Swindon are in trouble

Just saw this on the BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22454081

If it is true then Swindon are paying at least £77,000 a week to their staff. Even half of that budget would be a healthy wage budget at this level. How on earth do a team that have only just been promoted have an outlay of that much??? :banghead: They could just be the next club to enter administration.

Swindon are in trouble

Bit like the position we were in after Coppells' season.

I would bet on them going down next season

Swindon are in trouble

Their Chairman has just tweeted that he's off on 2 weeks holiday now, so obviously not too concerned.

£77k is an average League One ANNUAL salary.

So Brentford FC's approx average weekly playing budget is £73k. Is that too much? Or are we all grateful that MB has funded it for the past 3-4 years? Because we wouldn't be where we are without his generosity. £77k a week is a top budget. They just failed. They'll have to cut their cloth accordingly....

There are reports that they are cutting their playing budget to 2Million. That wont get them far. TBH I don't give a flying fig about that team.

Swindon are in trouble

Could we sign Simon Ferry please?! He has just been released by them

Swindon are in trouble

Not for the entire staff it's not.

It is if you have 3 or 4 or on a £150K plus, you can soon get a high average than what most are on.

Swindon are in trouble

Cant believe he's been shipped out

Swindon are in trouble

I also see Notts County have cut their's by 30%..

Swindon are in trouble

Nah, can't sea it happening...

Feel no remorse or sorrow for this mob.Their fans are deluded and turned up at Griffin Park with huge ego's and were proper bitter losers. They behaved like proper west country inbreds attacking the Griffin, throwing beer over Simon Moore and Kevin O'Connor. They even "attempted" to take the Oak Smashing a window and then after being turfed out the brave worzels throw a glass through a residents window injuring a kid in the process.

I looked on their forum The Town End after the game and they were really laying in to Donaldson. The thicko's thought all game his name was Clayton Mcdonald who is a friend of Che Evans hence the song they were singing "She said no Clayton, she said no".
It won't get any better for them as by all accounts Wes Foderingham (the second best keeper in league 1 behind Simon Moore) is off to Bournemouth.

Horrible club with no class.

Swindon are in trouble

As we walked past the Oak on the way to the ground I pointed out to my 11 year old where they'd used Perspex to board up the windows. She said "is that why you called them inbreds and retards when you were on the phone?"

Is it really? I thought we had one of the smallest budgets in the league.

And TBH I am shocked at the responses to this thread. A club is likely to go out of business, with all the heritage that they have as well, and all you lot can do take the michael out of Simon Ferry's name. Shocking, I hope you feel a small bit ashamed. I mean it is going to be a stern test for anyone to keep them afloat during these choppy waters.

Swindon are in trouble

Swindon are serial financial fiddlers. It may be that their new board will bring a realism that will mean they can survive and build or they will continue until they replace Portsmouth in the parallel financial universe they seem to be in. Fans of clubs like them and Sheffield United really are in dreamland.

Swindon are in trouble

Swindon's Chairman is already trying to take over at Luton. He already owns Banbury as well as Swindon.

'going drown,going drown,going drown'???????

Sorry couldn't give a toss about the club - they have history of financial mis-management and they simply do not learn. As for the supporters have no time for them especially attacking innocent Brentford fans over the years. I saw first hand what happened to some Brentford fans after the game when Hoddle was manager and they went down to 9 men. So as far as i am concern they can 'Ferry' themselves out of the league and good riddance to them.

During the Bees v Swinedon match the commentator said that we had one of the smallest budgets in the League.

This certainly contradicts Robinson and Andy Scott (at Orient match) saying otherwise.

Others better placed will correct me I'm sure. But I think our budget for youth, development squad, travelling etc is not included in the playing budget so makes it look less than it is. I think most clubs include all those aspects and just have 1 budget.

It's not the smallest in the league but not the largest either. Probably around 8th? Although the budget was bolstered with Chelsea money to sign BWP.

I was just continuing the seafaring theme ;). I find it really frustrating and equally sad that clubs gamble their future for short term gain. The swine's, 'muff and Portsmouth are obvious examples. It never seems to pay off in the long run, clubs get their hands burnt and then continue to do it. What we need is severe punishments for clubs like that. I am so glad this club is being run correctly at the moment. Thank you MB, MW, MD, UR and everyone at the club.

Hurry up or we'll miss the boat

Ha jumped the gun when reading it on my phone :)

Agreed and Swindon are a classic case of 'splashing' out and now are a 'sinking' boat with their fans 'drowning' their sorrows ....

Swindon are in trouble

Agree. And this could be the tip of the iceberg to their woes.

Swindon are in trouble

There are so many witty individuals on the gpg but we still can't come up with a good chant for Wembley :fishing:

I'm sure we'll hear "we're the ré dand why army", though. Whatever happened to "Bees, Bees, Bees"?

They also said we had the narrowest pitch! "like playing on a railway line". Well, no longer - plus, it doesn't bloody feel like it when you're playing on it.
