It was Partridge who got turned for the first goal but Griffiths messed up to give the striker the chance to be one on one with Partridge.

From the start I've never rated Griffiths or Moore, they're both hard workers who have no talent what so ever. Griffiths is quick, passionate but somehow manages to miss every ball that comes his way and do the simple things so wrong.

Replacing him is more of a priority then getting a striker IMO.

The worst thing the club ever did was sell 2 very settled CB's and try and replace them on a shoe string budget while competing with other clubs and expect them to gel straight away.

We got what we deserved by selling our defence. How poor Leroy was expected to replace Sodje and Turner on the budget he was given I'll never know. This IMO is the boards biggest mistake and the reason we are where we are. Is it really a surprise?

I don't think it's as simple as that. In the previous two seasons we've not got up because we haven't taken chances but we haven't struggled because we've had an excellent defence.(at league 1 level)

Now we have three problems.

1) A weak defence with no pace or shape or leadership
2) A weak midfield that doesn't create or defend effectively. Previously it didn't create but by and large competed and with the exception of Southend away and Bournemouth at home didn't outfootball us.
3) No obvious tactics, strategy or formation for forwards, Willock and someone, or Winegum and someone or Fola and someone or Moore and someone, I could go on. We need to play to our strengths and the only one currently IMHO is Jo's pace and fear he creates when he gets at defenders.

So best way to use him is to have accurate balls played on the floor in front of him and facing the right way, or to have a target man that can flick on balls into his path. That requires ball playing midfielders which I believe Keith and Leary may prove to be and a centre forward who actually knows where he is directing the ball. On Saturday the most dangerous balls came from Abbey! Someone also needs to guide Jo as he isn't the most intelligent footballer and while I think he's great he'll benefit from someone telling him where and when to run to find space. To be fair he's beeen shunted from pillar to post so may not be sure where he's expected to be on the park but for me the further forward the better.

Adam Griffiths

The problem is we don't give ourselves a chance because we let in such stupid goals. I'd take a 0-0 over a 4-0 loss at home. At 0-0 if you're struggling to score goals there is still a chance the other side will be stupid under the pressure, when they're 2-0 up because of a useless central defence then you've kissed the game goodbye especially when you don't score goals.

We're replying on the team scoring 3 goals or so at the moment to win and until that is resolved we have no chance. Leroy maybe should of got 2 experienced defenders on loan but the sale of Turner and Sodje killed us.

Millwall fans were saying after the game that upfront and in midfield we were one of the better teams and very lively!

Clean sheets builds confidence that will result in goals. Until we sort out the spine we'll achieve nothing. Always build from the back forwards.

Adam Griffiths

One mistake that led to a goal. One massive tackle that probably stopped a goal.

Adam Griffiths

The drink must have affected me i thought he did alright yesterday, couldnt see if he was at fault for the goal though.

Adam Griffiths

He's had his hair cut, though... rofl

Adam Griffiths

...less time in front of the mirror now...........

Adam Griffiths

He needs to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Adam Griffiths

Played well on Saturday apart from the error which led to the goal. He seems to be a complete liability at the moment, but he's the only available centre-back we have.

The following is an excert from an Aussie newspaper article:

It is the same message Joel Griffiths will deliver to twin brother Adam, who is playing for third-division Brentford in England.
Like Leeds, Brentford are in a relegation dogfight, sitting second from bottom.
Adam, a central defender, spent two seasons at Newcastle Jets, and coach Gary van Egmond has made no secret of his desire to reunite the brothers.
"I try and speak to Adam when I can," Joel said. "I'm not sure what his thoughts are [about coming home] at the moment. He has a girlfriend over there and that.
"I know the Jets would love him to come back, with his aerial prowess and ability to score goals with his head."

If they want him back that much, I'm sure we can have a whip round to pay his girlfriend's airfare.

I think it is harsh to criticise a player who was probably our best player during our good run in August. He is so low on confidence due to the form he showed during the poor run and it will take a certain mental strength to overcome that. If you look at what Fitz has done you will see that only really O'Connor, Kuffour and Frampton are playing regularly now from Leroy's team.
Charlie Ide has come into his own under Fitz and neither Tillen or Mousinho were regular starters in that run.
Fitz and Alan Reeves have both worked one on one with Griffiths re his aerial ability when defending, and he has not just been shunned so they must have thought something of him before their patience ran out. I like the guy and would personally prefer to see him playing midfield as cover for Mousinho in the holding role, although I still dont think either is the answer just yet.

Adam Griffiths

I think it's plain to see the Griffiths does not figure in Fitz's plans for next season. I suspect he's played his last game for the club.

 Fifth in the pecking order is not a good place to be and was exactly where he ended up at Bournemouth.

Adam Griffiths

He can go he has got to be the worst defender in the league!!! He is useless and can go back to Oz and play in the mickey mouse league and he still would be the worst player over there!!! Stick to cricket!!

