Alan Bennett

Alan Bennett

Gets a mention from Wycombe's Matt Bloomfield, who was also on the UEFA B course...

The four hours a day I spent in the car with Kevin O'Connor (Brentford's longest-serving player) and Alan Bennett (AFC Wimbledon) were mostly spent - apart from the frustration of the morning traffic on the M25 - filled with discussion about our course, exchanging funny stories from over the years in our careers and general football chit chat. Somehow the route was changed halfway through so that instead of all meeting at the same point, me and Kev went past Benno's front door to pick him up. I'm exaggerating a little, but I'm not sure how he swindled that one! Must be the Irish charm...

The scorer of my favourite ever bees goal - the first away at Darlo in 'that' game :bound:

Top Man

Alan Bennett

Just think how excited some were when he came to us on loan from Reading. How times change.

He was really good at that standard. However league 1 was a step up too far for him unfortunately.

He's an absolute gent. I have gotten to know him a little since he's been at AFC, and there's no doubt, he's a Cork lad at heart. Other than lack of pace, he didn't half play well for AFC>

He's moving into journalism when he does hang up his boots. I cannot even begin to tell you what a personable and engaging bloke he is, with great memories of Brentford.

I've reminded him to send any young stars to Brentford.

The time I went to Korea I think I came back a stone lighter, couldn't bare the food, seemed to have fried cabbages with everything !

I did eat all I could too!!!

As you stand within close proximity to me on the left hand side of Ealing road can you confirm whether or not you are the phantom farter ????

You lot are more centre than left. :thetruth:

We are definately left hand side... Would never go to the centre as there is a really angry old man in there who goes mental when he hears critcism of players from the left hand side. Earlier this season I thought he was going to have a heart attack with the rage that came over him after a perfectly legimate comment was made about Button's accuracy with the boot... On an occasion last season he decided he was going to knock the bloke out who was slagging off Sam Saunders and proceeded to wade his way through the crowd by the time he got to the left side the bloke had already disappeared for his bhati pie....Much to angry mans annoyance

The bit under the roof is the centre. :thetruth:

Alan Bennett

You sound like Tony Blair claiming the centre left and centre right:)

You're welcome to it. Extreme left suits me, just fine.

Love Corner, forever... well, until it's demolished.

Alan Bennett

Playing for Cork City who are losing 1 nil to Dundalk in the FAI cup final. His ears look as if they have got bigger since he left the Bees.

Alan Bennett

Was assisting Kevin O'Connor with the Under 21's yesterday - future BFC coach ?

Alan Bennett

Made me wonder if it was him in charge of the under-21's in KOC's absence on Monday. Someone wearing a woolly hat was quite vociferous on the touchline and I couldn't work out who it was. But I've just looked at the photos from the game, and it was Flemming Pedersen.

Alan Bennett

Wins the FAI Cup Final with Cork City in the Aviva Stadium today. Beat Dundalk, who are a very decent team and still in the Europa League.

Well done Alan.

Alan Bennett

Alan Bennett has been named the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers' Association Player of the Month for November.

Alan Bennett

A case of a player who was class at League 2 level but couldn't cope with League 1 and the physicality. Very strange.

Alan Bennett

I'd forgotten about him. I thought the playwright must have died.

Alan Bennett

Very good for us in the bottom division but not quite enough for the division above. His signing coincided with a lot of others that helped pick us up when we were rock bottom; the beginning of the beginning if you like. Think he got a few full international caps too, so fair play to him.

Well summed up Ken. That's exactly how I see it too.
