I have an old newspaper cutting, Daily Express, which shows a photograph, taken from the Ealing Road end of a union meeting held at GP on 16/3/70. The meeting involved airport workers who I suppose wanted more pay and better conditions etc. It appears that 15,000 workers attended the meeting, which according to the article was the highest attendance at GP since we last played QPR in 1965. The meeting went on for 4 hrs. and at one time the Fire Brigade had to be called to put out a small fire in the stand. The workers voted for a 24 hour strike, and Bees beat QPR 5-2 in the 1965 meeting, did anybody attend both these events or remember them at all.
