Apologies Due!

Apologies Due!

People like you have cost BFC thousands of pounds and for what, for your own sick pleasure. I hope your boss abuses you tomorrow.

I am the Boss

Apologies Due!

One of your more banal comments which is up against some pretty stiff competition. Do you think we got VFM for, say Oli Skulasson? That worked out to about £10k a game from memory. Some value.

Most Brentford fans want their players to give 100%. If they do that we can ask no more, regardless of what they earn. Footballers perform in the public arena, so if they cannot handle it, don't let the door hit their arse on the way out.

You can't blame a bloke for having a severe injury that keeps him out for a year, I can't think of many players who walked right back into the game after that kind of injury. He was never given a PROPER chance at Brentford. Yet he's played for his country and now a bigger european club then Brentford, he's not a rubbish player. The main factor in Oli going was the amount he was on. The end of the day we're not patient with players and expect results straight away. You just don't get quick fixes in football but fans expect that now, I'm sure we're much less patient then we used to be. 4 losses in a row and people will be calling for Butchers head.

You want to talk about value for money then charging the amount Brentford do is 100% not value for money that will attract new supporters, we're in league 2!! I don't mind paying it but I've enjoyed going to Brentford for years. Brentford isn't as welcoming anymore and the atmosphere is much worse, there seems to be a be **** off message for the average fans to be honest with this more holy then thou attitude with some. The whole attitude with some supporters and the club in general is a bit b***ocks at the moment. Support has gone and been replaced with blame culture.

You've just compared apples with oranges, well done.

How much of that is due to being able to talk BFC 24 hours a day on sites such as this? IMO fans have always been treated poorly by the club but this issues are highlighted by the discussions on the GPG. In the past you just wouldn't have heard about many of the negative incidents

Martin Allen was a "quick fix"...... were you around after Blunstone went youmust remember the abuse and slow hand claps the players took. Bill dodgin saved us. Last seasons failings were built on frustration as from beng top in march 06 we had no hope and direction by november.

I think the fans are all behind the team this season .

Apologies Due!

I wonder whether those who find it easy to criticise, abuse and complain are man enough to recant when appropriate? The abuse that players receive from GPG's on occasion goes beyond acceptable. I wonder how you would feel if your day job were subject to scrutiny by an anonymous entity. Not much I suspect! The negative energy you exercise could be harnessed and used to be supportive in bad times as well as good and we would all be a better place for it. So you Kev & Moushino knockers give it back when due and don't spinelessly dish it out, take it back. Your call!

I am not quite sure what your point is to be honest. Last season was the worst in the history of the club with some absolutely cack players and then a handful of good ones who gave up about xmas time. This season is different, new manager and virtually a new team, the few remaining players have a lot to make up for but I have yet to see anyone get a hard time from the fans other than brooker (who to be fair has done more to upset his current manager with his antics then any fans).

If your point is this...that after scraping our first victory in about 12 months against barnet we should all hang our heads in shame and admit we were wrong to have a go at any player in the laat 12 months, then quite frankly you are very deluded!

Apologies Due!

It's all very well trying to take a positive slant, but if people aren't allowed to slag off the players we had in the worst season in the club's history (the only time it has ever finished last - and Rotherham gave us a ten point start), then when exactly would criticism be acceptable?

I'm afraid that it's a tough old world and players need to be able to take the rough with the smooth.

I don't think you can blame the players as such!! Clearly the problems last year were due to management from top down!!

We clearly went into the season with a management structure and a squad which wasn't cut out for the season ahead!!

It is little wonder the players lost belief....when the squad is slashed and there is little direction coming from above.

It is the same in any business - if you lose 6-7 of your top performers (tabb, DJ, Sodje, Turner, Owusu, Pratley etc..) - then replace them with unproven or underperformers from competitors - then your current staff are going to be pretty demotivated!

It was for this reason that as soon as Leroy was announced as manager I was very sceptical of what was going on...after a few more weeks it became clear that we were setting ourselves up for a season battling relegation...which to me feels like I was being cheated on for my loyalty....and at that point I vowed not to step inside Griffin Park for the first season in 17 years!!

Your footnote even highlights this fact - it is more about the management than the players.

We have to remember that alot of our players do not have a lot of experience, and are likely to perform better if they are not under constant pressure and scrutiny...

Apologies Due!

Of course, but then I expect those players who do have experience to provide some leadership to those who don't. And they didn't. Whilst poor management didn't help last season, I don't think you can totally exonerate the senior pros because of that. And I'm not sure that I should be taking advice on my support from a self-confessed stayaway.

I agree in principle - but the gulf between top earners in the premiership (who really should be able to handle abuse given that they are paid so highly they must expect to effectively write of their lives and privacy) and guys in the lower leagues (who on the whole want to play football and earn enough money to have a reasonable lifestyle - during and after their playing careers) is an ever increasing gap and maybe we shouldn't be expecting them to handle the same level of pressure!

I think our current players wil lon the whole give 100% (exception of Brooker), but they may not alwasy handle the pressure.

With regard Oli - I think that ended up being an unfortunate situation to be honest! I think he could have been a huge asset - but really a player of his ability was joining a squad put together for championship football. To return from injury a year later to play with the dregs of league one...is hardly motivating! And not really helpful either to Oli or BFC...

