Have we ever won two consecutive competitive matches, each by a margin of 5 or more?

The closest I can find is

30 Aug 1971 H Barrow 4-0
4 Sept 1971 H Hartlepool 6-0

I don't know of any website where you do this research.

BTW, two games after the Hartlepool game we were at home to Posh, and won 5-1. Hopefully that is a portent....

A new HBO-series coming out next month...Brentford five-0.

Btw...off to see the swedish "big-nose" dump the big actor in some ditch....;)

Mark tweeted these facts soon after Saturday's game.

1. Only the fifth time we have won six or more games in succession in a season: 1932/33 (7 games); 1957/58; 1991/92 (twice) and 2013/14.

2. Record consecutive league wins in a season is seven: 1932/33 and 2001/02.
(The club record for consecutive wins is 9, as the club won the last 2 games of the 1931-32 season and then the first 7 in 1932-33)

3. We have won two "home" games in succession by five or more goals prior in 1929/30 (twice); 1930/31, and 1971/72.

4. First time ever we have won two games in succession 5-0.

Was there in 71-72 and without checking a handful of games when we hit 4, 5 or 6, largely down to John Docherty, Big John O'Mara.

I'm pretty sure that in 71/72 we won 5-1 (Posh) then 6-4 v (Northampton?). We were 5-1 up and they came back to 5-4 before we got 6th against the run of play into the last 5 mins

71/72 My first season. I seem to remember that we were 1-0 down at halftime in one game and went on to win 5-1. Don't remember if that was the Posh game. It was a fantastic season for the number of home goals.

Before my time (just) but I always thought the 6-4 was against York?

My mistake you are right.

Yep 6-4 against York and you're right about the 5-1 scoreline being pulled back to 5-4 in about three minutes. The 6-1 was I think against Northampton not Peterborough and if I remember correctly they scored in about the second minute to take the lead (Dixie Deans anyone?) But then again I could be making this all up.

Was that the game when Paul Bence scored the fifth and was still celebrating as York scored three??

5-0

Remember the York game very well - we were 5-1 up and I went for a pee - when I came back my mates said it was 5-4 and I told them to p**s off as I didn't beleive them. lol

Yeh used to stand on New Road in those days when it went further back - went by bus so we could have a few beers - don't like going to bogs when play is going on but I was busting at the time !! And those midweek games under lights always seemed so much better - don't know why.Mind you when I first started going the floodlights were along the roof of the stand. :D

Yeh I sort of remember the old lights along the roof. Weren't the current pylons purchased 2nd hand from Millwall or some club similar?

It was :) only trouble was, that after beating QPR 6-1 on the opening day of the 65/66 season we got relegated and Rangers finished third. And that was the last time we beat them..............It's Brentford innit :)

True...:(
But, maybe we should now change that phrase to ' That was old Brentford, wasn't it'?:sorted:

Far too grammatical!

However, 'That were old Brentford, weren't it' sounds too Yorkshire, so you can't win.
