A few names

This part of the board (my favourite part!!) has been a bit quiet recently so I thought I'd throw a few names into the hat:

Jonas Axeldal (Ipswich)- being released and looked very good for them pre-season, never really given much of a chance.

Paul Wheatcroft (Free transfer summer 2000)
Dominic Studley (Free transfer summer 2000)
Stephen Rose (Free transfer summer 2000)
Stephen Cosgrove (Free transfer summer 2000)
Mark Wilson
Michael Clegg
All above are Man Utd youngsters and a couple you may recognise. Some may be too expensive but theres always loans and Uncle Ron is a shrewd man!

Neale Fenn (Transfer listed)- Spurs young striker. Might cost a bit but possibly just what we need?
Mark Gower (Transfer listed)- Another Spurs younster. Midfielder I beleieve.

Gary Alexander West Ham- Young striker who wants first team football. Was on loan to a Nationwide side last season i think.

Danny Allsopp man city- wants first team football. Rumoured to be quite handy. I think Walsall or someone was interested.

Lee Briscoe sheff wed- wants first team football. Many natiuonwide clubs going in for him. May command high wages but still....

Graham Barrett (Arsenal)- young striker rumoured to be going out on loan to QPR for the whole of next season. Quick, lets nab him!

Micky Stockwell (free transfer) Ipswich- right winger. Takes on players. Great crosser. May be old but maybe we need a bit of that in the team. Could provide the width we need!

I don't thing we can afford any of the Man Utd players. They may not cost anything, but they will still want Premiership wages and most of them are unproven at any level. If they were really good then surely Man Utd would keep them!!
Alexander is good, but I think West Ham want to keep him.

I have just wasted an hour going through the Football League list of registered players.

The following are of interest but the pickings are very slim

OUT OF CONTRACT (UNDER 24 FEE PAYABLE)

Neil Midgley - Ipswich striker, quick, sharp

Michael Ricketts - Walsall - another Benjamin when he wants, but also does a good impersonation of a tree

Luke Beckett - Chester, good finisher but too slight

Gavin Gordon - Lincoln, big, quick, clumsy

Chris Sedgwick - Rotherham , best winger in the 3rd Division last season

BOSMAN FREES

Graham Fenton - Walsall, likely to resign

Jason Fowler - Cardiff, tall, skilful, inconsistent

Lee Steele - Shrewsbury, scored a hat-trick against us, poor man's Steve Bull, bit small

The choice is very, very limited unless you try for a striker still in contract.

Danny Allsop played against us for Wrexham - on loan from Man City- and scored their second goal.

He looked VERY good and Wrexham are trying to hang onto him.

Wrexham chairman has told Brian Flynn that if Gillingford come in for him - he can go. Not much future for him them!!!
