Sheffield United

We gave them the stand where my season ticket seat is a couple of weeks back.

Arrogant sheep fertilising Yorkshire retards have very kindly broken my seat.

There's only 3,000 empty ones in that stand for me to choose from.

Sheffield United

Forgot Simon Moore was there.
Well done to Jack, he's played well and popped up with some goals for Sheff. Not happy about going back there next season though

Sheffield United

One day we could have Kevin o Connor coming off the coach as players return to Lionel road after winning the championship with a win against QPR that coincidently sends them down aswell. I wonder what song he would choose to serenade the fans with

Sheffield United

.......fantastic stuff.....#keepinitreal.

Sheffield United

Incidentally I think they are the first team that is mathematically guaranteed to be in the Championship next season.

Sheffield United

pleased for em......proper football city and club.......always a good day out by train there too ;)

Agree with every point apart from your first. Great away day but really dislike their fans. Like Bristol City, they seem to have a disproportionate amount of knobheads following them and you know you're more likely to get aggro there than most other places. Always act up at our place as well.

I'd have like to have seen them spend a few more frustrating years in League One.

yeh, they got a few but I always find Wednesday more un-welcoming.......horses for courses I suppose !

Sheffield United

Looking forward to doing this next year, always want to do one of the Sheffield away days but don't want to pay £38 for Wednesday!

Sheffield United

I'm going to miss my annual drive home from Sheffield listening to thick Yorkshiremen moaning about their inability to beat Oldham.

Proper ground with atmosphere and a big club that deserve to be in this league but scummy fans.

Should be a cracking derby between the two teams if Sheff Wed don't go up.
Attendance at Hillsboro in 1979-80 was over 49000 and that was in the third division. I haven't a clue what the ground holds now.

Pretty sure it was 50k plus in the 3rd and a record which still stands and probably won't ever be beaten.

Can't remember which team won but there was a 5-1 "Saint Valentines Day massacre" that season

Sheffield United

Uwes first game was at Brammal Lane on opening day 5 years ago i think, we lost 2-0 or 2-1 but at the time everyone thought it was an encouraging display against a team on paper miles ahead of us.

Sheffield United

The atmosphere for that crazy 2-2 game under Rosler was superb.

The most exciting game of football I've witnessed and I doubt that record will ever fall. Even my Sheffield residing sister - who has no interest in football whatsoever and only accompanied me out of pity having made the trip solo - was gushing with enthusiasm at the end, after the pandemonium of BWP's equaliser.

Trying to remember the sequence of events. Was it:

penalty to Bees, goal 1-0
penalty to Sheff Utd & red card Craig, missed
Penalty to Sheff Utd, goal 1-1
Goal for Sheff Utd 2-1
Red card for Sheff Utd
Penalty for Bees, Saunders missed
Red card Donaldson
Goal for Bees 2-2

Deffo pen for us at 1-0 and cruising when Clayton got chopped down which led to an unjust yellow card which led to a red.

Tw£tface felt sorry for them and decided to give them every decision as we were ripping them to pieces IMO.

The atmosphere for that crazy 2-2 game under Rosler was superb.

It was a surreal night, Jessica Ennis Hill paraded around the pitch before, that prancing midget Stroud allowing Kitson to push, punch and grapple with our players and abuse said midget without any recrimination but yet he sent off TC who had been assaulted by the strawberry blonde t*sspot. I think it was 3 pens, 3 sendings off (2 of ours and Maguire if I recall) and then that equaliser by BWP deep into injury time in front of about 2,000 Bees going radio rental. Yes, a pretty good atmosphere that night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

escorted out and right underneath their fans after the Saunders pen,
heard the goal and ran to the gate at 2-2
back on the freebie coach

Remember being annoyed when I heard on the concourse downstairs that Jake Reeves was in instead of Douglas but he had the game of his life.

Not being heightist here but....the image in my mind of that shortar£e not being able to wait to send off Clayton and their Honey Monster thing was comical, this silly little thing handing out cards and making bizarre decisions to blokes towering over him was just a sign of a short man with an attitude.

Uwe's first game was on the opening day 2011-12 at home to Yeovil (2-0). We then went to SU and lost 0-2.

Pretty sure it was four pens. We both scored one and missed one. I remember after the game looking up at the netting above and seeing it covered in spit from the Utd fans above us. Fun night.

The Boxing Day Massacre was a match played on 26 December 1979. It was famous for being the biggest win in recent times, when Wednesday won 4–0, with goals from Ian Mellor, Terry Curran, Mark Smith and Jeff King. The United side at the time were top of the league, while Wednesday were 4th in the table. The match was watched by a record third division crowd of 49,309 spectators.

You may well be right mate, right up there with the most memorable games I've ever been to and even though we got a late equaliser disappointed we didn't win!

yep they sing about it: "hark now hear, the Wednesday sing, United run away - and we will fight, forever more, because of Boxing Day" (lived in Sheffield for university)

They were probably singing it long before that day.

Manchester United fans use it with "Scousers" in the wording too.

I'm sure we sang it about Watford.

oh, i'm not as old as some of you fogeys, my apologies. Wednesday still sing it due to the aforementioned Boxing Day Massacre. thanks for playing :hat:

I love the intensity of their rivalry, had a good mate who was a blade in the late 80s and went to a few of their away games down here with them and also to brammal lane.

"No pig fans in town, no Hillsbrough to sadden my eyes
Jack Charlton is dead and the pig fans have fled and the year is eighteen eighty nine!"

We won at both HiIlsborough and Bramall Lane that year - cant imagine there are too many seasons we have done that.

The United home game was the Alf Grey/Doug Alder/Micky Speight, Monday night saga. One of my favourite home games depsite the score.

aye - West Street (leading from uni to town) used to be a warzone on derby days

First away game, we'd beaten Yeovil at home first match. But you're right, you could see what Rosler was trying to get the team to do and that it would take a bit of time for the team to adjust to it. https://botzarelli.wordpress.com/2011/08/13/normal-service-resumed-sheffield-utd-v-brentford/
