Who remembers the sequence of our last 12 games all those years ago?

4 defeats 2 draws 6 wins, in that order:

English Division 3 (old) Preston 3-2 Brentford 07-03-1992
English Division 3 (old) Birmingham 1-0 Brentford 10-03-1992
English Division 3 (old) Brentford 3-4 Bradford 14-03-1992
English Division 3 (old) Wigan 2-1 Brentford 20-03-1992
English Division 3 (old) Brentford 2-2 Bournemouth 29-03-1992
English Division 3 (old) Reading 0-0 Brentford 01-04-1992
English Division 3 (old) Brentford 2-0 Shrewsbury 04-04-1992
English Division 3 (old) Hull City 0-3 Brentford 11-04-1992
English Division 3 (old) Brentford 4-1 Darlington 17-04-1992
English Division 3 (old) Bolton 1-2 Brentford 20-04-1992
English Division 3 (old) Brentford 4-0 Fulham 26-04-1992
English Division 3 (old) Peterborough 0-1 Brentford 02-05-1992

I reckon we're already 3 points ahead of that. Let's keep it going boys! :sorted:

I certainly remember those last two! whoah- yeah!

1991/2

Didn't we send Darlington down with that win as I recall?

We certainly had a wobble before that storming finish

1991/2

We had a much, much better team then

Holdsworth and Blissett supplied by Smillie and Gayle or Rankin or Owusu

I think we'll make the play offs, but unfortunately I think we've blown the top 2

I keep thinking that myself and then remember how ****ing awful we were for the 6 games prior to the last 6 games and it's all relative isn't it? Stoke and Brum were far better than any of the current contenders too, surely?

We're in the top 2 with a game in hand, ok Gillingham was horrible but we get a win on Saturday and we'll all be on here again full of PMA :sorted:

Do you really, really believe that?

I think it is the front two that frighten me - they have a crucial chance do they score?

Yes we did and if my memory serves me correct it was on Good Friday and an 11.30 KO.Probably explains why they bought about 30 fans.

So we got promoted above Reading, Hull, Wigan, Bolton, Fulham, Birmingham and Preston. Glad to see that we kicked on following our promotion. I wonder what happened to those other clubs?

I know what you are saying, but i would be more worried if we werent scoring any....2 v Gills, 1 v Swans, 3 vs Barnsley. I think though am not entirely sure its longer since we kept a clean sheet than didnt score.....lets get back to good defensive performances

1991/2

I was thinking about this the other day - and I've been trying to convince myself that the we'll do it the same way again...

But I don't believe myself yet.

I remember that too from the old club videos presented by old Greville Waterman. Some of the away commentary provided by clubs was entertaining to say the least - boltons being the best!!

1991/2

Holder got terrific stick after the Reading game and I would never have believed then that we would win the division. After the last two games perhaps Martin should start rehearsing a "where are my doubters?" type speech for after the Bournemouth game.

How can you say that when we are second with a game in hand? With support like that, do we deserve to go up?

PMA!

I think that he's rather set out his stall with his user name :D

(Anyway, there's nothing wrong with a good dose of pessimism. I've often used it myself to soften the blow of eventual failure - Play Off Final defeats are much easier to bear when you've brought no expectations to them. The trouble is, this year I've been afflicted with that much more dangerous malady - optimism. :( )

He's got a point. Bees scored 81 goals I believe in 91-92 so they've got a lot to do in the last few games this season.

21 goals in 9 games isn't too much :suspect: (we only had 2 more at this stage in 92)

All we need is a goal a game and 9 clean sheets! We scored 8 in the last 4 games so provided we keep it tight we have enough goals in us to do it.

I can say it because I don't think we are clinical enough up front.

Your support like that comment is nonsense / pathetic - I'm going to be behind the team, but I don't think we've quite got enough to go up and I don't think we'll catch Southend.

Seem to recall that the turning point was the arival of Detzi Kruzynski ( god knows how its spelt) he fitted into midfield sat in front of the defence and afforded protection the Reading game he started looking the part and from there on it was onwards and upwards.

For those that criticise the cynics amongst us I guess you first have to watch the team for 50 years and see us get so near yet not quite close enough!! have seen us lose all over the place and the bigger the reward generally the worse the performance, I hope and pray for automatic promotion as another play off will be the death of me!!!!!