So how would not attending games help these guys then? :fishing:

So because he was too good for the players around him it was ok for him to give up but still collect his pay?

That's part of the value for money us supporters get from the club. We love supporting Brentford and being able to talk about the issues with passion. Being able to argue and voice opinions. We all know Brentford charge too much for season tickets and general match day entrance for league 2 for attracting new supporters but for the old school we don't mind paying it.

I can understand it being negative after last season and we all felt angry at times. I've had a pop at players too and obviously everyone fan has a right to do this but then again it's not only the players who have not performed, it's the whole management struture. The lengths some people attack players on a personal level is disturbing if they honestly mean it. How can you expect players to perform consistently when everything is chopping and changing so much while we look for the quick fix. It's a sign of no confidence in them. John after 2 years of experience is starting to look like a very handy player.

Apologies Due!

But we all see different things, you saw a player who gave up, I saw a player who left the field after Gillingham had equalised against our 10 men completely heart broken and gutted. Oli had loads of passion and would even come into the stand before games to chat with fans in the paddock near the dugout while he was injured.

Apologies Due!

A little harsh - I have explained my reasoning behind that - and I believe it to be valid!!

I don't think that by religiously going to Griffin Park when people are making poor decisions this is helping anyone!

If managment are making poor decisions based on finances etc - they should be made fully aware of these poor decisions with a financial impact!

BFC - should be encouraging more fans to come to games by ensuring that there is value for money for its fans - not solely relying on blind loyalty! I felt last season they took a step too far!

This season - I am still a bit upset about the pricing on the whole but I have returned because I feel that the strategy of using younger keener players and bringing players in on loan is a more productive long term strategy...plus we seem to have a little more direction!

I was pretty impressed with how the team was trying to play football against Bristol City - however I still feel we need a bit of bite in the midfield!

Two managers gave up on him and their opinion counted more than yours. He gave up and threw a tantrum.

Mate - don't know what you buzz is?

I have explained my none attendance last year - for the first time in 17 years! It was nothing to do with the players!! I felt that the managment last year did not know what it was doing....and I didn't feel right in supporting that...giving more money to bad management is not a good strategy!!

To be honest my views are pretty objective...I am willing to be told that on certain angles here I am misinformed...and expect to be updated by those closer to the action...not vilified!!

With regard Oli - if you were at a company and the company was effectively stopping you from doing your job to your best of your ability you would get demotivated and look for another job!!

Wouldn't you?

Which is exactly what happened reading between the lines!

Apologies Due!

He gave up and threw a tantrum.

See I don't know what happened behind the scenes of why he was dropped. I know he was a good player and suffered with injury a lot which must have been frustrating. When Fitz came in he gave up on a lot of players and tried to re-build the team, that's not going to inspire you much is it. Attitude often does reflect leadership, when you have that many players 'giving up' something has gone very wrong somewhere.

TO be honest he probably undermined both managers - as I would imagine he probably voiced his concerns to both managers...

He almost certainly thought he was a better player than they were managers...which is true to an extent!!

I honestly do not feel too aggrieved by Oli - I think there have been far worse culprits (Brooker in my experience, and Heywood, Pinault etc by what I hear)...which leads me back to the management in my opinion!

I don't have a strategy, it's just my football club.

Apologies Due!

What has that got to do with it?

PS You are completely wrong on that also!

You're very good at telling people they're wrong but not good at giving the facts to why they're wrong. You want to tell us exactly what's happened then with the players concerned?

Were you on the training ground of in the dressing room at the time, or is it just chinese whispers?

Apologies Due!

Cos I'm guessing that they gave up on him due to differing opinions - rather than his footballing ability! As he was one of our better players!

with regards the PS - why not explain why? (and do you mean he wasn't a better player or he didn't feel like he was a better player?)

I appreciate that you know more than most when it comes to what is going on...but it is difficult to understand your viewpoint if it isn't explained!

Apologies Due!

Mate - that doesn't even make sense - unless you are proclaiming to be running the club now!!

I don't look at my club before the season starts and decide what my strategy for spending my money for the forthcoming season will be.

Apologies Due!

lol lol lol

Whilst there are people who don't know the players off the pitch, will make comments on here that go too far. Nothing wrong with criticisng players for bad performances imo, but to speculate the reasons for it is a bit harsh unless you know the player isn't really justified, although inevitable.

At the end of teh day but players who are going to be affected by GPG criticism:
1) Aren't mentally strong enough for a big boys game
2) Shouldn't read the GPG

Apologies Due!

To be fair to some of the posters on here I think I should clear up some of the earlier arguments:

I AM Chris Wickham

yeah nice one Mrs Brooker

Apologies Due!

We pay our money so are entiltled to say what we like. the players last season baring Ide, Abbey and possibly a few others deserved everything they got but thats the beauty of football there is always a new season round the corner to exercise the demons that lingered last time around.

Kev,Moushion and the rest have a clean slate and a chance to prove that last season was just a one off and get back to playing at a concistent level week in week out and recapturing there form and play to the standards that we know that they are capable of.

I sure wish that some GPG'ers were my bosses then maybe I could get away with under performing and still get a pat on the back.
