I have the utmost respect for
'arry as a coach and as a man. When you have the amount of dosh he should have your best friend is a decent accountant. He's the one who should know all the LEGAL dodges. In saying this consecutive governments Labour and Tory have tried to shut down any loopholes.There will allways be people who try to get one up on the system, but it's getting harder to do so these days. As far as I'm concerned 'arry is innocent until proved otherwise.Let's be honest, most of us like a bit of fiddle if we can get away with it. MP's have been doing it for years and most likely still are.So let's give 'arry the benefit of the doubt for now.

Problem is that he didn't tell his accountant or anyone about this account for years. This is nothing to do with 'legal loop holes' and playing the system to your advantage. He personally flew out to Monaco to open the account and kept quiet about it and then transferred funds to some other account in the US. 'Allegedly'

mandaric's evidence, to my completely-untrained eye, doesn't seem to be coming out too well. "it wasn't a bonus, it was just a token of my appreciation" hmm....

I don't really get how he seemed surprised a Policeman was staring at him while he gave evidence. And those pictures of him yesterday...maybe I don't feel so ugly after all.

I wouldn't say that. Not offering any comment on the rights and wrongs of this case, but the fact of a prosecution may make others think twice about what they dio vis-a-vis the taxman

Yep...not bad for someone who makes himself out to be totally incompetent on such matters. His words. Allegedly.

I am no expert here but as I have read it...

Mandric - Tranfers money from his USA account
Redknapp - Receives money into an account in Monaco

Thus no cash transfering through the UK and also with no proof that this money was for work carried out in the UK.

How can he be found guilty or have I missed something?

As i said I am no expert as I am paid by PAYE so have no idea about this sort of thing...

Have they provided substantial proof that the said money recieved was for work done as as UK employee?
I'm not being facetious but whilst reading up on the trial I haven't read anything that is cast iron proof that will nail him.

I fully believe he is as dodgy as you like but not sure how they can convict him on the evidence provided. Unless I have missed something...

Apparently Mandaric has been on trial at a previous date with Peter Storrie over irregularities with a pay off to Eyal Berkovic. He was cleared then too

Good morning - I am your HMRC Inspector. We have a case here that will cost us £8,000.000.00 before it gets to Court but the upside is we may recover about £40k of unpaid tax from a "Name" - The "Name" has a history of paying his taxes and has paid in excess of £8,000.000.00 in tax during his working life. The chap we shall be persuing with the "Name" was tried for the same type of thing back in October but we lost that one. We are hoping for better this time.

This country is not broke - It just Pis*** money away on stupid things.

Maybe HMRC could now go and pursue Vodaphone / Goldman Sachs for the £8 Million this fiasco has cost (Nope, can not do that cos those 2 companies have already been let away with Billions)

And when they have done that they can start on the £11.5 billion that they seem to have forgotten to collect (according to yesterday's press)

Quite, the Police and HMRC just love to chase a name and a premiership footballer/ manager is gold in their eyes. The way they "invaded" his house all those years ago symbolised that it was all an ego trip

Instead of spending £8m on a pointless court case why didn't they just simply ask him (without prejudice) for the tax on the basis it was a "misunderstanding?

If I opened an account abroad and filled it with taxable income I don't think I'd complain if the Revenue came after me, but all I hear from Arry is how he's been hounded all these years and how the case should never have been brought. Tax evasion by both individuals and companies should not be ignored, even if in this case the verdict was not guilty.

So someone “gives “ me £250000
-I don’t put it in my bank account
-I don’t go down to the local Barclays to open a new account.

I take the trouble to go to Monaco to open an account
-not in my name,but in the name of my dog.

Obviously all perfectly above board.

Isn’t the jury system wonderful?

If they gave the money to you in this Country for work done here then it would be taxable

If you earnt the money outside of the UK and it was paid outside of the UK it is my understanding (And the Jury today perhaps) that it only becomes taxable if you bring the funds into the UK.

Also, if someone GAVE you 250k as a gift, it would only be taxable if the person died prior to 7 years of the gift date maturing - If they die before the 7 year date then the Gift is taxable on a pro rata basis (Which I have no idea how to calculate) - I think the period is 7 years, someone will no doubt correct if wrong.

I have no problem at all with todays verdict or the verdict on Storrie/Mandaric last October if based on same facts as Arry's case.
