problem but everyone in the division is our rival and them more so because of who they are and our history.

Exactly . Rival is a rival. Doesnt matter what divisions we are in or how long we dont play each other

Don’t understand the love in on here, he plays for enemy number one. Won’t be getting a warm welcome from me.

Maybe it is me, but I can't explain the criticism Barbet has got on this thread. Let's not forget he provided cover at left back in the last two seasons when Henry was injured; he provided that cross field cross to Fjo Fulham away when Neil scored in the last minute; always clapped the fans at the end of each game no matter what; and could have gone to Reading 18 months ago but decided to stay at Brentford. Yes I am not pleased he plays for QPR and hope he has a shocker of a game but the guy was great in the dressing room, within the community and a fans favourite whilst he was he.

Finally 'that penalty' has just reached the NASA space station in Orbit.

Apparently had a mare and scored an og tonight in their PSF in Austria. Fine work agent Barbet. (Broadsword calling Danny Boy).

I agree , getting players to do goal celebrations is "cringy"... Bristol City did them best and it should have stopped with them a few years back, i wonder what our players will be forced to do for goal celebrations :grey:

As for Barbet as long as he doesn't do any badge kissing when playing against us - i'll survive

Of course he’ll do some badge kissing - it will pull the wool over their thick supporters eyes like it did ours.

My thoughts as well, in fact I very much doubt there will be a lot of badge kissing by any of the team this season. :D

I think with their current squad we'll find out just how good a manager Warbs really is particularly as he has chosen the new signings.

It’s hardly the most exuberant goal celebration. Given how rarely it’ll get used this season they ought to ramp it up a bit.

Gets booked and concedes a penalty from which Huddersfield score.

Update from Shepherd's Bush.

An absolute must. Shambles of a performance from Barbet. The pen was rank stupidity. That’s now 3 goals in 3 games he’s been at fault for.

But that’s the obvious. Where was the great ball player? Lots of long diagonals a la Lynch. Where was he for their free header for the third? How many times was he beaten to the ball by their forward?

On current showing he’s neither quick, nor strong, nor good in the air, nor good at positioning, nor great at tackling. He’s competent on the ball but no more.

We will continue to concede 2+ a game with him and Hall. For all his faults, Leistner gets himself in the way and defends. We desperately need to be able to defend. On the ball we looked fine today and it wasn’t Barbet orchestrating things.

Well it looks like Dean Smith and Thomas Frank’s opinion on him was spot on.

He’s not a Championship class defender particularly in a back four where lacks the cover of a third centre half.

Even so, just like Bidwell he has regressed there

It just looks like he had given up, couldn't be arsed to chase back and cover and didn't give a damn.

I’m not sure about that. I just don’t think he realised the player who scored was there. A second or so before he checks his other shoulder and sees that he has the other attacker (number 10) which was presumably his man covered. It just didn’t seem to occur to him there may be another and you can only assume this was the other centre half’s man. It’s shocking defending but wasn’t all down to Barbet IMO.

No defender should be unaware of attacking players around him, regardless of whether it's 'his man' or not. We had similar at Charlton...
