Great own goals

there is almost certainly no link to this but Mark Fleming v Rotherham at GP many years ago. Deano go three at the other end, final score 4-2

Great own goals

Mark Hill @ Walsall ,early 80's ?

On the big match as I recall with Hugh Johns commentating ,Hill also scored at the right end.

Great own goals

Billy Barr for us immediately after Carlisle had gone ahead at GP.

From the kick off it was played to him on the right of mid field and he just lobbed it into the far top corner of his own goal.

Quality!!!

Great own goals

Jamie bates at notts county :(

Great own goals

Ben Arentoft Blackburn Rovers scored for us in the 80s(?) from about 30
yards with a misplaced overhit backpass! IIRC we won 4-0.

Wasn't that the guy who tried to hook it back over his head as he ran back towards goal (but 30 yards away) toe-ended it and produced a great lob?

Certainly not the '80s. We barely played Blackburn then other than for those special cup ties. It's before my time but didn't we beat them 4-0 in the early 70's just after the O'Mara promotion season?

Great own goals

Vince Bartram's 'act of god' one Christmas at the old Dean Court. A legendary match where the Muff supporters rained down their cushions at the bench

Thanks for clarifying that. The old memory plays tricks sometimes these days! Poor ole thing!

Was just about to put this. Always regard this as the funniest og from an opponent. It was a night game and - as you say, they had just scored at Brook Rd end....he slotted it home with the most amazing slice from the right back position, over the keeper into the goal. Total freak "clearance". I think it ended 1-1 too

One of the guys I was with that night left the ER terrace before H/T to have a wee and buy some food. Queue was so long he missed the first two minutes of the second half.......

Great own goals

Although they were a few seasons ago, the prolific own goals of Alan Nelmes would, surely, have seen him walk away with any award?!
Especially that beauty for Chelsea in his very own testimonial match!

Great own goals

I vividly remember a Shane Westley og against Cardiff in the FA Cup c1993 and a Jamie Murray bullet header against Reading one Christmas in the mid 80's.

Great own goals

Classic og from Terry Evans at Bolton in 1991 I think

Great own goals

How you guys remember og's from matches ages ago I have no idea!

Although, two spring to mind that I remember, but cannot name the players.

1. An og by a Reading full back on the volley at GP... 80's?
2. An og by a Chesterfield centre back from about 40 yards, a back pass, around the 80's too.

Any names??

Yes I mentioned the Chesterfield one, John Ridley who bent a passback around his keeper from long distance and I think the reading one was Steve Richardson but I vaguely remember it as a diving header in a 2-1 win!

Great own goals

Kompany's own goal yesterday was quite spectacular

Great own goals

I watched the BBC interview with Kompany after the game and comes across as a really decent, grounded person and a very good ambassador.

The diplomatic core awaits

Great own goals

Anyone remember that own goal at Wrexham in Scott's first game? Remember thinking 'Did he just do that?!'

Great own goals

Loved the Gary Elkins header.

Remember it like it was yesterday. Can't wait to play Fulham again.
