Started a new thread as all the others were locked. Don't know if anyone noticed but he got off the mark for Gillingscum the weekend before last, opening the scoring in their 2-1 victory over Plymouth. He has made five appearances, starting the last three games, but was subbed after about an hour in each of those.

If he IS being recalled - just five days before the loan ends anyway - I'm surprised. I would have thought Paul Hayes' experience would be more use with a hectic run-in to the end of the season.

Hayes has a job to do for us with Crawley.

Does this mean Farid is further away the 1st team than first thought?

Recalling Antonio is an odd one. Has one of our strikers picked up an injury. Whilst I dont think Uwe will be banking on Farid playing a significant role in the run-in on paper we have Clayton, BWP and Trotta vying for 1 or 2 striker berths a game. Plus Paul Hayes one would have thought wopuld be most likely to be recalled if we did have an injury? Could just be that Uwe has liked what he has seen from German at Gillingham and thinks he could do a job for us coming from the bench.

The German delivered for us when it mattered. I must also thank Brentford for allowing us to have him. I have never been to Nandos as many times, in all my life, as I have in the last few weeks.

Hayes cannot be recalled as he hasn't been out on loan for 28 days yet.

I just think we are stockpiling players as given the need to play 8 games in just over 4 weeks we might well need everybody we have.

I hope that adrenaline and quality of our medical department will help keep players fit and able to play but it can't do us any harm to have an extra striker in the building just in case.

We are missing Lee and Barron so we are not flush with players.

I'd go along with that. Plus, although he has figured in the Dev Squad games, we have no real idea of how Farid would fare against a full-throttle Notts or MKD.

Farid I cant see playing a role unless its in play-offs. I dont think we would recall German for the weekend's fixtures unless we have a fitness doubt over one of three main-line strikers. Hope wrong but if looking beyond this weekend then would be better if German got another couople of games (and hopefully goals)under his belt at Gills.

maybe it's just a case of having the numbers, the whole squad as a ONE.. no one being left out..

AG's equaliser vs PNE could be the difference between play offs and aut promotion, scored asfter a very late substitution.

Uwe has been having to leave Hodson out recently due to number of loanees in squad etc. German returning might allow him to leave out a more attack minded loan player in his sixteen to allowe Hodson on the bench (Barron injured now)

If Uwe cannot ( yet) recall Hayes, and if Farid is a long way off first-team match fitness, then maybe recalling German is a sensible decision, especially as he seems to have done rather well at Gillingham. Also, as mentioned by Condorman above, our options on including all of our current loan players in the matchday squad are limited.

A good point - also think then allows Hodson to play right back and Logan left back behind Forrester if that left sided pairing can frighten Chelsea then what could do to Division one sides. Bidwell then on bench.

turned down a new contract, we are entitled to compensation if he signs for another club..

Guessing he has been offered something elsewhere . Strangely would rather keep him and release Hayes . Possibly better to come as opposed to best times passed !!

My understanding is we didn't offer him terms that were much different from his development contract and he felt he could earn more elsewhere, probably in League 2.

Kind of got the feeling he had a bit of an attitude so not hugely surprised by this news. Expect he feels he should be first choice somewhere and good luck to him he has the talent.

Think their is a decent forward in there somewhere but we haven't really seen it. I was surprised that Uwe didn't let him go anyway, don't think the management quite know what to make of him. They obviously think he's got something but you would have expected him to make more of an impression on the First team squad by now.

Not hugely worried...although young he has a fair amount of games under his belt for others and never really threatened to get into our squad...

To be honest, if he hasn't impressed by now it isn't likely to happen for him at Brentford. I thought he looked strictly 4th division to me and not good enough for a side challenging for Championship football.

He couldn't finish, isn't big and contrary to most reports he seems quite slow.
Scored one worldy header but apart from that, meh.
Would of preferred him to stay but not too bothered.

The potential is there but then he seems to be someone that's been said about for years now.

Good luck to him so long as it doesn't come back to bite us.

Agree totally. He came across as full of himself in many beesplayer interviews. I'm surprised he hasn't been more grateful to a club that have offered him a second chance in league football when he was in oblivion before. Agree with others who say this is a chance to get a promising young striker on our books.

Surprised was offered a new deal in the first place, no great loss at all. Still can see him going to Gillingham.
