First half we were all over them and should have had more. Second we allowed them to stifle us by dragging the game down to their level. Lots of niggly fouls but the few times we kept the ball we looked dangerous. In the end it was comfortable after the ref gifted us a pen, Willock hit a fresh air shot and Lloyd didn't look like missing. Major pluses were Lloyd and Alex looking really dangerous.

Tabb was not sh*te. Your opinion is though! If we had played any other centre midfield combination we might have struggled but Newman's holding and Jay's constant running kept us on top of them for the first half. I really wonder what planet you're on at times.

Must have been at a different game to me today, didnt see a sh*te player in a brentford shirt. Even thought brooker had his moments. Tabb made some great tackles in the first half and thought he played the ball for newmans goal, maybe I'm wrong. Tabb must play down the middle. Ref was a bit funny but to be honest you need to contribute to deserve something and I was really disapointed with Barnsley, wouldnt have scored if we hadnt given them a goal. Take nothing away from the bees though, just what was needed against one of the potential banana skins

lol If he's expecting Jay to run at players from centre midfield then it's just not going to happen. We retain the ball so much better with him in there and Alex is now back to give us a genuine winger.

Thought Tabby was superb!! In fact all our midfield 4 had great games, Barnsley didnt get a sniff of the ball. We dominated the entire game, we even had to tee one up for them to score!

Only player to have a bit of an off day was Framps who seemed to want too much time on the ball and lobbed Nelson nicely for Barnsley's goal. Probably just lack of match sharpness, but he more than made up for it with his effort and some storming runs forward late on..

Great gift of a pen from the ref. Willock had an air shot and fell over and ref pointed to the spot!! Barnsley didnt deserve a thing from the game though, we made them look distinctly average. Nice to see us keeping the ball and passing it well and Lloydy and Rankin looked well fired up today... Great stuff

Special mention for Rhodesy though, caused them all sorts of trouble and a superb through ball for Owusu's goal, tired a bit in second half but is going to be a vital asset to us in the run-in..

Great stuff. Bring on the Swans!!

The only thing Tabby did wrong all afternon was to give the ball away when a great break was on and lead to their goal. However I blame the pitch as the ball seemed to bobble on those sanded ruts.

I think the months of tension has finally caught up.

Tabb was excellent, Nelson wouldn't expect Frampton to slice a clearance...

Frampton was otherwise, excellent, really good performance, as was Owusu, Newman and Turner. In fact, everyone was great. We outplayed Barnsley from start to finish, minus a nervy 15 minutes after they scored. Newman lead well, Rankin held up the ball well at times, and brought something to the game, Rhodes was looking sharp, dangerous, and I think he may be key. Brooker did well, Sodje was Sodje, Willock showed some good acceleration, Pratley showed some of his class and Tillen was solid.

All in all, a great performance Bees.

In the first half we played a superb tight passing game and Barnsley couldnt cope with us. In the 2nd half although we didnt revert to a completely long ball game the passes were much longer and we lost possession time and time again.

I felt once again real confidence in the overall depth of the squad.

Absolutely top class performance today as we outfootballed and put powered a pretty good team and made them look impotent.

We started well and the first 45 mins was as good as that against Swansea. Their scout was at GP today and he sounded very worried about us.

4-0 would have been a fair halftime score givrn our possession and dominance. We sat back after the break but were comfortable until Frampton's slice gifted them a way back into the game.

We showed then how good we are as they barely created a chance afterwards despite their possession. Yes, the peanlty was a joke, but so was the slice for their goal.

Barnsley will oan about a possible penalty at 2-0 but it really looked a sif Tommy Wright dived as Nelson took his hands away.

The back four were excellent. Tillen could have been a weak link but never looked in trouble. Turner and Sodje were great, Sam took the **** as normal coming forward and seemingly playing for the free kicks as they lumped him up in the air. Frampton had a dodgy spell in the second half but I remember one fantastic brave headed interception on the half way line to avert danger and agreat run into the box for a shot. Unti. Rhodes tired the balance in the midfield was excellent and Tabb terrirfied them wiuth his pace and balance AND he won every header.

Our first goal was beautiful, Rankin won the ball, laid it off the Tabb and a ball chipped through was finished with a calm flick by the skipper.

Newman was excellent today , he won 40-60 tackles, scored and used the ball well, Brookere and Tiger excellent with the through ball for Owusu brilliant.

