3rd test predictions

Well I reckon we´ll win again
India´s batting is getting better but the bowling is still naff.
England´s second string is better.

3rd test predictions

I reckon a draw, weather's been very good recently, Headingly is no longer the seamer's paradise it used to be, the Indians are improving fast, good recent performances under their belts.

yeah can see how you got confused,i mean the dates for the test and football season have only been out a year:p

3rd test predictions

India play to their full ability due to England's decimated bowling attack (except Hoggard who I reckon will have a good match)

3rd test predictions

Pretty poor day for England, credit to India for fighting it out on a very good pitch for bowling. If India get anywhere near 400 England are in big trouble, lots of uneven bounce, and the pitch is taking spin which will please the turbanator.

Did anyone watch the last hour of Day 2, Tendulkar and Ganguly cut loose big time 90 off 10 overs - England looking down the barrel down now !

3rd test predictions

magnificent cricket for the last hour, the only bit i've watched so far :D

is this a 3 test-series? let's hope the batsmen keep their heads, we shouldn;t get bowled out twice by them, but....

Excellent batting but Indian bowlers aren´t capable of Bowling England out once let alone twice.

uh-oh, we're in trouble now!!

they have got 2 top-class spinners, and 3 days to do it, and our line-up is a little inexperienced....

Whò???????????
Kumble dosen´t turn the ball.
Look at his record over here.
Quack Quack oops!!!!!!!!!

I think the Turbanator will get it to spin a bit.

Would have thought it would be an India victory now.

3rd test predictions

If England manage to save the game from here it will be a massive achievement, but won't alter the fact they have been completely outclassed for 3 and 3/4 days.

Most experienced batsmen are in now, if anyone can do it they can, but I can't see it.

Expect defeat at around lunchtime tomorrow and all down the Oval for a decider.

P.S. after my posting on the last match about the failure of India's batting they have scored tremendously, I think I'm going to keep quiet in future.

3rd test predictions

Hussain and Stewart are leading a valiant rearguard action but I feel it may be too little too late, if the Indians break this partnership I don't expect the rest to put up much resistance.

Some key questions need to be asked - like Robert Key - shambles of a debut, technique looks very iffy and he has butterfingers. Giles has played his last test match, Flintoff has been crap all summer, Butcher hasn't been consistent enough, and John Crawley needs a big score to secure his ashes place.

3rd test predictions

I think you're being a bit harsh Jam Jar, rarely has their been an innings where the England batsmen haven't done their job. Don' forget England are without probably their two best batsmen, take Ganguly and Tendulkar out of India, Lara and Hooper out of WI, Inzamam and Anwar out of Pakistan. All the line-ups look vastly weaker.
Criticsm of Giles is also a bit bizarre IMHO, who do you reckon is better? You can't compare him to a bowler from the sub-continent. They are brought up to spin the ball on turning pitches, our game isn't like that, which is why their fast bowlers aren't as good as ours.
Not sure about Key to be honest but will certainly need more than 2 matches and Flintoff is clearly unfit and shouldn't be playing, same with Caddick and possibly Tudor. We shouldn't play unfit players or we end up like this.

3rd test predictions

Perhaps I was a tad harsh on England, they have had the bad luck with injuries during the second half of the summer. The thing with Giles is he doesn't really do anything with the ball, people say english conditions don't help but I disagree - most overseas spinners like Saqlain,Kumble,Warne have taken stacks of wickets in county cricket and when touring for their respective countries. England would be better of trying Richard Dawson. Giles had a good winter in the subcontinent some time ago but I'm afraid he has got into a position of being a containing bowler rather than an attacking one - perhaps the fault of Hussain ?? But given India's poor away record I'd still expect England to win this series.

3rd test predictions

shambles of a batting performance

criticism of flintoff and butcher is harsh i think, but agree about crawley, giles and key!!!! giles ain't test-class and never will be, so get a young 'un and show him the ropes...

3rd test predictions

Fairly poor performance, I thought we were just too easy to get out. There was the odd bad decision, I agree about Giles and Robert Key is never going to be a top batsmen. Should have opened with Stewart. The last test will be a draw.

3rd test predictions

Have to say some of the critiscm here is very unjust. The fact is yes we played badly no excuses for that. However how anyone can criticse Butcher who put in another solid performance is beyond me, Crawley didn't do too well but on the whole he has had a very good summer - everyone is allowed a bad game. Also he was always placed in a desprate situation which couldn't have been easy for him (although this may be a sign that he doesn't have the tempermant to play when the chips are down).

Yes Giles has had a bad time since his first tour for England but oh sod it i'm not gonna defend him cause hes a QPR fan he he.

Flintoff was injuryed and was evidently not match fit and thus should not have played, it merley shows how vital he is to the England team that they felt the need to risk him.

As for Robert Key for ****s sake the man is a young player new to the international arena okay he hasn't set the world alite but he has been fairly solid with two scores of 30 or above in 3 test innings. Yet in England we always have to have the menatilty of if he doesn't succed at first lets just toss him out and watch him decline due to confidence being destroyed through all the negative press and being dropped. Okay the man dropped 3 catches and is very mobile in the field but he is on his way down weight wise. Graham Gooch got a pair in his first test. It took Steve Waugh 3 tests to score a test run and look what they have achieved.

Although I fear he may go the way of other such proteges England players who include: Mark Lathwell, Habib sorry don't know his first name, Chris Reed, Chris Schofield and all the others who have been dumped after not being able to make the "step up" immediatley.

3rd test predictions

the criticism may be harsh but England have missed an opportunity in the Series to take a look at other players with a view to the Ashes. They could have been in safe position in the series and then could have picked some of the fringe players in the last test at the Oval to see how good they are. Instead they have a battle for the series and it looks like we could lose players to injuries

3rd test predictions

German Bee, do us a favour - no predictions for the 4th test :D
