Andrew Wainwright

I notice that BU have finally decided to announce Mr Wainwright's resignation.

Andrew Wainwright

Yeah yeah yeah, nice bloke and all that but he didnt think that JM or SC should resign or be sacked for their performance at BFC...says all I need to know...

Spoken with him lately have you ?

Well now seeing that Andrew has also resigned from his directorship at BFC (nothing on that official site of course) it will be interesting to see who Bees United puts up to replace Andrew to maintain their voting majority on the BFC board.

Another "Graham "F" Hall will tell us all that we need to know about where we are going.

Will there be an election for the vacant slot or will Bees United just slide in a "ringer" with instructions not to rock the boat.

Andrew Wainwright

He's done the right thing IMHO. Let's see if Graham Hall will follow Andrew's example.

I'd love to see BU appoint eghambee to the board, imagine the look on Finch's face when he saw who one of his bosses was :D

Indeed, how about raising some funds for backthebees by saying that they will appoint eghambee to the board and life members of Bees United get to see the first meeting between him and Finch :sorted: I'd be tempted by that offer.

I would say that your post was inaccurate !

Was he or was he not one of the BU appointed reps that had to be reminded of their BU roles at that BFC Board meeting

Sorry Brickie, didn't see that part in your original post !

As far as I'm concerned, Andrew is an extremely decent person full stop (no fairy stories about monorails and never a "everything's gonna be alright" wink, pat on the shoulder and smile stuff ;) ). He has his own legal practice in South London which has taken up so much of his time that he cannot devote sufficient time to BFC/BU matters hence his resignation. He was totally despondent and gutted after the BIAS meet which was more than others felt.

Andrew Wainwright

I'm not doubting he is a nice bloke and all that but he and the rest of the Board should all hang their heads in shame for what has gone on.

The fact is was too busy with his own job is neither here nor there in my opinion. He was appointed to look out for the supporters interests. Do you think he has done a good job?

Andrew Wainwright

Andrew is one of the good guys and it wouldn't surprise me if he feels badly let down by people he trusted. I wonder why BFC hasn't announced the resignation of one of its directors?

Andrew Wainwright

Again, Andrew is a good guy, not doubting that BUT he was elected to do a job for the supporters. Do you think he has acheived that?

No he has not Brickie. In my view Bees United has been particularly ill-served by its appointees to the BFC board namely McGlashan, Callen, Wainwright and Hall.

Andrew Wainwright has recognised this and has done what he believes to be the decent thing. Compare Andrew's soul searching with Graham Hall's attitude which is that he is one of the "fat cats" now and how dare we even think to question him on anything that he does or does not do on our behalf.

I have posted before that by allowing Hall to continue in his position then Bees United is giving the impression that they are perfectly happy with his performance. That is how Hall will read it anyway and he is correct to do so. I believe that everyone has a right to assume that his boss is happy with his work unless he is taken aside privately and told of the areas where an improvement is deemed essential. I have seen or heard nothing to suggest that Hall's contribution to the BFC board of directors does not have the wholehearted endorsement of the BU board so on that basis my prime quarrel is with the BU board.

Andrew Wainwright - a thoroughly decent Gentleman

Another question in addition, nice one :sorted:

Andrew knows that he has to bear some of the responsibility for the current state of play by his being a Director hence his resignation.

Because of the current state of play, none of the Directors can be happy or proud of their efforts re the financial affairs but Andrew has, I understand, given free legal advice etc., to BFC> So in that instance, yes, he has done a good job as he stood up in the areas that he specialises but overall, refer above para.

I know this is going off topic, but what abee says about BU seems logical. I was sitting near the front at the bias forum and assumed the suited guys in front of me were from BFC. Because, whenever anything negative was being said from the floor these guys were all making snide remarks towards whoever was questioning. It was only afterwards, when I deliberately made conversation with one of the main moaners, that I found out they were in fact from BU!! It's obvious from that, they don't like criticism towards any of their clan!