Owusu murdered them and could hyave made 5, he held the ball up well, ran at them and was a menace. My MOTM. Rankin was an excellent foil.

To have Willock, Pratley and Peters to come on shows our strength in depth.

Make no bones about it we were positive, powerful and skillfull. We mixed our game up well were disciplined and organised. An awesome performance given what was at stake.

I was proud of them today. Greenholme Bee worried about today's game but they showed that when they start well and play as a team then we will win most games.

What a confiedence boost for Swansea.

Good size crowd again and for once they didn't go away disappointed. Mercurial first half - wish Sam's header had gone in just before half-time to make it irrecoverable. No-one on Brook Road rightside knew who had scored the first goal which looked magical from distance as did Lloyd's. Pearls. Tabby was great though inevitably not everything he tried came off. Canadian Bee must be amongst the permanent whingers in the crowd. The weakest link for me was Tillen's distribution though I'm not blaming him - he did a good stand-in job defensively. Have not seen such a homer referee for years, if I was a Barnsley supporter i would have felt really hard done by. The pen just capped it. Geart result. Swansea playing tomorrow and midweek (?LDV return against ColU) and then us on Friday. If we can play like we did 1st half we'll slaughter them in their new Whiterock Stadium or whatever its called. Onwards and upwards! That was some preformance today. Lloyd was superb.

I thought it was as good as it gets first half when it looked like we were in for another "Walsall" type game so dominant were we. Second half we gifted them a goal with Sodje off the pitch which got them back into it,

Penalty decision was a comic moment, I was just thinking this was a decent ref as you don't know he's there and then he upsets a large bit of South Yorkshire with a bizzare decision, still it don't happen to us very often and we were still worth the win.

I thought all the team played well with Owusu and Newman ( how can people still slag him off) immense. For my money Tabby played well, very creative.

Having Rhodes back is like having a new player, he looked the bizz and seemed to have added some nice touches whilst he has been away.

Bib , big result, I am serioulsy thinking we can get an automatic slot. Next Friday is just massive now.

One if not the best first halves we've played this season.
Barnsley aren't great away from home but have a strong, highly rated midfield and our 4 out played them in the first half. Nice that it was done playing good football and not just sheer effort. I thought the two first half goals were both a culmination of slick, passing football that would have graced the premiership which in fairness is rare at GP.

I think the tykes were lucky it was only 2-0 at half time as we murdered them, won every header at the back, every 50-50 ball in midfield, outpassed them and our forwards ran them ragged.

IMHO Lloyd had his best game since coming back and surely to god the anti Owusu idiots on the other web site will have to get off his back now. He won virtually every ball in the air, finding Ranks and Tiger every time with deft flicks and could and probably should have scored 4. At times he frustrates because he needs too many chances but he's led the line well all season and works tirelessly bringing others in and never hides and today it all came good.

But its Brentford innit.......and for one horrible moment I thought that what appeared to be the easiest win of the season at half time suddenly looked it might turn into dropped points. How Framps, Turner and Nelson all contrived to let them score such a comedy goal I'll never know and although they never threatened or deserved anything I feared it was going to end in tears. You just know it's going to be no fingernails and nervy til the end of the season even if we're 2-0 up with 10 minutes to go.......

Fortunately an equally bizarre moment at the other end settled my nerves.
I screamed penalty at the time as I couldn't see how Willock would have messed up from that close but hey ho general concensus is I was wrong but so was the ref! Nice that we get a bit of luck for once.

Nelson . 7. Only because I think he has to share some of the blame for goal

Tillen . 7. Did everything asked of him well, but deffo isn't a right back

Sam. 7. Still not back to his best but never really struggled against static forwards

Turner. 7. Would have been more but again the goal was down to him

Framps. 7. As above

Brooker. 7. Confidence player and today he had bags of it and used ball well

Newman. 8. Did the dirty things well, won the 50-50's, used the ball well, scored and dictated the game and got the best out of those around him.

Tabby. 8. Not so many explosive runs but excellent tackling and won the midfield battle alongside Newman

Tiger. 8. Reminds me of a young Salako, looks a bit bit raw at times but so game, quick and dangerous and gives us the width we've missed. Scared them to death when he ran at them and great pass for Lloyds goal.