Strongly disagree.

He was our best player, with the exception of Jo K in August.

Beginning of September there were posts on here, me included wondering how long we could keep him and asking why Bournemouth had released him. There was also talk of Australian call up but it all seems to have fallen apart.

He's brave and he's strong and he can pass the ball, however......he is possibly the most naive defender I have witnessed in a bees shirt and puts himself in jeopardy regularly by poor decision making. I think that has a lot to do with the players around him. If Fitz senior was behind/alongside him talking to him, I think he'd be fine.

When Bees early form went on a slump, so too did the defence and goalkeepers(both of them), there was no organisation and no leadership and I think Griffiths IMHO suffered the worst as he couldn't seem to understand what he was doing wrong and no one was there to point it out.

Having said that it's still down to him...he's an adult and a professional so if he isn't intelligent enough to listen and learn and improve then he should be offloaded.

Annoying because there could be a footballer in there somewhere

Adam Griffiths

I disagree for a defender he has no ability in the air and not enough strength. If i was a striker i would be rubbing my hands playing against him. You can see with he transfer history that i do not think he has played for a club for a whole season because he is just not good enough.

Adam Griffiths

He has a poor attitude to the game. Late for training, not motivated Etc.
Fitz wants fighters (a la Allen) so it's laters mate.

I personally think the cull made by Fitz has helped unite the 'new' team.

Adam Griffiths

I agree with royaloak and sonof.

Griffiths was outstanding for us earlier on, which shows he can do it. Jumping on the "who are we allowed to slag off this week?" bandwagon isn't going to help the lack of confidence which presumably has contributed to his poor form. And now, of all times is when we need a bit of PMA around the place.

A good post and to add to it, I believe Griffiths was playing through injury when his form dropped too!!

Four games do not make a season. The guy is 27 and has never played regular football until now. He's been found out I think.

Adam Griffiths

There is certainly is some ability there, but his biggest downfall is his concentration levels. He can look ok & sometimes good for best parts of many games. However you can almost guarantee a few gone to sleep moments from him every game and he is found out and a goal is scored.
Even in the early games in August when he was supposed to be at his best for us, if you look at the goals we conceded you will see that he is very much part of the cause in a great many.

Shows how quickly things change. A short while ago Framps was offering out fans and everyone was quick to say 'he's not that good anyway, sell him to MK'.
Now in last few games he has been arguably our best performer and there are calls for him to be made captain

Adam Griffiths

Started the season well but - whether from poor attitude, lost confidence or forwards finding him out - his form fell to pieces around the turn of the year. At the moment, when all are well he seems to be 5th choice (behind Frampton, Richards, Heywood and Osborne), but Heywood is injured and Richards currently only with us for a month, so I wouldn't push Griffiths out yet.

If he came back in, and recaptured his early season form, he might have a future, but it's not looking good at the moment

Adam Griffiths

How can people stick up for him, apart from a few games, he has been a disgrace to the art of Defending!

Adam Griffiths

What player, apart from JK, can we honestly say has been consistently good from the first match ??...none!

At the moment Framo is Superman, a few matches ago, we all thought he was crap!

Give Griffiths a break, he has performed well for a fair few matches and like every other one of his teamates, is going through a bad patch. I am not saying its right or wrong, but he is no different to every one of his teamates this season and I for one think, when he has been good, he has been very, very good. He has won MOM 3 times ( only beaten by Kuffour and Moushino) , is 4th in the MOM table and has the third highest votes. Short memories, I think.......

Adam Griffiths

I have to say that I thought he started brilliantly. I think I'm on record as saying as much. But the last few months he has been a liability, sorry to have to say this because I do not think its through lack of effort. I would love to see him succeed, but it will take a major effort on his part to win a new contract. One thing I do know, I never want to see a team at GP as bad as the one that we had this season.

Adam Griffiths

Top Post.
To get out of this mess we will need a SQUAD of united players with all us fans united behind every one of them. There are plenty of players still with us that are in the same boat as Griffiths re lost confidence, loss of any form etc and we will need to use all of them I suspect at some point between now and the end of the season.

I don't think Fitz has the same idea and nor did Martin when he first took over when in the same situation.

Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes - yep, can see where you're coming from but imho the ones we've currently got will do the job I'm sure ! :sorted:

Typical penny pinching board. When are they going to put their hands in their pockets and back this club. :banghead:

I clapped Griffiths off away at Chesterfield as he was head and shoulders above all of our players that day.

He is a liabilty on the pitch. No pace, gets turned too easily, makes far too many costly errors. I don't care if he had a good game 5 months ago, its now that matters!

Adam Griffiths

Consistency is often the difference between a non league player and league player.

He's non league or possibly Aussie League.

I gave him MOM 4 or 5 times in a row around that point. Players performances decline and I accept that but for the last couple of months he hasn't wanted to be here and it shows on the pitch.
