2012 Paralympics

Looking forward to this as much as the able bodied Olympics.

Wheelchair rugby looks brutal, Ex Formula 1 driver Alex Zinardi going in the hand cycling at 45 yrs of age.

2012 Paralympics

I don't think it is fair that Oscar Pretosauraus (sp) can take part in both main one and this one. Doesn't make sense to me.

I think it's fantastic that he can..;)

Where does it stop though in the quest for medals? Next those dastardly South Africans will enter a man in a ladies race :nono:

2012 Paralympics

Come on she may look like a man but they still haven't found a penis

2012 Paralympics

That is in jest BTW. I actually think it is horrific what she went through if she is a woman. Which indications after 8 months of checking say she is!

2012 Paralympics

Agree ablosutely disgusting the way she has been treated

Ironically an anagram of her name was 'Yes a secret man'

2012 Paralympics

Thursday night at 9pm on BBC2 is a drama about the man who inspired the Paralympics, by using sport as a therapy.

2012 Paralympics

anyone watched that program of the ex-Oxford player was trying to get in to the Paralypics football squad? he was put in to a coma some years back :(

2012 Paralympics

Got tickets to Goalball and 7 a-side football. Wanted wheelchair rugby but couldn't get.

2012 Paralympics

Is it not a bit sh*t that things like the Olympics rings have already been taken down from Tower Bridge?

Looking forward to the return of all the Games Makers to help these inspirational athletes have the Best Ever Paralympics Games ever. Well done all. :sorted:

I think the wheelchair rugby is going to be one of the hottest tickets in town.

 The fact it's usually known as Murderball appears to be attracting attention.

2012 Paralympics

I see the football teams warm up match against Swansea went badly.

2012 Paralympics

Have to say I have not taken much notice of the Paralympics in the past (only thing I really knew was that Team GB did very well in Beijing) but the whole "Home Games" thing got me during the Olympics. Lucky for me I have free tickets via work for the Olympic stadium for the evening sesh on 6th Sept, seems like I will see about a dozen finals! :sorted:

2012 Paralympics

Popping up to the Park on Thursday, looking forward to it.

2012 Paralympics

Just seen the rather superb Channel 4 ad for the paralympics. Stunning visuals with a classic PE theme song. Media experts have said the ad has made the BBC's promo look dull, middle aged and middle class. But we kind of knew the BBC were like that anyway. Heres the link for those who havent seen it.

2012 Paralympics

Definitely going to be watching the Paralympics, was lucky enough to get tickets for the Olympics to see; Brazil v Egypt at Cardiff, Archery, Women's Road Race (Box Hill), Olympic Park and 'twas like winning the lottery in the first ballot when I got 2 tickets for that Super Saturday in the Olympic Stadium when we had that magical Golden Hour of Athletics! It was a fabulous experience. (My eldest Stephen who's 8 came with me to all events & 4 out of my 5 kids saw at least one event). :)

Kids are back to school next week & now living in Wales it would have been a bit difficult & costly to then return for the Paralympics but I'll be glued to it on telly & cheering on Team GB again, especially Andy Lapthorne who I saw introduced to the crowd last Tues at GP...just started following him on Twitter. :sorted:

If you have the chance to go, especially to the Olympic Stadium, I urge you to, it's fab!

2012 Paralympics

I've been to the old Hackney dog track....and that's the nearest I look like getting to it

Are tickets only available on the official site? All i hear is its all sold out!

This link should work as well, it appears if you select All Venues it shows no tickets but if you choose the Olympic Park it shows some.

2012 Paralympics

Looks like there are plenty of tickets for the Boccia at the ExCel if you fancy it.

2012 Paralympics

Good work fellah... thanks

Did you get any tickets? We are there on Monday evening
Watching those Athletes yesterday puts them way ahead of the able bodied competitors

2012 Paralympics

Popped up to the Olympic Village yesterday afternoon. Brilliant atmosphere.

Checked out the travel info on the official website which gave me some stupid route that was estimated to take nearly 2hrs. Trained into Waterloo and Jubilee to Stratford, only took an hour.:sorted:

6 times I thought I had tickets.....to only find out that I hadn't

Is there any secret to getting these. Wouldn't mind anything for Sunday (well almost)

There was another lot released around 6pm but I think they went in a few mins.

So it's just luck really, I have to give credit to my colleague for getting mine. He clearly doesn't do any work!

2012 Paralympics

So disappointed with the C4 coverage. With the amazing promo, I thought the coverage would be fresh and innovative from the usual BBC middle class fare. Theres too much talk and not enough action.

I want to see these guys compete, not hear about them.

2012 Paralympics

Went to athletics last night. Great atmosphere. Huge cheers all round for wheelchair 5000m guy almost a laap behind. Very moving. Brill gold medal ceremony for GB 100m win. Will be great memories.

2012 Paralympics

Went to goalball today absolute rubbish and boring... Seemed like a rather pointless game..

Also watched wheelchair tennis which was average at best

Went to the wheelchair basketball and really enjoyed it so much so that I reckon I would watch it again without the rings

Just take your rings off then ?

Still no bloody tickets around :mad2:

2012 Paralympics

Went to the dressage, not exactly my sport but it was inspiring and a good day out, more so perhaps than the able bodied events would be in a way. Slightly disconcerting that some of the competitors disabilities were due to coming off horses but you had to admire how they dealt with it all

What a great venue Greenwich is with the stadium framed by panoramic views of London. As usual the organisation and stewarding was excellent.

The poignant thought for me is will these Paralympics be a one off in terms of crowd support, passion and attendances. Past Paralympics have been relatively poorly supported and I wonder if future ones will return to that level. Will those athletes ever compete in stadiums full of 80k people again, I hope so but suspect not, sadly.

imho it is the same as drinking in the Oak but sometimes popping into the Griffin for one or two. :o
