Avatar size

Why are we only allowed avatars up to 21,000 bytes? I've just found a really nice one which fits into the 70x70 frame but it's 65,000 bytes, would it really strain the server that much for me to be allowed it?

it took me ages of messing about on the NBA website before i found one that fit, i had a wicked Philadelphia 76ers logo but it was 80 x 45, so too wide

would rather the board was running smoothly than piss about with avatars tho

I don't care about the dimensions, I had it resized so that it is only 70 pixels wide, it's just the file size that I meant.

There are no plans to change the max. size.

But the avatar is one image stored on the server. The same image is recalled for each user.

It depends on the users browser settings as to how often the image is reloaded from the server so, technically, the answer given is correct