Lets hope that now Andrew has at least admitted he can't spend as much time as he would have liked doing the BFC job and therefore resigned, that the other BU appointed BFC directors follow suit, but due to doing a sh*t job!!

The normal sort of thing, 'sit down, shut up', 'You haven't got a clue' type of comment.

Interesting comments given that the BIAS committee were told that they knew more than the BU Board at one point :D

Andrews resignation is now of the official BFC site

That ties in nicely and I saw the "blokes" that you are talking about.

It would never ever occur to them that the fact that "we haven't a clue" would be anything to do with their communication would it now??

BFC and Bees United are just cozy little clubs which have been living a lie for several years now. God forbid that anyone should ever question anything that they do.

Does this mean AW is now excused from signing the "whitewash" document?

Yes, and I doubt he could of signed it with the finanical implications contained within.

In all my time working for BFC, Andrew was the only director I trusted fully and I respected his opinion.

He has saved this club ££££ in legal advice, when previously BFC were spending something in the region of £100-200k a year when Altonwood decided that city lawyers were the best way forward. :(

nothing :D but when I was told it cost BFC - not Altonwood - around £80k to split the two companies up back in 1998 so Mr Noades could enjoy some tax breaks it leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

The legal battle with Goldberg on who should use the training ground - CPFC or BFC - cost around 100k. It's okay, stick on the overdraft. :banghead:

It is unfortunate that Andrew felt unable to say more publicly about his reasons for resigning.

Hopefully come Jan 2006, there will be a long night and long swords.

I have memories of AW doing all the crap stuff with ABeeC that the likes of Hall wouldn`t stop eating pies for. Thankyou Andrew and good luck.

As for his opinions of JM and SC, I fell he saw himself like BB having to keep the middle ground and keeping all on board and not just the likes of the GPG. Wrong possibly, but certainly not for personal gain.

I'm sorry I don't know any names (that comes from sitting in New Rd!!), the guy I talked to who was doing a lot of the head turning and tutting, says he collects the small change tins for BU.

That would be Ron Cooper then - standing for election to the BU Board.

Andrew Wainwright

I'm sad to see Andrew go.
Is there now an extra place on the BU board for the election candiates to fill (i.e 6/9 rather than 5/9)

Will the new board or the existing board elect/ choose/ install his replacement on the BFC board

tinman on gpg and came last in BFC board elections from recollection. The thing is, I could easily say that he hasn't a clue and if he knew the truth, and furthermore

Considering he adressed the hustings as 'Gentlemen' when my wife (and a couple of other women I think) was sitting in front of him, shows the bloke is brainless IMHO.

I think that was John Huggins!! Same meat different gravy, no??!!

Its very easy to be critical but there is not a crowd of people willing and able to take over from people like Andrew. I am very sorry he has gone and we will struggle to find a replacement for someone of his calibre.

brian the problem is this apathy has got us into the horrendous mess we are in. " He`s Brentford through and through that JM, anyway who else would do it for £35k a year"

Andrew Wainwright

I would like to add my thanks and appreciation to Andrew for all the hours of unsung work he has carried out on behalf of the club - work that has saved the club substantial legal costs, and he is still to be found on matchdays rattling the collecting buckets.

He has been an honest and diligent servant of the club and has done more than his fair share.

Yes, he IS a friend of mine but I honestly believe that posterity will look back on his term of office more favourably than others we could all name.

Andrew Wainwright - top man !

On the BU e-mail newsletter thingy ;

I am very sorry to announce that Andrew Wainwright has decided, due to the pressure of work involved in leading his busy law practice, to resign as a member of the Bees United board. Andrew has been one of the most valued and respected members of the board from the early days of the Trust. His professionalism and integrity are a shining example to us all and his influence will be missed by both the Trust and the Club as he has also resigned from the board of Brentford FC Ltd.

On behalf of everyone at Bees United I thank Andrew most sincerely for all the hard work and help he has given us and for his expression of ongoing support.
