Ajax Amsterdam

Has anyone been to a match at Ajax ?
I ask because I am in Amsterdam for a short break and I noticed that Ajax are playing Nice in a Champions League qualifier 2nd leg.
Whilst I am aware the stadium is amazing, more concerned about whether its safe to attend a fairly high profile game, given also I may take my son (who is 12).

I believe there is still a hooligan issue there and given I am Asian I have concerns about taking a chance to watch a game whilst I am out there ?

Advice welcome..

Have you done the Pancake Bakery and Anne Frank House? Can't give any info on Ajax but those two are right next to each other and are well worth the visit especially with a kid!

Amsterdam is such a great city so much better IMO than the overhyped Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris etc...

Yes both those on the checklist to do with the kids.

Ajax ultras go in sections 424 + 425, in the upper ring. Traditionally, the F-Side sit behind the south goal in sections 125-129, although the main noise comes from the younger element in sections 424 + 425. Just sit in the Family section no chance of any issues there. I was in Holland for a year and never seen any problems at the football, mind you I was up in Groningen not in the Dam.

Let the ticket office know you are with your son and you want to sit in the family section, go forth and enjoy.

Went a few years ago for a league game. Great atmosphere and great stadium. Only downside is you will have to buy stadium cards to buy inside and you can't just top them up. If its short by 20 cent etc you have to buy a new one.

In terms of fans, I didn't see any problems what so ever and would be very surprised if it there is any.

As said above, go in the family section. I took my daughter there from when she was nine. Never any problems - usually stayed in the ground until about ten minutes after the finish so that the crowd had dispersed a bit.

Been a few times and a work mate took his son at about the same age as yours , never seen any issues.

Went a couple years ago, didn't see any issues. Amsterdam is a great city

I was in Amsterdam years ago now, and saw I think an American Football game there.

The only real issue I encountered was the bloke in front of me sparking up a joint.

weighing up the Ajax v PSV game on March 31st, any Ajax veterans got an idea of whether I'll have a chance at getting 6-8 tickets for it? I'm guessing the chances are slim to none lol

I think i met the same Ajax fans, talking about the Dutch league and that, they reckoned we'd clean up....
