Has anyone worked out the final table for Travelling Fans as a Percentage of Home Attendances (home fans only)?

I suspect Bees figure reasonably highly by that measure, whereas teams like MK Donkeys and Bristol C are particularly weak.

The MK Dons home fans numbers are definitel fake - no idea how they do it but we had more fans than they did last away game yet was announced a 10k game or so

The "gate" includes season ticket holders irrespective of whether they turn up or not. It isn't the number of people actually in attendance.

Interesting that clubs like O's, Bees, Oldham, Vale and Notts Co. feature highly - i.e. clubs with lots of bigger clubs round them. This means that to follow a team like that, you've got to be pretty dedicated. Which in turn means you're more likely also to follow the team to away matches.

Whereas teams like Bristol City, Gillingham, Swindon and Colchester are more remote from big city clubs, therefore their home fanbase may contain more 'casuals' i.e. people in the region who just fancy the odd game, possibly accompanying a regular mate/family member? If so, it's maybe unsurprising that such fans don't travel.

Meanwhile, credit must go to Carlisle fans - crap season, miles from anywhere, yet still travel in decent numbers percentage-wise.

Reading through the MK programme and away numbers for their games, pretty much EVERY club brought more to them than they did to their respective opponents. 1-2 More years of no progress and I can see that stadium going the way of Darlingtons.

We'd have been around third or fourth in that table but for all the Yorkie teams in close proximity taking big crowds to each other. Sheffield United's average, even considering the mixed season they've had, was surprisingly modest for a supposed big club.

To be fair its also alot easier to get to away games (in a league with several NW/west midland teams) if your living near London, Manchester and even Carlisle, than it is if you live in Colchester or Swindon

True for those teams you cite, but MK Donkeys are ideally placed, whilst Carlisle really are way out in the sticks, yet look at their respective away followings.

And if you look at the size of the home support of eg Sheff U or Bristol C, for Bees and O's respectively to take nearly as many away, doesn't say a great deal for those "big" clubs.

Rotherham - next door to Sheff U - also show the Blades up, though I suppose Sheff U would point to all the away Cup ties they had to shell out for.

Anyhow, whilst it should never descend to some sort of "willy waving contest", I still think teams like the O's, Bees and Oldham can take a degree of pride in the fact that if they don't have many fans, at least those they do have seem very committed.

Oh, and Milton Keynes fans do have really, really small penises.

P.S. It would be interesting to see which club's fans had to travel the most miles to watch their team during the season. I'd say Carlisle would take the prize, though Gillingham might run them close? Anyone care to work it out? Ade211 was wondering how to keep himself occupied during the close season. ;)

Carlisle win this one by a country mile.

Gonna do Watford, Reading, Forest, Leeds, Ipswich, Norwich, Charlton and QPR for sure.

The fact is with our small stadium, even at 100% capacity every week we will still have possibly the 2nd lowest average attendance in The Championship next season.
Of those confirmed for 2014/15 only Bournemouth have a smaller ground. Of those still in the play-offs only Orient have a smaller capacity. Peterborough are of similar size to us but building a new stand as we speak & Rotherham are also similar but of course have the benefit of all the income better corporate facilities can bring.

Taking out relegated Barnsley & Yeovil everybody else has averaged at least approx 13,000 or so this season at our new level.

However well we do on the pitch, our income will be very low compared to our rivals until we get to Lionel Road.
I for one will be happy just to go there still as a Championship club.

Not pessimistic, just reality.

Bournemouth averaged 10,000 and Millwall 11,000 so we could be bigger than both of those and if Orient or Peteborough got promoted would be bigger than them as well.
We would still not be a big a club but potentially at least three clubs smaller than us next season.

How did Wolves take over 2500 away - most L1 grounds don't even have that many away tickets?

Millwall only escaped by the skin of their teeth.

And Bournemouth might have similar gates to Bees, but they haven't been relying on that revenue alone - their owner has been pumping big sums into the playing budget i.e. they made a £15.3m loss in the season 2012/13, but under the Championship's tighter FFP Rules:
"The maximum permitted loss in the Championship is currently £8m for the 2013-14 season, or £3m if an owner does not inject equity."

For financial reasons at least, we'd better hope O's win the P/O's, rather than PNE (esp), or even Rotherham or Posh, because that will be at least one club which will be more strapped for allowable income than Bees.

We (AFCB) did have a few sell outs last year, as you will do next! shame we can't get the capacity up to 15k just out of interest to see what the crowds could be. Shame Donny and Yeovil have gone, we are at the bottom now...Away average for us was 904, so not too bad and the division should be a bit more southern next season at least. Still weird getting 5 figure crowds though as compared to a couple of seasons ago. Away matches are better too as you just take more in the Championship - so much more fun than Lge 1!!

Bare in mind they took 8,000 to MK and if that was the only game they took any away fans to all season still wouldn't have the lowest average!

Point taken, but of course we will have 5 or 6 midweek games at least this season & of course what with CL on the tv & awful traffic putting off many non local Bees midweek we can easily expect a few 6/7/8,000 crowds when we play say Middlesbrough or Peterborough on a cold wet Tues in mid January. This will pull the average down & at best we can only fit in 12,000 or so even with a full away allocation. We will be in the bottom four attendance wise for sure.
