Holloway Road. (on the way there, it's closed post-match IIRC)

EDIT: just read that pre-match trains going north don't stop there, a reverse is required to achieve minimum walking distance

Holloway Road, but you need to go to Arsenal and get on another Piccadilly line train going southbound. Alternatively, just walk from Arsenal. But if the Victoria line or London Overground is more convenient, get off at Highbury & Islington and walk through Highbury Fields, Ronalds Road, Arvon Road and Drayton Park.

Hoping to reach the same level of travel contentment for the way back from Arsenal.

Highbury & Islington: preferred route on way there. Some queues on return but moved quite quickly - current winner
Finsbury Park: Connoisseurs choice among Gunners but feels wrong to head north to go south
King’s Cross: Bit of a schlep (45mins walk) Weather forecast is cold but dry this evening, no queues, plenty of journey options - plan to try tonight.

Grab one of plenty lime bikes available anfter the game and head to your preferred station. You could even do King’s Cross as it’s down hill all the way!

I got a bike last season and it worked a treat.

If anyone is heading east after the game, another option is a 20 minute walk up the Holloway Road to Upper Holloway station and getting the north London line.

Lastly, a walk to Angel can get you out of the post match madness. Plenty of options.

Thanks for local knowledge. Considered Cally Road but then thought southbound Piccadilly Line trains would be packed having loaded up at Arsenal. Rebus’s Lime bike idea to escape the vicinity has legs (well wheels).
6:30am kick off, a bit of a luxury vs middle of the night for most weekend games.
