Maybe though he sounds a very good player for our style of play. It’s worth perhaps remembering that despite our sour experience of Tarkowski at a similar age right at the end with us he’s since been pretty much the model pro for many years in top flight football who (unlike some of the Bournemouth players in their relegation season) kept working hard at Burnley even though he knew he’d be moving on a free whether they stayed up or not. Getting the hump for a move once isn’t necessarily a lifelong character flaw. Do we want a squad of unambitious yes men who’ll take whatever indignity is thrown at them even up to a team style change to leave no place for them months after joining?

He was outstanding in the World Cup, then missed games with an injury (Fractured toe). He would probably be a great acquisition, esp if Damsgaard moves on or struggles. Jan ?

This is extrapolated from the post-match interview, after OM drew 0-0 with Toulouse, and the coach, who is disliked by OM fans, was asked about the lack of creativity and specially about not starting Ounahi who was signed for that reason. In none of the reports did he reference Brentford.

I have no problem with him, but I have to make choices, choose players. I always put players on the field who can be competitive, those who train best. Ounahi is a squad player. We will use Ounahi, we have already used him, he was good. But I have to choose players. What he has to do is continue to make the efforts in training every day to convince us and show that he can be one more player to use in a match.

So, he didn’t even say that he wasn’t training or training badly, although there was a lot of Twitter/X speculation that followed but mainly that the coach didn’t have much say with the players that were sold/loaned and recruited.

Why’re you asking me?
I don’t know, but it sounds like the Coach is being pragmatic rather than expansive, to start the season. These things always move quickly, injuries and suspensions, change of Coach even. He could well be everybody’s favourite in a couple of months. I’d be more concerned if there’s any history of him being ‘difficult’ or ‘wayward’.
