An Epitaph

Here lies the body of brentford football club.

for nearly 100 years it has graced griffin park..

some good times and some bad times

but now just sad times

killed by an inept management and a board too scared to see past its own noses and do the radical surgery needed in getting rid of the growth called Wally Downes

the third division beckons and then what ? the conference or even the ryman league?

Every other club in our position has tried to do something about it.

What have we done?

nothing
nothing
and nothing again

all I can see next year is more sadness and despondency as crowds plummet followed by administration and then the docking of points for administration
followed by the conference

R.I.P

I will always follow the bees and will visit the grave often

I don't mean to throw a note of optimism into this mire of despondancy...and I am gutted about today's result and the mess we're in...but...

Football teams have been relegated before...and survived!

Brentford have been relegated before...and survived!

Football teams have escaped relegation before (I admit we're not looking like favourites to fill this catagory, but it happens...)

This season don't look good, (but don't give up) but there's no reason to logically suppose that relegation this year would automatically lead to further relegation etc...You never know it might lead to promotion...woo hoo.

Isn't our jobs, as football fans, to be optomistic? Difficult this season, but next year....

Go on...smile!

Bike ride to Southend and walk to Orinet don't sound too bad and I've heard Chester is very nice.

The only thought that has occured to me is that it will keep the walk to Wycombe going another year.

That is very very sad :(

Chester is a lovely place - I hung around for a day a few years ago after we won 0-3 on a Tuesday night.

Go and check out the roman walls (second best in the country after York they reckon ) and then go for a beer in the town centre - pub is 500 years old - very low ceiling etc - stale beer though lol

only kidding about the stale beer

yeah why not go to blackpool- il miss college for it!

at the end of the day i dont think its the relegation factor that is pissing every one off as it is a fact of life and it has to happen at the end of every season. its the fact that it could have been avoided and nothing has been done to stop it.

Very true claire it is the lack of any action that has brought us into this mess.

Therefore for those who optimisticly presume we will get out of div 3 just think if our board had acted earlier in all liklihood we would have avoided relegation therefore why should anyone suppose that the board will act in a proffessional manner next year.

It is this thought that makes relagation now so much more difficult to bear and has created the mix of anger and apathy that is now so prevelant around the club.
