the voting, I believe, takes place around early/mid January so it is only a record of the first half of the season - when Sam stood out before his lapses.

Michael Turner is a quieter player but certainly more consistent, in my opinion.

Surprised no DJ, but that's probably because he isn't in this league, and as everyone else said Turner is much better than Sodje

Well done Sam!

I agree TUrner should have been in there too, the 'problem' is that he goes about his job so quietly and efficiently that his brilliance goes almost unnoticed. Sam on the other hand......................

Cant believe Turner is not in there. Probably a reflection of Sam's more noticeable playing style, e.g. step-overs, mazy runs and the odd mistake whereas Turner is just Mr. Consistent.

Our gain, not drawing attention to himself from clubs above us. :sorted:

Turner is very, very good but have always thought thought that Sodje has more potential to play at the top level. His pace is the big difference between the two.

Tabb must have been close to the team as well.

These awards are often for big name players rather than those who have actually played well....ditto managers awards etc.

Hence SocceramTrundle...activeagentSam...Eastwood probably didn't get in because of family connections!

Very surprised that Michael Turner didn't get the vote, not seen better in League One all season !

Congrats to Sam as well as Steve Sidwell and Super Sonko in the Championship team :sorted:

Why no Tabby. Always gets a mention in newspaper match reports and very highly thought of by opposition supporters (except possibly Hudders)

He must've been close but I have to say that the midfield selected is pretty good. I think, again, Tabb's come into his own since he was switched to the centre which was after Christmas. If they held the vote now, I think Turner and Tabby would make it but not Sam. I also think Framps has been pretty close to being the best left-back in the division.

I agree with much of what has been said above.

The voting timeframe, January, and the high profile of certain players gets them in ahead of others who perhaps deserve it more.

The top scorers in Febraury are nearly always in the team :shrug:

A few funny selections, Halford in defence :scratch: McIndoe :scratch: and Roberts at Tranmere who played in midfield when I saw him.

Great acdcolade for Sam and might put a few hundred thousand on his tranfer value but it is testament to the others that he probably won't make the top 3 in our player of the year.

And why do they do it in January? If the PFA Dinner is in late April, why not do it in early April?

I thought that its a big honour that has not been mentioned unless he is going to give a seperate update for it. Congratulations Sam a couple of goals wouldn't go a miss he hasn't scored for a while

I think voting forms are sent out around January time. Some players would return them immediatley, others would take some time. I would imagine they have 4-5 weeks to get them back.

If you looked at it historically I reckon those who are top scorers in Febraury nearly always make team of the year.

As to why they do it early I don't know but the PFA must have thousands of members and their awards is only part of their work so I suepct the vote counting and then making it into a team would take a while.

The main award nominations were announced 2-3 weeks ago so it was all known then.

could of been worse that Yates at Col U could of been in it too

well done Sodje shame Turner didn't get in it too should off the man has been robbed
