i'll add sheff utd to the good list....great ground and away end and loads of pubs nearby and train only 15mins away.....tremendous city for football ;)

Can’t agree re Luton, sh*tehole and nowhere worth drinking either. Agree re Bramall Lane and I also think St Andrew’s, Hillsborough and Leeds are decent grounds albeit a bit tired on top of those I mentioned previously.
I never watched Bees at Highbury but think it was a fantastic, atmospheric stadium unlike the library they’re in now.

I quite enjoyed the home of the inferior Bees, The Hive. Ideal ground for person to person banter between home and away supporters.

That new Darlington stadium was awful, just because it was so empty, though obvs had a great day out there.

Agree that Highbury was a beautiful stadium in lovely surroundings. I liked the old WHL as well although those surroundings are less lovely.

For a new build I quite like Rotherham’s stadium. Nice steep stands and great acoustics. Decent pubs nearby and you’ve got Sheffield a short hop away as well.

Yes, I went to Layer Road once. The only thing that stopped you falling backwards onto the main road was the sheets of corrugated iron (used for roofing on your garden shed), hung vertically to make a wall. I think they’ve got a new ground now. I hope we never go there.

Used to enjoy just turning around and taking a piss on the back of the stand with a bag of cans on the sit beside me

We've already played at the new ground on several occasions...it's not good.

My perception of St Andrews possibly tainted by the natives. I know Villa fans like a moan and are prime exponents of the "teams like Brentford" but I much prefer them to their blue nose neighbours

I preferred it when it had that big sweeping terrace, from the end all the way down the side.
Great memories of going there and always winning, and upsetting the locals.

I had a really nice chat with a couple of Villa fans in The Globe before one of our early Championship games. They were really looking forward to GP and standing at an old school ground with no TV or revolving Ads to distract them!

Yes you’re right, we would often stand on the sideline down towards the corner flag on an open bit of terracing. Just by the Layer Road entrance.

When I went the 4 step wooden terrace had a cover and was the home end. It over 50 years ago though. Jesus I'm getting old! We stood on an open concrete stepped terrace which was the other end I think not the side. Only went once.

I was in the end behind the goal and it was freezing.
When i left the station i ran for a bus and hit a metal bar just above my knee.
Felt that all night.
Not a great night was it ?

It was an intimidating place on occasions, remember that year when we went there twice within weeks and the midweek game was very lively

First Leg of the Leyland Daf (or whatever it was called then) at St Andrews was fairly interesting too!! As was the return at GP!!! ?