Isaiah . 7. Not really a fan but deffo looking sharper since DJ's departure and linked up well with Lloyd

Lloyd. 9. Top class performance and on this form wouldn't swap him for anyone else, lets hope he gets the consistency and goals we need til May.

Pratley. 7. Oozed class and looked like he was in a training match while on
Peters. ?. Can't remember him getting a touch but didn't put a foot wrong!

First was great. All over Barnsley and it should have been 3 or 4-0.

Second half we looked sluggish. Barnsley got back into the game & I was geeting worried that they would steal a point until we were gifted a pen by the referee (who was hopeless).

Front 2 played very well, we looked reasonably solid at the back (although thought that Frampton looked a bit shaky in the second half) and solid in midfield.

Automatic promotion is there for the taking. Swansea have a game tomorrow AND the second leg against Colchester in the LDV on Tuesday. rofl rofl rofl Hopefully, they will be cream crackered/ injured by Friday night.

Apart form a dodgy spell half way through the second half we were brilliant today, rhodes gives us a genuine winger - what an assist for owusu's first. Newman and tabb worked really well together, with tabb playing like an angry bulldog, he won headers and tackles all over the place and always wanted the ball, having someone in the centre with his energy is such an asset as he is so hard for them to pick up and equally hard to get away from.
Owusu,newman and brooker all showed why we bought them in, in an attacking side with the ball on the deck thay can cause havoc. Special mention to framps who came back and showed his presence as a strong and tough left back.
Rhodes means we finally have balance in the midfield something owusu, rankin and our other strikers will clearly benefit from.
Willock looks like he will add something different as when he came on he made a few intelligent runs in to space and finally got us back attacking, and what an air shot, pure entertainment

I don't disrespect your opinion but I just don't get it.

Tabby gave a very very mature performance today. He played like he really understands the role of central midfield. Great touches and interplay, always offering himself for support, and importantly rarely gave the ball away and made some vital tackles, comdined with some driving runs I though he was mom ahead of Owusu.

Framps on the other hadn kept making bad decisions.

Oh it was the 4th Official who was injured ws it. I assumed it was the Ref who was replaced by someone from Ealing..... Still he can come back any week, what a great bloke. Can see why the Barsley fans were a bit upset but hey we don't get much from refs so today was our day.

Otherwise, probably the best performance of the season for me apart from the 10/15 minutes after conceding. I think everyone did well today, including and perhaps especially Tabb.

Owusu had what was probably his best game for us in his second spell and hopefully it will give him some confidence now for the next few games.

Brooker showed he does have something to offer and was excellent throughout. Rhodes was superb and what a fantastic through ball for No. 2. Newman - how did he get on the end of that ball from Tabb?

Defence all impeccable - forgetting the lapse for the goal.

Onwards and upwards - its not over yet but looking good.

Simply a fantastic performance by all the team.
I think Lloyd and Rankin deserve special mention as they worked their socks off today and looked dangerous at all times.

Trying not to single to many players out but Tiger seems to have matured a hell of a lot on the ball and he hasn`t been on the ball for a year plus. Only downside to his game is the lack of compusure when finishing today.


I blame Nelson for the goal cos BeeH told me it was definately his fault.

whisper it ever so quietely but...no sod it i cant even say it but suffice to say if we play like that for the rest of the season we will be ok ..especially if we have the same ref for every game !!..what gives me confidence is the strength in depth we now seem to have ..when did we have a bench as strong as todays also we seem to have shed something of the usual 'its brentford innit' of always losing the big game..the next 5 games will dictate wether we can pull away from the pack or be involved in a mad scramble to get over the line 4 of them are away so the likes of hutch and marcus will no doubt be more involved in scrapping at the likes of col u and swansea

Thoroughly enjoyable game. Other than the 10 minutes or so following their goal, we slaughtered them. Not a poor performance on the pitch, Newman had probably his best game in a Brentford shirt. Rhodes looked quality in his first start since coming back and put in some quality crosses.

didn't think it was the 4th official he was injured I think it was one of the linesmen and the linesman on New Road side was the original 4th official.

As for the Tabb was bad today, I have never read such a wrong comment on here ever. He was so strong I thought he had either just received a new contract or has received his final insult of a new offer

Talking to a Tyke on the way to the station he said that we were the best team they have played all season in first half, but didn't come out the second half. First half to me was total football, passing, passion and teamwork. AW does a really great job with these boys before the start of the game
